Chapter 13 The Future God Emerges

Two more zombies rushed out of the teaching building, and An Nuan dealt with them swiftly and efficiently.

Without exception, there were crystals inside their heads.

An Nuan was overjoyed.

She had only intended to kill a few zombies to test her luck. Now, it would be a disservice to herself if she didn't slaughter all the zombies on campus.

Subsequently, four or five more zombies, rushing out intermittently, were all dealt with by An Nuan.

An Nuan beckoned to Luoluo. "Come here."

"What for..."

"You’ve seen me fight for so long, you should have a rough idea by now. You'll be the main attacker, and I'll assist."

An Nuan forcefully pulled her over and shoved a bone-cutting knife into her hand.

Watching countless reality shows was not as useful as a single practical experience.

Luoluo trembled all over, instinctively recoiling in fear.

An Nuan placed a hand on her shoulder. "What are you afraid of? They're just rotten, decaying humans. Just aim for the head and chop!"

An Nuan stayed close to Luoluo's waist and pushed her forward with force as the zombie approached.

Luoluo let out a muffled cry, closed her eyes, and swung the knife down. A head flew to An Nuan's feet.

An Nuan applauded. "Well done! I'll reward you with a big chicken leg when we get home!"

The more beautiful a woman was, the harder it was to survive in the apocalypse.

But a beautiful, ruthless, and intelligent woman would live a magnificent life.

For instance, An Tianxin was a prime example.

Luoluo slowly opened her eyes and turned to An Nuan, forcing a very ugly smile.

If it weren't for the darkness, her pale face would have been visible at this moment.

An Nuan squatted down to collect the crystal, and Luoluo breathed a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted from An Nuan's blind spot.

"Watch out! Move!"

Someone lunged at Luoluo, knocking her to the ground.

The zombie charged straight at An Nuan.

She drew the dagger from her boot and threw it, hitting the zombie squarely in the head.

An Nuan walked over, pulled the dagger from its head, and unearthed a blue crystal.

She pocketed the item and helped the two of them up.

"Are you okay? Student, you are..."

"I'm Chang Kaitong from Class Three, Grade Two. Hello, heroine!"

"Chang Kaitong?"

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!

An Nuan's mind was flooded with a million expletives.

Chang Kaitong, the first Rank Eight esper in her previous life, had appeared before her here!

What incredible luck!

Chang Kaitong alertly covered An Nuan's mouth.

He scanned his surroundings vigilantly. Seeing no zombies attacking, Chang Kaitong lowered his voice and told them.

"Around one o'clock, some of the canteen staff suddenly went mad and attacked people. Everyone was in a panic, and they hid in their rooms, locking their doors and windows."

An Nuan examined the dormitory building's structure.

The main entrance had a layer of thick transparent glass doors, followed by an iron grille door.

Another iron gate stood twenty meters beyond that.

The few zombies earlier had come from within the iron gate; they were blocked outside the grille door and hadn't managed to enter the dormitories.

"Chang Kaitong, were you also locked outside and unable to get into the dorms?"

Chang Kaitong lowered his head. "The food in the dorm ran out. A few days ago, during a party, there was still plenty of food in the teaching building. I came with about ten classmates to move supplies and didn't have time to go back..."

Luoluo was furious and yelled at the dormitory building.

"Are you even human? These are your classmates, and you're treating them like this!"

A student inside shouted, "We locked the doors on the teacher's orders."

"It was our order! As teachers, we are responsible for the safety of our students. What if we let the zombies in? Would you be responsible?"

"Exactly! At critical moments, sacrificing the few to save the many is a necessity!"

"Chang Kaitong, as class monitor, you should understand this principle!"

Chang Kaitong looked up and sneered. "I understand perfectly!"

"Chang Kaitong! You've truly chilled us to the bone!"

"I am also chilled to the bone!" Chang Kaitong said coldly.

"Teacher Liu, you were the one who personally locked the iron gate."

"You personally told us to get lost and not to attract monsters."

"Have you thought about the classmates who died? Have you thought about how the living will face this in the future? You haven't!"

"We are all orphans sponsored to this school. We are not like those pampered elites, so our lives are unimportant."

An Nuan looked at his demeanor and couldn't help but admire him.

Not even eighteen, and he already possessed such courage. He truly was the future Rank Eight powerhouse.

"Chang Kaitong, are there any other survivors in the teaching building?"

Chang Kaitong's eyes immediately welled up with tears. "Ten minutes before you arrived, Xiao Hua was also bitten and died. He's over there."

Chang Kaitong pointed towards the basketball hoop.

A boy, about Chang Kaitong's size, was tied to the basketball hoop with a thick jump rope.

Such a fine young man, who could have been saved, was a pity.

An Nuan walked over with the bone-cutting knife, intending to give Xiao Hua a quick end.

Chang Kaitong followed and snatched the knife from her hand.

"What are you doing!" Luoluo was very worried.

"Sister, let me do it. Xiao Hua was my roommate, and my best friend. He died in my place!"

"Are you sure you can?"

An Nuan knew what it felt like to kill a loved one.

Even if the person had turned into a zombie, deep down, one still saw them as family or friends.

This guilt would often plague people, waking them from nightmares.

Chang Kaitong nodded.

"I'll do it. I'll send him off on his last journey."

"Alright, but you'll have to open his head. I want the crystal from his brain."

A flicker of joy and relief crossed Chang Kaitong's eyes.

He walked up to Xiao Hua, his eyes red, and said, "Go well."

He closed his eyes and swung the knife down. Xiao Hua fell silent.

He handed the green crystal to An Nuan.

An Nuan: "Okay, let's go."

"Us?"

"Of course. I really admire you, sister. Come with me. I have food and drinks at home, and two cats for you to pet. It's a good deal!"

Chang Kaitong looked at her with surprise and joy.

An Nuan wasn't a saint who would take in everyone.

She only accepted two kinds of people.

One was like Luoluo, someone with an existing bond and who was good to her.

The second was useful people.

Chang Kaitong was the second type.

She wanted to raise him for a few years. When she and Luoluo got older and their zombie-slaying speed slowed down, they would rely on this Rank Eight powerhouse.

Raising a wolfdog-like young man, she thought, sounded rather satisfying.

"Because you called me 'sister,' I'll accept you as my little brother!"

Many people from the dormitory building pushed open their windows.

"I'll call you sister too, sister, take me with you!"

"Me too, you're my biological sister. If you ensure my safety back there, I'll give your dad 100,000 yuan."

"I'll give you 300,000!"

"Damn it, you're trying to snatch her from me, you bastard!"

The people in one dormitory started fighting.

An Nuan glanced at her watch. It was already 5:30. She could go back, take a shower, and get some sleep in the morning.

She prepared to leave with her group.

Curses echoed from behind.

"Are you even human? Abandoning us here and refusing to help, you're a beast!"
