Chapter 330 - 325: Apocalypse Sisters

Chapter 330: Chapter 325: Apocalypse Sisters

Li Lewei actually never finished reading this novel; she only started because it was written by her roommate, who was sneakily hiding it from her. It piqued her suspicion, so she took the chance to read it while her roommate was away. Unexpectedly, she came across her own name halfway through, appearing merely as a nobody in Ying Yiming’s subordinate’s memory, existing solely to illustrate how Ying Yiming had quickly advanced his powers through obtaining the Crystal Core.

After realizing that her roommate had written her character as a brainless nobody, Li Lewei was so furious that she shut down her computer. Before she had the chance to confront her roommate, she transmigrated into the book. Thus, Li Lewei really didn’t know what the apocalypse would be like later on.

All she knew was that Ying Yiming was the male protagonist who established the largest base in the apocalypse, and Ye Dong was the powerful female protagonist. Precisely because she was unaware of the later plot, Li Lewei had been trying every means to get close to Ying Yiming from the very beginning; she didn’t want to die again.

The giant octopus hadn’t fully shown itself yet; just a few of its tentacles had already disabled the large ship. Li Lewei stood on the deck, clinging desperately to a pillar beside her. Right next to her was her body’s mother, Zhao Lihua, who was utterly terrified, with eyes wide open, screaming non-stop. Li Lewei looked away in disgust.

Ying Yiming stood at the bow, holding a sharp military saber. Upon closer inspection, one could see a faint golden glow on its surface. Ordinary weapons couldn’t leave a mark on the giant octopus but Ying Yiming’s saber could make deep cuts on its tentacles, a testament to his Gold Element Superpower in action.

The giant octopus, wounded, became even more furious. Its tentacles tightly clung to the ship, the wide river churned with roiling waves, and the ship rocked violently, causing some of the less enduring people to fall into the river.

"Le Wei, hold onto the pillar tightly, don’t let go," Zhao Lihua said, her voice quivering with the verge of collapse, yet she was constantly looking out for her daughter.

Li Lewei’s feelings were complicated. She was not the original Li Lewei, and naturally, she did not have that mother-daughter affection for Zhao Lihua. Especially after witnessing Zhao Lihua’s panic and helplessness in the face of the apocalypse, she somewhat despised her.

Despite being in such dire straits herself, Zhao Lihua still worried about her, which made Li Lewei feel a little better toward her.

"Luo Yong, Zhao Guangnian, I’m going down with two Water-element superpower users; you guys keep watch from above," Ying Yiming said gravely. Two superpower users had already been lost—they couldn’t delay any longer, or everyone on the ship would be at risk.

"Yes!"

The river’s surface was turbulent with waves raised by the giant octopus; the water became too muddy to see through. Apart from the octopus, one couldn’t tell what else was hidden beneath. Going into the water now was likely to be disastrous, but they had no choice. Due to the continuous heavy rain recently, the river had widened more than two or three times its normal width. Without eliminating the giant octopus, no one could hope to survive crossing it.

Li Lewei was a Wood Element Superpower user with a currently low level, barely able to contribute. All she could do was ensure her own safety as much as possible. She couldn’t die; she absolutely refused to exist solely in someone else’s memories as she had in the novel.

"Ahh!" People on the ship screamed loudly as the large ship suddenly rocked violently.

Perhaps it was Ying Yiming and the others attacking underwater, the giant octopus shook the ship so hard it nearly flipped over. If not for Luo Yong using his Fire Element Superpower to repel one of the octopus’s tentacles, perhaps everyone would have fallen into the water.

Li Lewei was still in the midst of acute panic. While reading the book, she never felt the apocalypse was this treacherous. She thought that, after seeing the zombies and mutant animals over the past few days, she had a clear understanding of the world. But it was today that she realized she had been too optimistic.

Especially now, at the crossroads of life and death, she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but she always felt the giant octopus’s tentacles were about to hit her no matter where she stood. If not for Luo Yong protecting her, she might have already been dragged into the depths.

Is this the law of the book’s world? Because she was a nobody, does she have to die?

I refuse to believe that I will die.

Li Lewei bit her pale lips hard, drenched from head to toe due to the violent rocking of the ship, looking utterly disheveled, yet her eyes were filled with unwavering determination.

My fate is mine to control, not destiny’s. I, Li Lewei, won’t just accept my lot so easily!

While Luo Yong was attacking the Big Octopus’s tentacles with his Fire Element Superpower, he also kept an eye on Li Lewei’s movements. Seeing her in such a sorry state, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of distress. A delicate and beautiful little princess like her should be living happily in a castle, not wandering through the apocalyptic wastelands.

Perhaps he had fallen for her the first day she smiled at him, but he knew he wasn’t worthy of her, and he knew that her gaze had always been fixed on the team captain. Thus, for her happiness, he was content to silently protect her from behind.

The Big Octopus’s tentacle struck fiercely towards Li Lewei again, and Luo Yong swiftly stepped in front of her, his Fire Element Superpower hitting the tentacle and releasing a strange burnt aroma.

"Boom!" Ying Yiming and two other Water-element superpower users launched another fierce assault from underneath the water, causing the head of the Big Octopus to emerge above the surface. All the Superpower Users on the ship seized the moment and unleashed their strongest attacks.

"Le Wei!" Zhao Lihua screamed in horror and then dashed towards Li Lewei at a speed unparalleled by any ordinary person. The next moment, they were both engulfed in the black ink.

"Quickly, use water!" Luo Yong shouted anxiously.

The black ink was clearly poisonous. Zhao Lihua, being an ordinary person, curled up in agonizing pain and soon stopped moving.

Although Zhao Lihua took most of the ink for her, some of it splashed onto Li Lewei’s limbs. Every spot the ink touched felt like it was being scorched by searing flames, and even the superpower she had managed to develop over the past few days was chaotically surging through her body.

Am I really going to die? Can I truly not escape fate?

In her dazed and confused state, Li Lewei thought indistinctly, never having hated her roommate as much as in this very moment.

The pain was too much, the sensation of being burned by the ink was excruciating!

Ying Yiming glanced at Zhao Lihua and Li Lewei lying on the deck, his heart tightened, but he knew stopping their attack on the Big Octopus now would only provoke an even more ferocious counterattack.

"Aim for its eyes." Ying Yiming’s sharp eyes fixed on the Big Octopus, his military saber glowing brightly as he targeted its right eye.

The worry for Li Lewei in Luo Yong’s heart grew heavier and heavier, he used all his strength to direct the roaring flames towards the Big Octopus’s left eye.
