Ye Wan reached out to help him take off his shirt. He had only been wearing a shirt when he returned, and she didn't know how cold he truly was.
"Take a hot bath and don't get sick," Ye Wan said, looking at him with concern. But she was too nervous, only unbuttoning three of his buttons. Gu Yunting suddenly pushed her away and pinned her against the wall, kissing her lips with urgency.
Ye Wan felt his urgency and clenched her fists nervously, unable to push him away.
Ye Wan felt that he must have been carrying an extremely heavy burden on his mind and desperately needed to vent, and she was the target of his release. She was tossed and turned by him for more than half the night before he finally fell into a deep sleep, holding her tightly.
Instead, Ye Wan became wide awake. Because the force with which he held her today was greater than any other time, it was constricting her to the point where she could barely breathe. She knew that his unusual behavior must be due to something that had happened, something that had upset him.
She raised her hand and gently stroked his furrowed brow. Ye Wan suddenly felt rather useless. She didn't understand his matters, nor could she help him. All she could do was wait for him at home and accompany him when he was tired.
The next day, Ye Wan woke up feeling hot. She opened her eyes and looked at the man still asleep before her. She reached out to touch him and found that he indeed had a fever.
Ye Wan really didn't understand. He didn't seem to have any new injuries, yet he had a fever?
What on earth could have caused him to fall ill directly?
As she moved, Gu Yunting also woke up. He looked down at the girl in his arms, whose eyes were wide open as she stared at him, and felt a pang of unease.
"You're sick, you have a fever right now," Ye Wan said, reaching for her phone as she spoke, wanting to call Jin Lan to see what was wrong with him.
"It's nothing. I'll just take some fever reducers later," Gu Yunting said carelessly before letting go of her and turning his back to her.
Ye Wan's movement paused, and she looked at him with some confusion. "You can't just take fever reducers when you're sick. You need to figure out why you have a fever... What exactly happened to you yesterday?"
"Nothing. You go out first. I want to be alone for a while." Gu Yunting was feeling very distressed right now, both because of her and because of his scumbag father who had disappeared for over a decade.
"Oh, alright." Ye Wan didn't insist this time, as she couldn't bear for him to do anything to her again. With her frail body, she feared she might die in bed if he continued.
So, she obediently got out of bed and went out to call Jin Lan, asking him to come and see what was wrong with Gu Yunting.
Gu Yunting listened to the sound of the door opening and closing behind him. His heart suddenly felt empty, a painful emptiness that he couldn't bear.
Jin Lan already knew what had happened yesterday, so he rushed over as quickly as possible. Ye Wan was holding a bowl of congee, preparing to go upstairs to give it to Gu Yunting.
"Let me do it. You rest for a while, and I'll go check on him," Jin Lan voluntarily took the congee from Ye Wan's hand.
"What exactly is wrong with him?" Ye Wan clutched the tray and didn't let go.
She was very worried about Gu Yunting now, her chest felt extremely uncomfortable. She didn't want to see him like this.
"Yesterday, Brother Ting's scumbag father returned and hit Brother Ting because of his illegitimate son." Jin Lan explained.
Ye Wan's delicate eyebrows knitted fiercely, and her eyes turned red with anger. "He's too much! I'll call Jun Li Chen right now!"
"Heh heh, I'll go up and see Brother Ting first," Jin Lan chuckled dryly, not telling her that Gu Yunting had almost beaten Jun Li Chen to death.
