"He saved you and got injured?" Gu Yunting's brows furrowed.
Ye Wan recounted the day's events. Gu Yunting let out a cold laugh, "The trouble was caused by him, and his protecting you is just atonement, not saving! If it weren't for him, you wouldn't have encountered this!"
"But he did save me, and it's a fact. If he hadn't rescued me in time, I would have been disfigured by now." Ye Wan could see that the woman at the time had intended to ruin her face.
"Go back with me." Gu Yunting made it clear he had no intention of letting her stay.
Ye Wan's brow furrowed. Lin Zehan, worried that Ye Wan would suffer if she defied Gu Yunting, advised her, "You can rest assured here with me. You should go back."
Gu Yunting grabbed Ye Wan's wrist and pulled her to leave. Lin Zehan called out to him, "Gu Yunting, Ye Wan doesn't seem to be feeling well. Have Jin Lan take a look at her."
Gu Yunting, obliging, agreed and left the ward with Ye Wan.
In the car, Gu Yunting looked at her and asked, "Where do you feel unwell?"
Ye Wan shook her head, "I don't feel unwell."
Gu Yunting was speechless.
"I told you not to get involved with other men, but you wouldn't listen. Now you know the danger?" Gu Yunting pulled her towards him, his voice laced with coldness. "Men like Fu Haishen have had countless women before. If they were all as crazy as the one today, how many lives would you have to play with him?"
"I just hope he recovers quickly. I haven't thought that far ahead," Ye Wan said truthfully. She couldn't possibly think of so much right now.
"I'll say it again: stay away from him!"
Ye Wan was silent.
Even if she had to stay away, she'd have to wait until his injuries healed a bit.
Gu Yunting called Jin Lan and asked him to arrange for a doctor to examine Ye Wan at the Gu residence. In the end, Jin Lan came himself, as he didn't trust anyone else.
Ye Wan looked at Jin Lan's grim expression and asked, "What's wrong? Are you sick?"
"Just a minor car accident. My arm got a little hurt. Nothing serious," Jin Lan said dismissively.
"Your arm was almost crippled, and you call that a minor injury?" Gu Yunting exposed his lie.
Jin Lan chuckled, "Compared to yours, my injury is just minor."
Gu Yunting had sustained internal injuries and a stab wound.
Ye Wan was speechless. What was there to compare?
Jin Lan also administered an IV drip to Gu Yunting and took out a pen and paper to write a traditional Chinese medicine prescription for the housekeeper, telling her to send someone to fetch ten doses of the medicine.
"Your body needs recuperation. Taking Chinese medicine is the safest way to condition yourself. You should drink it for a month."
"Ah? Drink Chinese medicine? Can't I not drink it?" Ye Wan's head swam at the thought of drinking herbal medicine. She had drunk it once as a child, and it was incredibly bitter, not something a person could bear.
"No! You must drink it for a full month!" Jin Lan sternly refused.
Ye Wan's face was a mask of hopelessness and despair.
"Don't be upset. I'll ask Brother Ting to drink it with you too. I'll write him a prescription, and you can drink it together," Jin Lan said, feeling Gu Yunting's pulse.
Gu Yunting had suffered severe injuries a few years ago, and his body did have some underlying issues. However, no matter how much he was advised, he refused to take medicine. Jin Lan finally found an opportunity to prescribe him Chinese medicine for recuperation.
As expected, Gu Yunting no longer objected and allowed Jin Lan to take his pulse. Jin Lan then wrote another prescription and took a photo for the person buying the medicine to collect together.
