Ye Wan quickly picked up. Gu Yunting commanded, "Come out, I'm at your school gate."
"Do you need something? I didn't go to school today. I recently took on a translation project and am currently out of town."
Ye Wan knew Gu Yunting disliked Jun Li Chen and dared not tell him she was translating for him.
"Ye Wan, would you like to have lunch together?" Jun Li Chen asked her.
Ye Wan immediately shook her head, indicating no. Gu Yunting also heard this and immediately recognized the voice as her so-called senior.
"Where are you? I'll come pick you up." Gu Yunting's eyes turned cold. He wanted to see what she was up to. Did she really think everyone else was a fool?
Once, twice, thrice... it was all because of this man!
"Where do you want to eat? I'll take a taxi there, it'll be faster." Ye Wan was indeed a bit guilty and didn't want Gu Yunting to know where she worked.
Gu Yunting's gaze grew colder. He stated an address. After Ye Wan noted it down, she hailed a taxi for herself. She tidied up briefly and informed Jun Li Chen before leaving the company.
Watching her leave, Jun Li Chen's expression was blank as he stood up and returned to his office. He took a photo from his drawer; it showed a man and a woman holding a child, looking like a family of three. He let out a sneer and tossed the photo back.
...
During lunch, Gu Yunting asked Ye Wan, "What are your plans for your younger brother?"
"Boarding school." Ye Wan had thought it through. She herself intended to escape the Gu residence and absolutely could not bring her brother along, as it would only create more trouble.
Gu Yunting didn't say much, but the depths of his eyes turned colder. After the meal, Gu Yunting drove Ye Wan back to school. Ye Wan bid him farewell and pretended to walk back into campus.
Only when Gu Yunting saw her figure disappear did he take out his phone and call, "Investigate that Jun Li Chen!"
This man had provoked him repeatedly; he didn't believe it was just a coincidence.
...
In the afternoon, when Ye Wan returned to the company, Jun Li Chen told her, "Ye Wan, you need to go on a business trip with me. There's been an issue in City A, and we need to rush over to handle it quickly and send it to the client."
"Now? When will you be back?" Ye Wan frowned slightly. She was completely unprepared for a sudden business trip.
"If things go smoothly, we should be back by the first half of the night," Jun Li Chen said, glancing at his wristwatch.
Ye Wan nodded in agreement. She quickly packed her belongings and left the company with Jun Li Chen.
A van was waiting for them downstairs. After they got in, the driver drove them out of Jing City and onto the highway towards City A.
City A was very close to Jing City; it only took about two hours to drive there. Therefore, Ye Wan had no reason to doubt Jun Li Chen's statement about returning by night.
Ye Wan wasn't idle after getting into the car; she was translating a document. However, after a while, she started to feel sleepy. She yawned and said, "Senior, I'm a bit tired. I'll sleep for a while. Wake me when we arrive."
"Okay, you sleep," Jun Li Chen said. He even thoughtfully took a blanket and covered her with it.
Ye Wan thanked him, lowered the car seat, and quickly fell asleep.
Jun Li Chen looked at the young woman beside him. His previously gentle and modest expression completely vanished. He leaned closer to Ye Wan, his finger lightly brushing across her soft cheek, his eyes filled with madness.
