Chapter 608 I Don't Believe a Single Word You Say

Gu Yunting had lost interest in the meeting the moment he learned Ye Wan had arrived. He hadn't even registered what the executives were reporting. The meeting, originally scheduled for two hours, was hastily concluded in less than one.

As he returned to his office, his secretary approached him, informing him that Ye Wan hadn't left and insisted on waiting for him.

Gu Yunting stopped in his tracks and walked to the outside of the reception room. He looked at the girl sleeping on the sofa, her hand still protectively resting on her abdomen. His heart ached as if it were being pierced by knives. He asked his secretary for a blanket, intending to cover her. However, he paused… Her current drowsiness was a symptom of the Mò Zú poison. If it wasn't detoxified soon, she might fall into an irreversible slumber within half a month.

Ye Wan was roughly awakened. She looked at the person before her with sleepy eyes, not feeling angry. Instead, she rubbed her eyes and said, "You're done with the meeting? How did I fall asleep again?"

"Get out and don't come back again. I won't see you at the company!" Gu Yunting pulled her up furiously, his hand gripping her arm tightly.

Ye Wan looked at the furious man before her, feeling distressed. Yet, she still explained, "I came to ask for your help. If you don't like me coming, I won't come anymore. Please don't be angry."

Although she didn't know why, Ye Wan could sense that this behavior wasn't his true intention; he had his reasons.

"Ye Wan! You think too highly of yourself! Just because I'm not treating you too harshly, you actually think I like you?" Gu Yunting sneered, patting her face with an expression of utter disdain.

"Yes! I took it seriously! You said you liked me! You treated me very well! I'm just foolish, and I took it seriously, so what!" Ye Wan suddenly grabbed his hand. She had promised herself not to cry, but tears flowed uncontrollably.

"Are you in pain now? If so, my objective is achieved. I'm satisfied… And have the child in your belly aborted! Then you can get lost! We'll be even!" Gu Yunting coldly withdrew his hand.

Ye Wan painfully closed her eyes. "Gu Yunting, do you have to be like this? I don't believe a single word you say!"

She didn't want to hear his insincere words anymore. After speaking, she got up and ran. The more she thought about it, the more her heart ached. She couldn't understand what had happened to make him treat her this way… This feeling was truly maddening.

She was afraid that if she heard another word, she would actually believe him. She felt she was nearing her breaking point; his words were too hurtful.

Ye Wan ran all the way downstairs and got into the car, telling the driver to take her back. The driver, unaware of what had happened, quickly started the car and drove towards the Gu residence.

Upon returning to the Gu residence, Ye Wan didn't go upstairs. Instead, she locked herself in the small room she used to stay in. Without even showering, she curled up on the bed, covered herself with the quilt, and hid her head, as if this could help her escape from everything in reality.

The bad memories from her childhood resurfaced, making it hard for her to breathe. In the past, when she was too scared, she would habitually hide herself away. But this habit had long since disappeared. Now, she wanted to escape from terrible things just as she did when she was a child.

However, when it happened again, this form of escape seemed ineffective. She felt like someone drowning, desperately trying to grasp a life-saving straw, but she couldn't hold onto anything. Eventually, she drifted into a dazed sleep.
