Perhaps the young man himself didn't realize it, but a person's true thoughts are often betrayed by their eyes.
Jiang Jingxiu certainly wouldn't allow his daughter to associate too closely with someone whose eyes were full of schemes.
"I came to find Mian Mian. She doesn't seem to be home yet. I have something I'd like to discuss with her," Jiang Tianci said with a polite smile.
Jiang Jingxiu checked the time. It was this late and she still wasn't home? He wasn't worried, though. His daughter was protected by bodyguards, and they would have called him immediately if anything happened. She was likely just delayed.
"Alright, you can wait then," Jiang Jingxiu said. He wouldn't interfere with his daughter making friends. He trusted her judgment wasn't so poor that she'd be friends with someone like that. As far as he knew, his daughter was hardly engaging with this young man.
"Uncle Jiang, I need to ask for your help with something." Seeing Jiang Jingxiu about to leave, the anxious Jiang Tianci blurted out his purpose. He was still young and couldn't quite hide his intentions, ultimately revealing himself.
"Ask for my help? Tell me what it is," Jiang Jingxiu turned and questioned him.
"Uncle Jiang, it's like this. My family is having some cash flow problems right now and wants to get a loan from the bank. But the bank said they need a guarantor before they can release the funds. I was hoping you could help my family out." Jiang Tianci said it with a thick skin.
"If I help your family, what happens if you can't repay the money?"
"You won't have to worry about that. My family can definitely repay it. It's just a temporary cash flow issue." Jiang Tianci quickly explained.
"The Jiang family is just an empty shell now. What can you guarantee to me that you'll be able to repay it? No wonder you've been trying to get close to my daughter; you've been plotting this all along." Jiang Jingxiu's gaze grew cold, and he looked at the young man before him with even more disdain.
Cold sweat trickled down Jiang Tianci's forehead. He hadn't expected Jiang Jingxiu to know everything. He couldn't admit it, so he toughened his resolve and said, "Uncle, you must have misunderstood me. I genuinely want to be friends with Mian Mian because I think she's a good child, and my family's situation isn't that bad; it's just a temporary liquidity issue."
"Do you think everyone is an idiot? I'll give you one last piece of advice. If you truly want to achieve great things, you must first be sincere in your dealings, not just know how to deceive. Remember, no one is stupid, and no one in the Jiang family is!" Jiang Jingxiu finished speaking and no longer paid attention to the young man, striding into the apartment.
Jiang Tianci felt as if he'd been struck by lightning, unable to move. He couldn't believe that Jiang Jingxiu had seen through all his plans. He just wanted to help his family, so why did it sound like he was a villain of the worst kind when these people spoke of it?
He felt hatred, hating these people for their coldness and lack of compassion. He wasn't asking for their money, just for help with a loan; why was it not possible?
Jiang Tianci left in a fit of anger.
When Mian Mian returned home and saw her father, she ran over happily. Jiang Jingxiu asked, "Where did you go after school? You seem very busy lately. Are you hiding something from me?"
Jiang Jingxiu had been busy recently. He'd also been recovering from an injury not long ago and had paid a bit less attention to his daughter. But he wasn't entirely unaware of her situation. He knew she'd been coming home a little later lately.
"No, I'm not hiding anything. Oh, Dad, can I ask you for a favor?" Qian Xiaoguo still needed her father's help with transferring schools.
