Chapter 89 Induced Abortion

The nurse drew a vial of blood and left. Ye Wan was then pushed into an office and locked inside.

She was no longer in a hurry, as rushing would be useless. She sat down in the office to rest. Lately, she seemed to tire more easily than before. Was it really as Jin Lan had said, that she was too thin?

Half an hour later, the door was opened. The housekeeper threw a pregnancy test slip in front of Ye Wan. Ye Wan couldn't understand what it meant. She asked, bewildered, "What does this mean?"

"Ye Wan, you're still pretending with me. Didn't you plan this? You want to get pregnant with my son's child so you can use the child to marry into the Gu family. I'm telling you, don't even think about it! I won't let you have this child!" Madam Gu glared at her furiously, not allowing even the slightest emotion to show on Ye Wan's face.

Ye Wan looked stunned. She looked at Madam Gu in disbelief, "You mean... I'm pregnant?"

Madam Gu was almost choked with anger. Her acting skills were so good! She couldn't detect any flaws with her sharp eyes.

"Ye Wan! Can you stop pretending? Why are all of you such good actors! Can't people be more genuine?"

Madam Gu was truly angered. In her youth, she had suffered because she couldn't act. She grew up in a wealthy and pampered family, with no cunning at all, which is why she lost her husband to those who could feign innocence and act.

Ye Wan fell silent. No matter what she said, Madam Gu would get angry and think she was pretending. If she explained to Madam Gu that she hadn't thought about it that way, and certainly hadn't thought about marrying Gu Yunting, Madam Gu likely wouldn't believe her either. So, it was better for her to keep quiet.

She finally understood why she had suddenly fainted, why she vomited after eating fish, and why she was so hungry. It was because there was a little baby in her belly.

"Get rid of the child! Don't let A'ting know about this!" Madam Gu commanded coldly.

Ye Wan's breath hitched. She had to... get rid of the child? But if she didn't, what else could she do? Could she have it? Would Gu Yunting acknowledge it? Even if he did, she had never considered having a child with Gu Yunting.

But she had taken a contraceptive pill after every encounter. Why was she still pregnant?

Ye Wan's mind was a mess. She thought about many things, but in the end, nothing made sense.

Finally, she came to a conclusion: this child truly couldn't be kept. It had come at the wrong time.

Ye Wan was taken to the doctor's office. Madam Gu demanded that the doctor perform an abortion immediately. The doctor hesitated and said, "Hospital regulations prohibit this kind of surgery."

"I think you don't want to be a doctor anymore. I'm telling you to do it, so you must," Madam Gu felt utterly disgusted at the thought of her grandchild coming from Ye Wan's womb.

The doctor was intimidated. She knew the Gu family's influence. She could only ask Ye Wan about her recent lifestyle habits, such as whether she had taken any medication.

Ye Wan had been injured frequently lately, and taking medicine and receiving infusions had become commonplace. Hearing this, the doctor sighed with relief, her guilt disappearing. She looked at the young woman seriously and said, "This child truly cannot be kept. You've taken so much medicine and received infusions; the child would have problems if born."

Ye Wan nodded, indicating she understood. In the past, a maid in the Gu family had taken cold medicine for a few days due to a cold, and it was said that the child born was disabled.

Her mood was incredibly complex. She hadn't planned to keep this child, but she couldn't help but wonder if this child, if born, would be as cute as Ye Cheng was when he was little.

Under Madam Gu's strong insistence, the doctor immediately prepared the operating room to perform the abortion on Ye Wan.
