She was now even more interested in Jiang Yan's boyfriend.
Jiang Yan entered her room and her expression immediately soured at the sight of the piled-up luggage. However, instead of finding Jiang Huan to scold her, she directly threw all of Jiang Huan's luggage outside the door.
Jiang Father's face turned grim when he walked in and saw the situation. He entered and, seeing Jiang Yan preparing to bathe, asked, "Don't mind it too much. Your sister was just spoiled by your mother. I'll talk to her."
"It's fine. Mom treats every child about the same. I have a bad temper too. Dad, I'm very tired and want to sleep." Jiang Yan's face was etched with exhaustion.
Jiang Father said, "Then you rest. I'll ask your sister to switch rooms."
Jiang Yan nodded. Not long after she closed the door, she heard Jiang Huan's noisy complaints from outside, "Why should I live in the small room? That room has a bathroom, and I want that one."
However, Jiang Yan was not going to spoil her like their mother. She went to take a bath herself, deciding that if Jiang Huan dared to cause trouble for her, Jiang Yan would kick her out.
This was her house, and she deserved to live in the biggest and best room.
While bathing, Jiang Yan felt a sense of secret delight, and a smile involuntarily appeared on her face.
She didn't know what Dad said to Jiang Huan, but she didn't come to bother her.
Suddenly, she thought of Jin Lan. If Jin Lan hadn't helped her, she wouldn't have gotten this apartment, and her life would definitely be much tougher and more chaotic than it was now.
She picked up her phone and called Jin Lan. The call was answered quickly.
"Missing me?" Jin Lan's playful voice came through.
Jiang Yan's smile grew even brighter as she replied, "Yes. Why else would I call you? I'm telling you, my sister is back, the one who scammed the family's money. She came back and took over my room. I threw all her luggage out."
Upon hearing this, Jin Lan's expression darkened. He had investigated Jiang Yan's sister and knew that woman was no easy person. With Jiang Yan's innocent and carefree personality, she was bound to suffer at her sister's hands.
"You did the right thing. You don't need to appease anyone," Jin Lan gently soothed her.
"Don't you think I'm too overbearing? I thought you'd scold me," Jiang Yan's smile widened.
"Jiang Yan, remember this, you are my woman now, Jin Lan's woman. You have the right to be willful. Your nature is kind, but being too soft-hearted will only lead to others bullying you. I don't want to see you bullied, by anyone... only I can bully you, understand?" Jin Lan declared domineeringly.
Jiang Yan was deeply touched at first, wishing she could run to him immediately and give him a hug. But upon hearing the last sentence, she couldn't help but laugh, finding him exasperatingly familiar.
"Bah, why does it feel like I'm scolding myself?"
But it still felt incredibly sweet. They talked for a while longer. Knowing that Jin Lan was still working overtime, she didn't disturb him further. She hung up the phone, got out of the bathtub, tidied up, and went to sleep.
She had been extremely tired lately, not just because of her part-time jobs, but also because she was diligently studying her major every day. Ye Wan had interned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jiang Yan envied her greatly. But she knew she couldn't go there, not because she couldn't find connections, but because her professional skills were simply too lacking. She still needed to study hard.
Lying in bed, Jiang Yan put on her earphones to listen to English news. No matter what she did in the future, mastering her professional knowledge was the foundation, and there were no shortcuts.
