Chapter 429 Arranging a Blind Date

"No, it was the cook. She just left because of something," Jin Lan told a small lie.

Chu Yu's brow furrowed, a sense of annoyance stirring within him. Would a cook leave behind a scent like this? When he used to visit his uncle's house before, the entire place always smelled of disinfectant, but today there was fragrance.

Recalling that Jiang Yan had recently been threatening to break up with him, his hand clenched into a fist. His gaze swept under the dining table in the distance and indeed, he spotted a foot that hadn't been retracted in time.

Jiang Yan!

Had the two of them already moved in together impatiently?

Chu Yu felt a powerful surge in his chest. Jin Lan pulled him to sit in the living room and asked, "Is there something you need?"

"Nothing, I was just tired of my mother's nagging and wanted to stay here for a couple of days. You know how my mom wants to arrange blind dates for me, but I have a girlfriend, and I love her very much. How could I possibly accept a blind date?" Chu Yu looked earnestly at his uncle.

Hearing this made Jin Lan even more irritable. Thinking about how he couldn't control himself whenever he saw Jiang Yan, and that they had spent an entire night together yesterday, he said, "If you have a girlfriend, you really shouldn't accept blind dates."

"Uncle, I knew you would stand on my side. Please help me talk to Mom." Chu Yu said.

"If your relationship with your girlfriend is strong, you won't need my persuasion, and your mother won't be able to break you up."

"But my girlfriend, I don't know what's gotten into her, she said she wants to break up with me. I know she might not want to drag me down, but I really don't fear being dragged down. Uncle, I truly love her," Chu Yu looked at his uncle with deep sadness.

Jin Lan frowned. "How do you know she wants to break up with you because she doesn't want to drag you down? Maybe she just wants to break up with you."

"That's impossible, Uncle. You don't understand my love with Jiang Yan. We knew each other since high school; we were each other's first love. I had a crush on her, and she had a crush on me. After returning to the country, I confessed my feelings, and she told me about her love for me in high school. Uncle, do you think a first love... can be let go of so easily?" As Chu Yu lowered his head, a hint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes.

Jin Lan's heart tightened slightly. A secret crush in school, and a first love – it was indeed beautiful and unforgettable.

"Then find her and ask for clarification. I'm a bit tired and want to rest quietly alone at home. You should go." Jin Lan's mood was agitated, and it showed on his face.

"Uncle, you're too heartless. You won't even care about your own nephew. Did you find a little aunt for me?" Chu Yu asked with a deliberate smile.

"That's not true," Jin Lan denied immediately.

"That's right. How could I forget? Uncle also had a first love, and you've been waiting for my little aunt all along."

Jin Lan's expression immediately turned grim. He grabbed Chu Yu and pushed him towards the door. "Hurry back and find your mother. Matters of the heart are black and white. Don't be so indecisive. You're not a child anymore!"

Chu Yu was pushed out. He turned back and braced himself against the closing door. "Uncle, I love Jiang Yan, and she loves me. I won't give up on her. Only I can give her happiness! I will definitely get my mother to agree."

Jin Lan pushed him out expressionlessly and closed the door.

He immediately turned and went to the dining room to look for Jiang Yan, only to see the girl sitting there, hugging her knees, tears streaming down her face. She was biting her finger hard to keep herself from making a sound.

"Don't bite!" Jin Lan hurried to pry her mouth open, wanting her to release her finger.

Jiang Yan suddenly shoved him away forcefully, stood up, and stumbled towards the bathroom. With a bang, the bathroom door was shut, and the sound of running water came from inside.
