When Jin Lan heard the news, his mind went blank. He rushed over and began to dig where Ye Wan had just dug.
He couldn't imagine how terrified Jiang Yan, that timid and pampered coward, must have been buried underneath.
Jin Lan, like a madman, started to dig through the rubble with his bare hands. After a few scrapes, he turned to Ye Wan and asked, "Are you sure she's here?"
"Yes, Jiang Yan and I picked up four puppies. When we were about to come out, Jiang Yan pushed me out. She wanted to bring the puppies out, and then the house collapsed," Ye Wan explained, choking back sobs.
Gu Yunting held her hand and looked at her hands, all ten fingers already bloody and bruised from digging. He felt so heartbroken he wanted to lash out. He turned and shouted at Jin Lan, "Don't just act recklessly. Digging like this might cause her secondary injuries. Gu Ye, come here and assess the situation, then make a digging plan! Don't panic, you two. It's just a single-story house; she should be fine."
The nursing home was all single-story buildings. Finding someone wouldn't be difficult, but their survival was uncertain.
Jin Lan knew this too, but he couldn't control himself. He was pulled away by bodyguards. Gu Ye arrived, assessed the situation, and as soon as he determined how to proceed, he quickly called for help.
Ye Wan was pulled aside by Gu Yunting. She wanted to help, but Gu Yunting held her back. Bodyguards came to hold umbrellas for them. Gu Yunting got water from a bodyguard and helped Ye Wan rinse the wounds on her fingers.
Only then did Ye Wan feel the pain in her hands. She flinched instinctively. Gu Yunting grabbed her to stop her from moving. "It'll get infected if you don't clean it! Bear with it!"
His tone was harsh, and Ye Wan felt so wronged she wanted to cry. She could only endure. Gu Yunting first used clean water to wash away the dirt and grime from her wounds, then disinfected them with antiseptic.
His actions looked rough, but every movement was careful, as if he were afraid of causing her more pain.
But Ye Wan didn't know this. She only felt pain and wronged, and tears began to fall.
After disinfecting her wounds, Gu Yunting looked at her drenched clothes and wanted to take her to the helicopter to shelter from the rain. Ye Wan adamantly refused to leave until Jiang Yan was rescued.
Gu Yunting was angry but helpless. He could only get her a cotton coat to wrap herself in, at least to ward off the chill.
Without professional tools, Jin Lan and Gu Ye's progress was slow. Fortunately, it was only a single-story house. Ten minutes later, everyone finally saw Jiang Yan, who was pinned down. She had already lost consciousness.
Jin Lan's heart stopped. He disregarded everything, using his hands to frantically clear the debris pressing down on her.
Ye Wan also ran over, wanting to help, but Gu Yunting pulled her back. "Don't cause more trouble. Jin Lan and Gu Ye can rescue her."
The objects pressing down on Jiang Yan were finally cleared. Jin Lan's face was pale, and his trembling fingers felt for Jiang Yan's breath. When he felt that she was still breathing, he let out a huge sigh of relief.
"She's alive! Quickly, bring all the medicine! I need to give her emergency treatment!" Jin Lan swiftly picked her up and carried her towards the flat ground.
Someone approached them and told them to first carry the person to an undamaged single-story building where the conditions were better. Jin Lan carried Jiang Yan and followed.
The room had backup power. Jin Lan urgently began to rescue Jiang Yan. Seeing that Jiang Yan's breathing was becoming stronger, Ye Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Gu Yunting, Jiang Yan will be alright, right?" Ye Wan looked at the man who had been holding her tightly, tears streaming down her face.
