"If you can't agree to it for now..." Fu Huaishen dangled his injured right hand in front of her, a roguish smile on his face. "Until my hand recovers, you can at least take care of me, right?"
Ye Wan pursed her lips and looked at him, recalling the critical situation when he saved her. "As long as it doesn't inconvenience me, yes."
"Deal!" Fu Huaishen reached out and tapped Ye Wan's head. Ye Wan resignedly touched her forehead.
"Dry your hair first. It's cold now, don't catch a cold." Fu Huaishen nudged Ye Wan to find someone to borrow a hairdryer.
After everything was settled, Ye Cheng also woke up. Ye Wan and Fu Huaishen accompanied him for a full body check-up. The results wouldn't be out until the next day. Knowing her brother had been frightened today, Ye Wan didn't have the heart to leave him alone and ate his favorite children's meal with him.
After coaxing her brother to sleep, Ye Wan came out of the ward. Outside, there were police officers and firefighters. Fu Huaishen was also there. Seeing her emerge, he walked over and asked, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Your hand is injured, you should go back and rest early." Ye Wan frowned, looking at his bandaged hand.
"Don't try to drive me away and shirk your responsibility. The police have made a new discovery. This fire wasn't an accident; it's very likely arson."
Ye Wan looked at the man in front of her in disbelief. Fu Huaishen continued to explain, "A nurse said that after the fire started, she ran to try and get Ye Cheng out with her, but she couldn't open the door and had to escape by herself first."
"When I arrived, the ward door was open, and my brother was already unconscious on the floor!" Ye Wan's heart clenched. Had someone intended to harm her brother?
The police came over and asked Ye Wan a few questions, which she answered truthfully. Ye Wan anxiously inquired, "Officer, who wanted to harm my brother?"
"We don't know yet. We need time to investigate. Thank you for your cooperation. I'll call you if there's anything." The police then led their team to survey the scene again.
Ye Wan's legs felt weak. Fu Huaishen quickly helped her to a nearby seat. "Don't worry too much. If someone really set the fire, they'll definitely find out."
"My brother is so young, he couldn't have offended anyone... If someone really wanted to harm him, then they were targeting me." Ye Wan couldn't bear to imagine that if she hadn't decided to visit her brother at the hospital today, the sight that greeted her might have been her brother's corpse.
The thought of this possibility terrified her, and she couldn't accept it at all!
"What you're saying is highly possible, but don't scare yourself. He's fine now, and the next step is to investigate what happened." Fu Huaishen knew what she was thinking. In extreme fear, people engage in counterfactual thinking, which is scaring themselves.
"Who could be so heartless as to want to kill my brother? He's so small!" Ye Wan's tears streamed down her face. Her brother was her life; if anyone dared to touch him, she would fight them to the death!
"We'll definitely find out. Don't worry, I'll send people to guard your brother. Don't worry, this won't happen again." Fu Huaishen comforted Ye Wan.
Ye Wan looked up at him. "Thank you. I have something to attend to now, and I need to leave. I'll entrust my brother's safety to you for the time being."
"Where are you going? I'll give you a ride." Fu Huaishen looked at her angry expression, afraid she might do something foolish.
"To the Gu residence." Ye Wan said, then quickened her pace towards the exit.
