Ye Wan arrived at Gu Corporation as most employees had already left for the day, save for those working overtime. The security guards recognized her and personally escorted her to the elevator, sending her up to the executive floor.
This time, she reached Gu Yunting's office without any obstruction. The secretary, unaware of Ye Wan's identity but sensing her special connection with the president, simply directed her to wait.
As Jiang Jingxiu had mentioned, Gu Yunting was still in a meeting. The secretary brought Ye Wan a glass of juice, mentioning the meeting's unpredictable duration.
When Gu Yunting returned, he found Ye Wan asleep on the sofa, with two large thermal containers on the coffee table. His heart softened instantly.
Ye Wan, still recovering, felt drowsy and decided to lie down for a bit. She unexpectedly fell asleep. Sensing something being placed over her, she opened her eyes to see Gu Yunting's handsome face. Groggily, she murmured, "Are you done with your meeting?"
"Mmm, why are you here?" Gu Yunting asked, sitting beside her as he observed her dazed state.
"I was worried you wouldn't eat dinner if you stayed late, so I brought you some," Ye Wan replied truthfully.
"Did you eat?" Gu Yunting's gaze fell on the thermal containers, and a surge of warmth flowed through him.
"Not yet. When I got back and you weren't home, Jiang Jingxiu said you'd be busy, so I asked Aunt Sun to pack this for you. Are you hungry? Let's eat before we go back." Ye Wan sat up and began opening the thermal containers.
"I'll go to the restroom," Gu Yunting said, heading to the restroom in the lounge area.
By the time he emerged, Ye Wan had already arranged the food. She was kneeling on the floor, setting out chopsticks, and her face lit up with a smile when she saw him. She rose and sat to the side.
"Eat," Ye Wan said, personally handing him a pair of chopsticks.
Gu Yunting took them with a hint of suspicion. Ye Wan picked up her own chopsticks and served him a piece of meat. Gu Yunting then asked, "What do you want from me?"
Ye Wan paused, looking at him, and shook her head. "Nothing."
Seeing him still watching her, she continued, "Actually, I wanted to thank you for saving me. If it weren't for you, I might not have survived. Truly, I swear!"
Fearing he wouldn't believe her, she immediately raised her hand. Gu Yunting reached out, held her hand, and gently lowered it. The slight discomfort he felt vanished. "Eat. You belong to me, and I won't let anyone harm you."
Ye Wan: "..."
When did she belong to him?
"What are your plans now that your brother is discharged?" Gu Yunting asked proactively. He had initially suspected she was here to curry favor, hoping to have her brother stay at the Gu residence.
He had felt a bit annoyed earlier, disliking her efforts to please him for someone else's sake. If she didn't have such intentions, he was willing to help her resolve some issues.
"I'm still considering. My brother suggested going to a boarding school, and I think that's feasible." Ye Wan was now leaning towards a boarding school. She and Jiang Yan would soon have their own rented apartment, and she could discuss with Jiang Yan about letting her brother stay there on weekends.
"Your brother himself said he wants to go to a boarding school?" Gu Yunting frowned slightly. He hadn't expected the young man to have such ideas.
"Yes, he mentioned it to me today. I've been thinking about looking at schools for him lately," Ye Wan replied.
"Why the rush? Your brother just recovered. He needs some time to recuperate. Why don't you bring him to the Gu residence to stay for now?" Gu Yunting offered.
Ye Wan looked at him, overwhelmed and seemingly disbelieving that he would proactively suggest having her brother stay at the Gu residence.
