"There's only one egg left," Ye Wan explained, her dewy black eyes blinking. Her long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings, incredibly cute.
"Then why are you eating it, not me?" Gu Yunting glared at her with a look of accusation.
Ye Wan felt a pang of guilt. It was indeed a Gu family egg, and he should have eaten it. But she was so hungry, she just wanted to eat an egg. So, she braced herself and said, "You already had dinner, so don't fight me for this egg."
"Who told you I had dinner?" Gu Yunting was even more displeased. When he learned she had been bullied at noon, he rushed to her school without eating. Then, because he mistakenly thought she had given away the phone he’d given her, he was so angry he skipped dinner and was now very hungry.
Ye Wan was a little surprised that he hadn't eaten either. But she really wanted the egg. So, a flash of inspiration struck her. She immediately used her chopsticks to split a whole fried egg in half, picked up one half, and placed it in his bowl. She then looked at him pleadingly, "Half each, okay? And, your half is a bit bigger!"
Gu Yunting was speechless.
Did he look blind? Her technique for splitting the egg was superb. The halves were clearly identical in size, indistinguishable to the naked eye.
He was actually satisfied with her solution. One fried egg, half for him and half for her.
He didn't necessarily have to fight her for this half-egg, but the thought of sharing a fried egg with her filled him with a strange, somewhat joyful feeling.
Looking at the little girl's pleading expression, all for half a fried egg... He wanted to call her pathetic, but in the end, he just lowered his head and said, "Eat it!"
Seeing that he wasn't contesting the half-egg anymore, Ye Wan happily lowered her head and began to eat. Her rosy lips bit into the white fried egg, and Ye Wan closed her eyes in bliss.
Gu Yunting hadn't held much hope for the bowl of noodles she’d made. He had eaten all sorts of delicacies, and the noodles didn't look appealing at first glance. But when he tasted them, he was surprisingly pleased with the flavor.
He was also genuinely hungry and quickly finished the bowl, even draining the soup completely. His stomach was satisfied, and the warm noodle soup felt incredibly comforting, but... he wasn't full.
His gaze then fell on Ye Wan's bowl. Ye Wan was biting into noodles. Seeing that he had finished and looking at her bowl with longing, she bit down hard on the noodles, breaking them, and said, "I've already bitten these noodles in my bowl! They're unhygienic, so I won't share them with you!"
She had bitten the noodles, so they definitely had her saliva on them. Ye Wan thought Gu Yunting would surely find it disgusting and wouldn't eat them.
If it were her, she wouldn't want to eat noodles that someone else had bitten!
To her surprise, Gu Yunting ignored what she said, directly pushed his bowl next to hers, and gestured with his chin for her to share some.
Ye Wan was speechless.
Had he not understood what she said?
Gu Yunting looked at Ye Wan's shocked eyes and chuckled, "Have I eaten less of your saliva? I'm not that squeamish. Hurry up, I'm hungry!"
Ye Wan's face flushed. She suddenly realized he had become a bit shameless. What was this talk about eating her saliva?
"Tsk, I've even eaten yours..."
"Stop talking, I'll share with you, I'll share!" Ye Wan knew what he was about to say and wanted to shut him up. She didn't want to hear such suggestive words; she would be so embarrassed she'd want to crawl into a hole. She quickly divided more than half of the noodles from her bowl and pushed his bowl back to him.
