Chapter 59: Preparations-3
When it came to picking the right weapon for Dio, it was pretty tough — the guy on his own was a weapon of mass destruction.
So instead of giving him a weapon, Roy just had to give him something that would enhance his prowess.
That’s where this came in...
[Epic Item: Ultrasonic Ring]
This was a buff item. It didn’t buff damage directly, though — it instead tracked its user’s movements, adding ultrasonic vibrational force to sharp-based attacks.
It used the principle of a chainsaw, adding vibrational force to a blade to increase its cutting capacity.
With this, it could add its vibrational buff to Dio’s claws and fangs, increasing the lethality of his attacks.
It was a perfect match for him — and the cheapest of all items purchased so far, going for 56,890 JP.
Dio accepted the ring solemnly and immediately slid it onto his finger. Unlike the others, he had a high reverence for his Lord, especially after witnessing all his feats back in the dungeon.
So this upcoming battle didn’t give him much sense of urgency, as he had a steady belief that there was nothing his Lord couldn’t overcome.
After handing the ring over to Dio, Roy turned to the stoic beauty. "Layla, this is for you..."
Among them, Layla was actually the easiest to pick a weapon for. She had a skill — Weapon Handsman — that allowed her total mastery over any weapon she got her hands on.
So he got her something more simple: an SMG.
[Epic SMG: INP-9 Molten Lava]
A masterfully crafted submachine gun, completely automated, with a fire rate that was off the charts — though in exchange, it sacrificed both caliber size and damage rate.
But despite this, it was a pretty light weapon, easy to wield. And after a sophisticated customization, Roy managed to boost its mag capacity to 45 from its low 20.
Costing a total sum of 99,999 JP...
Absolutely worth its price. And the comparatively low damage would be made up for because of its user’s high level. After all, the moment he handed it to his subordinates, the weapon became bound to their souls, growing accordingly with their levels.
Meaning this would be a Level 30 Epic SMG. No matter how little its damage might be in comparison to other epics, it would still be high in terms of its grade.
"Thank you, Master." Layla accepted the weapon with a slight nod, her expression warming a bit.
Indeed, she hadn’t judged wrongly — this guy, this Lord of hers, was definitely a great, generous man. Not a glory-hogging scum.
Roy glanced at Ethan, revealing a sapphire-blue, sacred-looking staff. "This is for you."
[Summoner’s Rod: Epic Grade]
The function of the item was simple: boost capabilities of all summons by 75%!
Holy shit. The moment the rod landed in Ethan’s hands and he quickly grasped its function, he couldn’t help but gasp, stunned.
Never did he dream that all the items handed out would be Epic Grade.
He was quite knowledgeable about Arcana as a whole, and he was pretty sure that other Lords would be hoarding Epic Grade items — treating them like highly important ancestral divine items not to be shared.
But here his Lord was, casually gifting them Epic Grade items and weapons.
If he had doubted serving Roy before, now whatever doubt he might have had had vanished. This was only the beginning stage — what sort of items would they be playing with months from now?
The question made his heart race with excitement and expectation.
And finally, it was Jake’s turn...
The most suitable weapon for Jake was pretty obvious — all he needed was a sniper.
[Epic Sniper: Remington M700 Hell Render]
Jake’s eyes lit up as he quickly accepted the weapon with a bow.
He had really thought he would end up with something like a bow and arrow back during his descent. To think there was such a highly advanced, drastically long-ranged weapon — this was interesting.
And with that, Roy was done. He then proceeded to provide those who would be needing ammo with mountains of it to keep. Roy had kept himself busy all this while crafting ammo every second, and as of now, the amount of ammo he had produced was staggering.
He had enough to make sure they could engage in battle uninterrupted without his presence — for a good month without running out of ammunition.
"Good. Now that that’s done with, you can leave. Go familiarize yourselves with your respective squads, and get as much rest as you might need — I have a feeling we won’t be chanced once the battle starts." Roy excused them.
And they strutted off excitedly, giddy to test their new toys...
Now he was left alone with Alpha — his prime worry.
System, is there really no way for beasts to equip items?
[Even if you put an item on a beast, it would be incapable of using it. Such is the rule...
If Host is worried about how beast subordinates would fare with corruption, Host needn’t worry. Bites and scratches from Variants wouldn’t have the same effect on them.
Corruption targets intelligence and the mind — both of which are not beasts’ strong suits. So they are basically immune to its effects.]
Roy sighed in relief. That was his worry. Though he knew beasts had tougher hides than humans, their hides couldn’t compare to cold, ether-reinforced metal.
But now, after this explanation, he could rest easy.
Now it was time to use his 2 Sure Draw Coupons.
He quickly entered the Gacha space, glancing at the two Epic Packs he had chosen to redeem.
[Featured Weapon: GHR-19 Death Ray — Epic Edition]
[Featured Weapon: Death Bolt Long Taser — Epic Edition]
[Does Host confirm the usage of Sure Draw Coupons to redeem items above?]
"Yes," Roy quickly answered.
One was a laser gun, and the other was an Epic-ranked stick taser. Hopefully, such a high-grade taser would be able to withstand his skill Electric Amp (SS).
Roy rubbed his hands in expectation as two virtual chests landed before him. He quickly tapped them as they burst into amethyst-like cadence, showing the acquisition of the two featured items.
Finally, he was fully prepared. He had set up all he needed, and all that was in his power.
Right now, he needed a well-deserved rest to charge his mind. After all, carrying a weary mind to battle was suicide.
Sprawling on his extra comfortable recliner, he reached for some doughnuts and a can of extra creamy cappuccino mix.
[Calamity Impending: 20h:31m:28s]
There was nothing to do now but wait...
...
"Kekekekkeke, the rift is almost open! Ah the sweet scent of ether soaked souls... Oh my I can’t wait to have a feast."
Cackled A skeleton dressed in rags, holding a scepter seemingly made of bones dinstince rotting flesh could still be seen on it.
If one were just to look behind this figure one would spot a legion of endless tides, standing forzen, gazing at the shaman in expectation.
The creature of corruption remained silent, no growls, no howls, only drools, they were hungry... And they were going to be fed!
