Regarding finding a school for Ye Cheng, Ye Wan sought help from Lin Zehan. Three schools were found: two with day programs and one boarding school. Without a second thought, Ye Cheng chose the boarding school.
"You can opt for a day program too. Then we could be together every day. Don't you want that?" Ye Wan asked him.
"Of course, I want to be with Sister every day, but Sister is still a student and needs to study well. Being able to stay with Sister every weekend already makes me super happy!" Ye Cheng's large eyes sparkled as he looked at her.
Ye Wan also wished she could take care of her brother every day, but she knew it was unlikely. Not to mention her own studies and part-time job, she felt it wouldn't be easy to move out of the Gu residence.
These were tumultuous times, so it was better for Ye Cheng to stay at a boarding school.
Once everything was settled, Lin Zehan personally took Ye Wan and Ye Cheng to the school to enroll. It was a school that offered programs from kindergarten to high school, with excellent teachers and facilities. Ye Cheng's teacher was named Huang, a very gentle woman, which put Ye Wan at ease.
After settling Ye Cheng in, Ye Wan and Lin Zehan left the school. Ye Wan asked about Lin Feiwèi.
"She's causing trouble at home every day. Mom and Dad are disappointed in her, but they can't kick her out. I haven't been home for several days." Lin Zehan had no desire to return to the Lin family at the moment; the entire household was being thrown into chaos by Lin Feiwèi.
She was indiscreet and had the nerve to cause a scene when her fiancé caught her. Lin Zehan couldn't believe their family had raised such a woman who willingly debased herself!
Therefore, Lin Feiwèi was inherently bad! Changing her environment wouldn't make her better!
"Are you really leaving the Gu residence? Will Gu Yunting let you go?" Lin Zehan looked at her with concern.
"I've made up my mind. I will never go back!" Ye Wan's eyes turned resolute. If Gu Yunting forced her back, he would have to carry her corpse.
"You can move in with me. With me around, Gu Yunting might be a bit more hesitant."
"No, I want to be independent." Ye Wan knew Gu Yunting wouldn't give up easily, and she didn't want to cause trouble for Lin Zehan.
Having interacted with her for a while, Lin Zehan had a rough understanding of her personality. Once she decided on something, she wouldn't change her mind. Her stubbornness was quite something.
The siblings had dinner together, and Lin Zehan drove Ye Wan back to her school. After classes, Ye Wan returned to the apartment she had rented.
After a simple dinner and washing the dishes, she went back to her room to study. After more than an hour of studying, she turned off the lights and went to sleep.
Ye Wan had expected to fall asleep quickly, but she suffered from insomnia. She tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Gu Yunting's face kept flashing in her mind, and her chest ached faintly. She sat up, clutching her chest, unsure what was happening to her.
Could it be that she was reluctant to leave Gu Yunting?
This thought startled Ye Wan. She quickly shook off the terrifying notion, got up to pour a glass of water, and after an unknown amount of tossing and turning back in her room, she finally fell asleep.
Today, Ye Wan intended to reapply for her documents. Her identification was with Gu Yunting, which made things inconvenient. To retrieve them as soon as possible, she had to ask Lin Zehan for help again.
Lin Zehan found her polite attitude towards him somewhat helpless and told her that as family, she didn't need to thank him so often.
It was another day of calm, so calm that it made Ye Wan uneasy, fearing it was the silence before the storm. She walked home after school. As she opened the door and entered, she sensed something was amiss.
A small red booklet had appeared on the coffee table. It shouldn't have been there; there was nothing there when she left in the morning.
