After eating two pieces, Ye Wan stopped Hui Hui from having more. Too much of this could cause gas. To her surprise, Hui Hui didn't fuss and truly stopped asking for more when she told him no. Ye Wan then gave him the bottle of water she had brought.
“You’ve eaten and drunk your fill, time to go home, shall I walk you?” Ye Wan looked at the little fellow in front of her.
Hui Hui’s expression changed, and he immediately said, “I’m not going home!”
“Why? Did you have a fight with your family?” Ye Wan asked him seriously.
“My dad wants to find me a stepmother, and I don’t want one!” Hui Hui said with a cold face.
“Uh… then… what about your mother?” Ye Wan cautiously asked the question in her heart.
As soon as Hui Hui heard the word "mother," tears immediately welled up. Ye Wan looked at the face that resembled her brother's and felt her heart ache, almost to the point of crying. “My mom died when she was giving birth to my brother.”
Ye Wan hadn't expected this. Seeing him cry, she felt unbearable sadness too. “Don’t cry, don’t cry. I don’t have a mom either, and I don’t have a dad! I have nothing!”
Ye Wan thought that if she sounded as miserable as herself, it might comfort him.
As expected, Hui Hui forgot about his tears. “Really?”
“Really, really, I have nothing at all.” Ye Wan nodded heavily.
“You’re so pitiful, even more pitiful than me. I still have a dad.” Hui Hui was indeed comforted.
Ye Wan: “…”
This brat is truly a bit twisted!
As they were talking, someone called out for the young master. Hui Hui’s expression changed immediately upon hearing the voice. He stood up and pulled Ye Wan, wanting to leave.
Ye Wan knew it was people looking for him. She didn’t move and shook her head at him. “I know you’re a smart kid. You’ve made your point. If you don’t go back, your family will surely be worried. Besides, if you don’t want a stepmother, you can talk to your dad directly and tell him your thoughts. But your dad also has the right to pursue his own happiness. If he likes that woman, you should bless him. That’s the right way.”
Hui Hui’s expression turned uglier as he listened to her, but he didn't retort.
Ye Wan reached out and stroked his soft hair, coaxing him gently, “Let’s go back.”
Just then, the people looking for Hui Hui arrived. They were excited to see Hui Hui and rushed forward. “Young Master, where have you been? The Master is worried sick!”
“Who are you? Why are you with our Young Master? Did you abduct him?” Someone from the group stepped forward and questioned her rudely.
“Shut up! Wan Wan is my friend! Anyone who disrespects her will be kicked out immediately!” Hui Hui’s expression was cold, and his words were even more domineering.
“Alright, alright. Miss, thank you for taking care of our Young Master. May I ask your name?” The leader was polite, but the fatigue in his eyes was evident, indicating they had been searching for a while.
“My name is not important. Since the child is upset, you should report it to his father and let them sit down and communicate. Hui Hui is a smart and sensible child,” Ye Wan said very seriously.
Hui Hui was so touched he was about to cry. He felt like he had found a kindred spirit.
“Yes, Miss is right. Young Master, come home with me. The Master will be very angry when he finds out you ran away from home.”
Hui Hui’s expression turned grim.
“Is he angry? Or is he worried and anxious? Saying it like this will only make their father-son relationship worse, you know? When a child goes missing, parents will definitely be more worried!”
