The park in early winter already showed signs of desolation. The leaves had fallen from the trees, and the snow from a few days prior had turned into mud. What was once a pleasing white had become something everyone disdained.
Snowflakes began to fall from the sky again. It was snowing again, and this year's snow seemed to be more abundant than in previous years.
Ye Wan took out her phone and called Jin Lan, asking, "Where is Gu Yunting?"
Jin Lan was bewildered. "???"
Was the sun rising from the west? Ye Wan was actually taking the initiative to contact Brother Ting?
"You're looking for him... for what?" Jin Lan asked cautiously. In truth, he didn't know where Gu Yunting was. After being blocked, he hadn't seen Brother Ting since.
He had also asked the bodyguards, but they either didn't know or had been ordered not to say.
"Where is he now?" Ye Wan asked, her voice choked with tears.
"I don't know, I really don't. After we met at the restaurant that day, he hasn't seen me again. He even blocked my contact information a few days ago." Jin Lan could only tell the truth.
"Would Jiang Jingxiu know?" Ye Wan's heart sank halfway. She only had two days left. If she couldn't find Gu Yunting, her brother would be beyond saving.
"If I don't know, he's even less likely to know. Ye Wan, what exactly do you need Brother Ting for?" Jin Lan pressed on.
"My brother developed an adverse reaction after his surgery. His condition is very critical now," Ye Wan explained, closing her eyes against the sharp pain in her chest.
"Then why are you looking for Brother Ting?" Jin Lan didn't understand the connection.
"He is the only person in this world who can save my brother," Ye Wan's voice was hoarse.
Jin Lan was speechless.
"Holy crap, no way. After all this back and forth, how did Gu Yunting end up being a match for Ye Wan's little brother?"
"Jin Lan, please help me find him. I'm running out of time. Please," Ye Wan was desperate and begged him.
"Alright, alright. Don't worry, I'll notify you immediately if I hear anything about him. Don't rush too much, we'll definitely find him." Jin Lan felt that this was a trap set by Gu Yunting, designed to make Ye Wan return to him obediently. He would surely show up then.
But Ye Wan didn't know that. She thought she had thoroughly offended Gu Yunting and that he wouldn't possibly want to help her!
She had resolved earlier that no matter the cost, she had to save her brother.
It didn't matter if the person she needed was Gu Yunting!
Ye Wan had been searching for Gu Yunting everywhere he might be, but the result was always that Gu Yunting wasn't there.
It had been snowing for a whole day, turning the world into a pure white expanse again. Ye Wan stood on the street, lost and helpless, not knowing where to go. Her hands and feet had long since gone numb from the cold, but she was oblivious, still standing there, letting the snowflakes turn her white-haired.
If her brother truly left this world, what meaning would her own life hold?
A black car drove past Ye Wan. The familiar license plate made her body tremble. That arrogant license plate had once been her nightmare, but now it was her lifeline.
"Gu Yunting!"
Ye Wan cried out. But the luxury car was moving fast, and within seconds, it was almost disappearing at the end of the road. She chased after it as if she were mad.
But no matter how fast she ran, she couldn't keep up with the wheels. She couldn't give up; she was running out of time. The snow was still falling, and Ye Wan ran down the street. The snowflakes falling on her head were blown away by the wind. Her feet slipped, and she fell repeatedly. In the end, she lost count of how many times she fell. Her clothes were dirty, her hair was messy, and her hands were scraped, but she still didn't give up.
