The answer was only one, Chu Ziyin.
Seeing Ye Wan lost in thought, Gu Yunting kicked the unfortunate flower basket out of the ward. He then grabbed Ye Wan's chin with enough force to crush it.
The sudden pain snapped Ye Wan back to reality, and she looked at the man. Gu Yunting's expression remained dark and terrifying. "Ye Wan, you want to die!"
He had told her he would save her, yet she had taken it upon herself to jump into the sea, gotten shot, and nearly drowned.
Her life belonged to her, and no one could take it away!
"I don't!" Ye Wan replied faintly, retorting, "It was Chu Ziyin, wasn't it!"
"I think you want to," Gu Yunting scoffed, releasing her chin. He glared at the slap mark on her face and the red finger marks on her chin, finding them exceptionally jarring. "You're addicted to jumping into the sea!"
"Mr. Gu, haven't you heard of the word 'accident'? You said you were confident you could save me, but with a group of desperate, armed kidnappers, what guarantee could you offer? One shot could end my life. I jumped into the sea to save myself! Even if I die, I don't want to be defiled by those kidnappers!" Ye Wan reasoned with him earnestly.
Gu Yunting looked at her weak and pale appearance, feeling that familiar, suffocating squeeze in his heart. He hated this feeling; it made him irritable.
"It seems Chu Ziyin wanted those people to defile me before killing me," Ye Wan added.
A flicker of rage crossed Gu Yunting's eyes upon hearing this. Ye Wan noticed it and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She had said that last part deliberately because she intended to leave Chu Ziyin no chance to recover. However, her success would depend on Gu Yunting's attitude.
Ye Wan knew Gu Yunting's hatred for her, but the emotion was complex. For instance, even if she were to die, it could only be by his hand. Anyone else touching her would be defying him.
"Why was Lin Feifei wearing your clothes?" Gu Yunting asked a question Ye Wan herself couldn't comprehend.
She shook her head honestly. "I'm not sure either. My clothes were wet and unwearable, so Miss Lin offered me something else to change into. After changing, I left my wet clothes there and went to rest elsewhere."
Gu Yunting mused thoughtfully.
"What the hell! Who's so despicable to bring chrysanthemums to the hospital to visit someone! They must have water in their brain!" Jin Lan exclaimed when he arrived, seeing the flower basket on the ground.
"I think it's quite beautiful. I've never received flowers before. Even if the first ones are chrysanthemums, they can still beautify the environment," Ye Wan said weakly.
"Hey, who slapped your face? Damn it, daring to touch you on my turf! They're really asking for it! Which blind idiot did this!"
"..."
Gu Yunting left under Jin Lan's extremely resentful gaze. As soon as he was gone, Ye Wan said, "I'm tired. I want to sleep."
"Alright, you sleep then. Call me if you need anything." As Jin Lan left, he muttered to himself that he would ensure the nurses watched her carefully so she wouldn't be bullied again.
After Jin Lan left, Ye Wan took out her phone and contacted Sun Ma, asking her to help deliver her old phone.
Sun Ma, under the guise of delivering meals, brought the phone Ye Wan requested. Seeing Ye Wan, Sun Ma's heart ached again, and tears streamed down her face.
Ye Wan was deeply touched. In this world, Sun Ma was the only one who truly cared for her.
In the middle of the night, Ye Wan changed out of her hospital gown, put on a hat and mask, and left the ward. She found an internet cafe and rented a computer.
