While bathing, Ye Wan thought about Gu Yunting's actions today, and felt a dull ache in her heart. She raised her hand to cover her heart, her beautiful brows furrowing. Why did she feel upset? Had she fallen in love with him?
Impossible! How could that be? Ye Wan immediately dismissed the thought. She was just... just upset because he was her legal husband, yet he was with another woman.
Sensing her abnormal emotions, Ye Wan quickly closed her eyes and submerged herself in the water, her head completely submerged.
A hand suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the water. Ye Wan, who was trying to calm herself down, was startled by the sudden grab and choked on the water, nearly drowning.
She coughed until her cheeks were flushed red, glaring at the man who had suddenly appeared. She wanted to accuse him of attempted murder, but she couldn't utter a single word.
Gu Yunting quickly patted her back, his brows furrowed as he asked, "Do you want to commit suicide?"
"You're the one who wants to commit suicide. I was taking a bath." Ye Wan was so angry she almost spat water at him.
Gu Yunting grabbed her flailing hand, "Your courage is growing."
"You almost made me choke to death. Can't I get a little revenge?" Ye Wan glared at him, equally furious. However, coupled with her dewy black eyes and flushed cheeks, her anger lacked conviction, appearing more like a spoiled tantrum.
"Come out. It's time to sleep." Gu Yunting got up and left the bathroom.
Ye Wan looked at the man who had left so abruptly with some surprise. She glanced down at her own body... If she remembered correctly, this was the first time... he had seen her body without any intimate contact.
Even though she hadn't wanted... his behavior made her feel inexplicably down. Had he lost all interest in her body?
Ye Wan felt a strange sadness.
When she emerged, Gu Yunting had already changed into his pajamas and was lying in bed. Little Orange was propped on its front paws, looking intently at the person on the bed. Gu Yunting ignored it, and it couldn't get up. Ye Wan walked over, sent the little fellow out, closed the door, and returned to the bedside to lie down.
In the past, Gu Yunting would hold her close, regardless of her protests. Tonight, he hadn't moved at all, lying quietly on his side of the bed. Ye Wan's chest felt even more constricted. She suddenly turned to look at the man lying properly on his side. Gu Yunting also turned to look at her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Ye Wan...
He actually had the nerve to ask what was wrong?
Enraged, Ye Wan quickly turned over and faced away from him.
Gu Yunting...
His chest hurt terribly now, a surge of blood rising, and the wound throbbed with pain as if being torn open. Jin Lan had initially forbidden him to return, but what had happened tonight made him fearful.
If she had been with him tonight, would she have been the one shot?
Gu Yunting found himself unable to accept the possibility of her being in danger.
Ye Wan thought she wouldn't be able to sleep. In reality, she fell asleep within half an hour, simply out of anger. Because she was so angry, her brows were furrowed even in her sleep.
Looking at her tightly furrowed brows, Gu Yunting tenderly raised his hand and gently stroked the crease between her eyebrows, wanting to smooth it away.
His fingertips lingered, caressing her brow bone, eyes, cheeks, nose, and lips. Finally, he cupped her chin and, unable to resist any longer, leaned in and kissed her alluring lips.
...
The next day, when Ye Wan woke up, Gu Yunting was no longer by her side. Annoyed, she sat up and picked up her phone, wanting to ask him what exactly he meant.
