Chapter 1147 This Saved the Brother and Sister

Jin Qing had encountered a pair of wolfish father and son who intended to drain her blood and then take her life. They might even have plotted to sow discord between Jin Lan and Jin Qing, ultimately leading the siblings to kill each other.

Fortunately, Jin Lan was upright and showed no leniency towards his own family, which instead saved both him and his sister.

"Not for now. I don't think my sister wants to come out either. Besides apologizing today, she also told me not to let her off easily and that she wanted to pay the price for her mistakes. Her demeanor at the time seemed genuine, and she must be regretting her actions now." Her wife saying this filled him with relief.

"But it's not entirely her fault. She was controlled by others. It must have been the Chu father and son who made her do it, all to ruin our relationship. We mustn't fall for their ploy." Jiang Yan had resolved her inner conflict. She was, after all, a kind-hearted woman and didn't want to see Jin Qing suffer in confinement.

"I know. As long as you're willing to forgive her, I'm content. Let her stay inside for now; it will give her more time for deep reflection. As for the Chu father and son, I won't let them go. I was too soft-hearted before." A fierce murderous glint flashed in Jin Lan's eyes. If they wanted to destroy his family, he wouldn't let them have an easy time either.

Seeing that he had made up his mind, Jiang Yan said nothing more, only telling him to share anything with her.

Jin Lan advised her to be careful lately, to take two more bodyguards when going out. He would deal with Chu Weixian and Chu Yu next, and warned her not to be cornered and do something to harm her.

Jiang Yan acknowledged this.

During dinner, Jiang Yan explained to Jian Yi that Jin Qing had been drugged, which led her to abandon Jian Yi, and asked if Jian Yi could forgive her.

Jian Yi didn't quite understand what had happened. She said, "If Daddy and Mommy think I should forgive her, then I'll forgive her."

Though she didn't fully grasp the situation, she knew that whatever her parents said must be correct.

Jiang Yan was amused by the little girl's words and reached out to stroke her head, finding her incredibly adorable.

Jin Lan also felt Jian Yi was an extremely intelligent child and believed she would achieve great things with proper nurturing.

Fu Chen looked at the happy family of three and felt a pang of envy.

"Uncle, Auntie, may I stay at your home for a longer period?" Fu Chen seized the opportunity to ask.

"Of course, you can stay as long as you like. With you helping us look after Jian Yi, I couldn't ask for more," Jiang Yan said with great joy.

Jin Lan also told him to feel free to ask for any help he needed, not to be polite, and that from now on, he was like a paternal uncle.

Fu Chen expressed his gratitude to them again.

In the evening, Jian Yi walked in with a bowl of glutinous rice balls. "Brother, I brought you tangyuan to eat. These tangyuan are delicious, soft, and sweet. They're my favorite. You should try them too."

Fu Chen didn't usually like sweet things, but seeing Jian Yi earnestly offer them to him, he took them and ate a couple of mouthfuls, saying with a smile, "They are indeed delicious."

"See? I love tangyuan. Mommy says it's too sweet and doesn't eat them, and Daddy doesn't seem to like them much either. Only I like them," Jian Yi said, perplexed as to why they wouldn't like something so tasty.

"Perhaps adults don't like sweet things, and only children do," Fu Chen said. He didn't like them anymore either. He used to enjoy sweets, chocolate, and anything sweet, but as he grew older, he gradually lost his taste for them.
