"Jiang Yan, you're here. Don't worry, our classmates are just injured. Luckily, most of them are night owls. When the mudslide happened, most of the classmates managed to escape. Five didn't make it out and were buried. They've all been transferred to the hospital."
"It's good that nothing major happened." Jiang Yan breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. She quickly sent Ye Wan a message to let her know she was safe.
"It's just... the elderly people had an accident. Old folks sleep early and their movements are slow. Sigh." Li Shuo sighed.
Jiang Yan felt distressed too. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm getting things for everyone. I'll be back soon. Do you want to go back with me?"
"I still have something to do. I won't go back yet. You go ahead. I'll come back by myself later." Jiang Yan wanted to check on Jin Lan.
"Alright then, I'll head back. Be careful on your own."
Jiang Yan went to find Jin Lan. She asked two nurses and found out where he was. They said he had been busy all night yesterday and that the injured had been mostly transferred. He was resting in a tent.
She hesitated for a moment, but felt she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she didn't check on his injured hand. So, she walked towards the tent.
However, the scene that greeted her when she lifted the tent flap made her mind go blank. She saw Jin Lan… kissing a woman!
Jiang Yan quickly dropped the curtain, feeling so embarrassed she wished she could disappear into a crack in the ground. She felt she had been overthinking things; he had a beautiful woman to care for him, why should she worry!
The woman inside the tent was startled. She had been trying to steal a kiss from Dr. Jin. Just as she was about to succeed, she suddenly heard a sound and was almost scared to death. Jin Lan also opened his eyes.
He frowned at the flustered woman in front of him and demanded, "What's going on?"
He had been busy all night yesterday and was now tired and exhausted, only wanting to rest. He had fallen asleep as soon as he sat down.
"It's nothing. I just came to call you to eat something. It seems like someone came just now and then… left… I'll go now." The nurse felt guilty and, with a red face, turned and ran.
Jin Lan was utterly bewildered. What was wrong with him? Why was Xiao Zhao blushing?
Jin Lan looked at his hand. It had been briefly disinfected and a little medicine applied. The bleeding had stopped, but it was badly swollen and quite painful.
He got up and left the tent. The injured had all been transferred, and he also planned to go home for a rest.
"Dr. Jin, a female student was looking for you just now. Did you see her?" an older nurse asked.
"Female student?" Jin Lan looked at her.
"Yes, a very pretty young girl, so fair and beautiful. I told her you were resting over there."
Jin Lan immediately looked around. From a distance, he saw Jiang Yan about to get into a car to leave.
He quickly ran towards her. Jiang Yan was about to tell the driver to start the car when the door was pulled open and Jin Lan got in.
"You… why did you get in?" Jiang Yan immediately moved to the other side, looking at him nervously.
"Young Master Jin, are we heading back to the city?" the driver asked, recognizing Jin Lan and greeting him.
"Yes, let's go!" Jin Lan instructed.
Jiang Yan was speechless.
Since they knew each other and were going the same way, she couldn't say anything. She bent down and picked up her Zhao Cai, stroking its fur.
Zhao Cai had been sleeping. When its owner picked it up, it tilted its head and looked at its owner with a silly, cute expression.
