"You've said so much, how can I possibly stop him from being angry?" Ye Wan asked, feeling a little helpless.
"That's simple. No matter how he refuses to see you, just find a way to appear before him. It's best to present him with a gift, not necessarily expensive, just something that shows your sincerity. Also, when you see him, absolutely do not mention Sun Ma!" Jin Lan cautioned.
"But Sun Ma is truly wronged."
If she didn't mention Sun Ma, wouldn't her chances as his housekeeper be even slimmer?
"Gu Yun Ting isn't foolish. Sun Ma has been with the Gu family for twenty years; does he not know Sun Ma's contributions? You don't need to worry about this at all. Just listen to me, and you'll be right. If you really want him to calm down, then when you're with him, don't mention anyone other than the two of you!" Jin Lan instructed sternly.
...
Ye Wan took the medicine Jin Lan gave her and got on the bus back to school. On the bus, she kept thinking about what Jin Lan had told her. Glancing out the window unintentionally, she saw a handmade silver jewelry shop by the roadside. The bus reached her stop, and she got off, heading towards the shop.
The shop was very small, run by a young man. When he saw Ye Wan enter, his eyes widened. It wasn't until Ye Wan spoke to him that the young man blushed and lowered his head.
Ye Wan said she wanted to make a piece of jewelry herself. The young man carefully introduced her to the options.
"Are you making it for your boyfriend?" the young man asked, blushing.
Ye Wan immediately shook her head. "No... it's for my landlord."
The young man felt a surge of joy and became even more enthusiastic. "Then you could make a men's necklace or bracelet. Any of these styles can be made."
Ye Wan looked at the intricate designs of the necklaces and bracelets. She thought, she had never seen Gu Yun Ting wear one, but sometimes he would wear a simple tail ring.
Finally, Ye Wan was drawn to a delicate men's tail ring. Its style was simple and elegant, with a single black capital letter on it.
"I want to make this," Ye Wan said, pointing to the tail ring.
The young man immediately took out the ring for Ye Wan to look at. He said, "If you want to make it, you'll need to determine the ring size of your landlord's pinky finger first."
Determining Gu Yun Ting's finger size seemed a bit difficult.
"Can it be modified after it's made?"
"Yes, as long as the difference isn't too significant."
Ye Wan decided to have the ring made first. If she had the chance, she would try to measure Gu Yun Ting's pinky finger. The young man enthusiastically led her to the crafting area, taught her how to make it, and gave her a small piece of pure silver.
For convenience, Ye Wan tied her hair into a high ponytail, lowered her head, and began to meticulously craft the ring. The young man sat nearby, watching her almost mesmerized. He thought this girl must be a fairy descended to earth; there couldn't be such a beautiful girl in the human world.
Ye Wan worked very diligently. It took nearly two hours in total. Her neck ached before she finished the ring. She then carefully engraved a capital 'g' and inside the ring, she inscribed the letters 'gyt'.
After finishing, Ye Wan was very satisfied. She liked it a lot too. She didn't have time today; she would bring Jiang Yan over to make one another day.
Once the ring was done, it needed coloring for the letters. The young man said she could pick it up the day after tomorrow and he would message her when it was ready. After exchanging WeChat details, Ye Wan paid and left.
By the time she reached the school, it was lunchtime. Jiang Yan wasn't there. Ye Wan asked Ning Xin why she wasn't around. Ning Xin said she had gone to the airport to pick up a friend, a senior, it seemed.
Ye Wan remembered Jiang Yan had mentioned several times that Senior Chu was returning. She guessed she had gone to pick up Senior Chu. Senior Chu was the one Jiang Yan's heart was set on; she had harbored a secret crush on him for many years.
