Chapter 5 How Terrifying the Words Were

"Master, it should be Yun Yueyin," Jing Heng reported in a low voice, his eyes narrowed.

"If you don't get down now, everyone in your carriage will be dealt with as traitors!"

"Master?" Jing Heng gnashed his teeth, a fierce bloodlust burning within him.

He was losing control!

How dare they disrespect the master so!

He wanted to tear out their hearts and crush them!

Yun Shu lifted the carriage curtain and alighted.

Jing Heng froze when he saw Yun Shu's face, then realized. The master had disguised herself!

"What if I don't apologize?" Yun Shu asked indifferently, looking at the arrogant maid.

Perhaps unused to such audacious people, the maid was momentarily stunned.

But the people in the carriage couldn't sit still.

"How dare you!"

A furious shout, full of the majesty of a noble's son.

A commoner would have been rendered speechless by such a command.

The maid, Qiao'er, was smug, even more so now that she saw Yun Shu was ugly and dark-skinned. Her attitude became even more arrogant. "If you anger our young lady, you won't get away with it! I see you're going to the capital, aren't you? If you want to establish yourself in the capital, you'd better apologize to our young lady properly!"

"That sounds terrifying," Yun Shu chuckled.

"You know it's terrifying, so why aren't you kneeling?" Qiao'er reprimanded coldly.

Jing Heng couldn't hold back. The murderous intent he was suppressing was about to erupt, his gaze, as cold as a hellish envoy, fixed on Qiao'er. "You're courting death!"

Qiao'er was startled, looking at Jing Heng, who stood beside Yun Shu, with dread.

How could a mere driver be so terrifying?

No, no, what was she afraid of!

"I think you're the ones who are blind, truly courting death!" Qiao'er straightened her back, looking at Yun Shu and Jing Heng with disdain.

Others might not know, but Yun Shu knew very well that when Jing Heng said "courting death," he meant literally disemboweling and killing.

"Now, have your young lady kneel and kowtow to me thirty times. Out of sheer benevolence, I'll let you enter the city safely, how about that?" Yun Shu smiled charmingly, her tone carrying an air of detached condescension and charity.

Qiao'er's eyes widened in shock. "Are you mad?"

Knowing that the young lady was the daughter of a general, and still daring to speak such nonsense!

The people in the carriage could no longer contain themselves and alighted.

Her delicate face contorted with rage, she pointed at Yun Shu imperiously. "You dare to ask me to kowtow thirty times? You think you're worthy! You're just a lowly commoner, and if I kill you now, no one will dare to say a word!"

Yun Shu felt a pang of disappointment when she saw the woman.

It wasn't Yun Yueyin after all.

It was Yun Ying.

After the original host's mother died in childbirth, her father had remained unmarried. But one day, after being plied with wine by a colleague, he woke up in bed with a courtesan. Ten years later, the courtesan and her daughter, Yun Ying, showed up.

At the time, Yun Shu's father, Yun Changfeng, hadn't had time to investigate Yun Ying and her mother's identities and, amidst gossip, let them into the household.

In the years since, Yun Changfeng had been in poor spirits, speaking little, and neglecting household affairs.

In the past two years, there had been conflict at the border, and it was Yun Yueyin's father who led the troops to defend it.

This information was all gathered by Jing Heng. This was why she had returned to the capital.

Besides seeking revenge, she also wanted to make an appearance and help the original host's father regain his spirit.

Looking at Yun Ying, who might not be the original host's sister, Yun Shu's smile became very gentle.

Yun Ying had bullied the original host quite a bit before!

She had even made the original host drink horse urine, fall into a cesspit, and be mocked by everyone...
