Chapter 325 - 320: Apocalypse Sisters

Chapter 325: Chapter 320: Apocalypse Sisters

"Roar!" The zombie paid no attention to Ye Dong’s words, extending its arms and continuously growling. It possessed immense strength; even the bookcase and dining table began to shift under its movements.

Ye Dong felt the extreme fear in her heart. She took a deep breath and then flung the kitchen knife in her hand towards the zombie’s head.

It seemed that in the face of danger, she had tapped into her potential. Her aim was accurate, and the knife struck the zombie’s head, but it did not die. Even as brain matter oozed out, it still instinctively tried to push away the objects in front of it, moving towards Ye Dong.

"Gross." Ye Dong felt so disgusted that her stomach started to churn. She ran back to the kitchen, grabbed a frying pan, and, enduring the revulsion, dealt a vicious blow to the zombie’s head.

This time it truly lay dead, but soon Ye Dong realized she had let her guard down too early. Outside the house, on the ridges of the fields, a zombie dog half the height of a person gazed at her with a gaping, bloody maw.

She was so scared that cold sweat broke out. Clutching the frying pan, she stood still, not daring to move.

"Gurgle..." The zombie dog made a strange noise and then sprinted towards her, its speed more than ten times faster than that of the previous zombie.

Ye Dong quickly retreated to her room, then swiftly closed the door and used all her strength to barricade it with the bed. She also pulled the curtains tight; the room darkened, and she leaned against the corner with the frying pan, staring intently at the door, sweat dripping down.

"Boom... Roar..." That was the growling sound of the zombie dog knocking things over. Ye Dong held her breath, growing even more tense.

"Thud..." The bedside lamp on the dresser fell off, and the screws between the door and its frame gradually loosened.

Ye Dong’s eyes reddened. She felt like she was about to die, her only regret being that she didn’t know how her sister was faring. Her sister, a bookish nerd, had never even passed the 800-meter test. She wondered if her sister could evade these disgusting creatures.

"Bang..." The door split in half, the bed was knocked aside, and Ye Dong once again faced the zombie dog’s grey-white eyes and its bloody, gaping mouth.

"Roar..." As if smelling something extremely delicious, the zombie dog charged at Ye Dong.

"Ah! Get away!" Ye Dong screamed, flinging the frying pan in panic. She closed her eyes, her mind in extreme tension, and just as the zombie dog’s jaws were about to tear her apart, she felt as if something burst out from within her.

The room seemed to become instantly cold, but she didn’t feel pain. Ye Dong opened her eyes in a panic, and the sight that greeted her shocked her to the core.

The zombie dog was dead, its head and body penetrated by several ice cones, and varying sizes of ice crystals had formed around her. No wonder it was so cold!

Ye Dong swallowed hard, but could it be that she had created all this ice? Had she become a Superpower User?

"Recall." Ye Dong silently uttered the word, but the ice crystals remained unmoved.

"Release!" She tried to mimic the action of releasing the ice from her body in the dangerous situation before, and as expected, an ice crystal appeared in mid-air. It was, however, much thinner than those ice cones and not as cold.

It seemed that her superpower would become much stronger when she faced danger. Did this mean that the superpower could also be gradually enhanced through her own training and control?

Ye Dong thought this hypothesis was very likely. Then, while suppressing her disgust, she did something very cruel: she took an ice cone and cracked open the zombie dog’s head. She wanted to find out if there was a Crystal Core inside its skull.

This is a bead about the size of a pearl, wrapped in a transparent, very gentle light. Ye Dong felt that even the most sparkling diamond on the market couldn’t compare to its beauty. She could feel the energy fluctuations inside, but when she tried, even an ice cone was no match for it, easily shattered. No wonder the zombie dog was so formidable; it must be the energy it emitted.

However, she also had superpowers, so did that mean something like this would grow in her head too?

Although the thought was a bit chilling, Ye Dong felt that, although she hadn’t turned into a zombie, she must have also mutated in some way, with many similarities to zombies. However, something must have taken a different turn, leading to two different outcomes.

Then, if humans could become zombies and mutants, could animals also become zombie animals and mutant animals? And what about plants, what changes would they undergo? Will they evolve as depicted on television and in novels?

Ye Dong opened the head of the human zombie who first attacked her and found that it had no Crystal Core inside. It seemed there were differences even among zombies, and perhaps they really could evolve.

So how should she go about upgrading her superpower?

One speculation after another ran through Ye Dong’s mind, but soon she chided herself for wasting time on these useless thoughts. Her most urgent task right now was to find her sister.

She didn’t know if her sister at school was in any danger. Could she have turned into a zombie?

Ye Dong didn’t dare think about it; the sisters had been relying on each other since they were young, with a deep bond between them. She absolutely couldn’t let anything happen to her sister!

"Dongdong." Just as Ye Dong was about to step outside, a familiar voice came from outside the house.

It was her sister!

Ye Dong was overjoyed inside and quickly ran out of the house.

Ye Qiu was still wearing the white coat of the laboratory. Although her hair was a bit disheveled, seeing no blood on her clothes, Ye Dong’s worried heart settled down.

"Are you alright!" Looking at the mess inside the house, Ye Qiu asked with concern, then checked herself, "Why are you so wet? Go change your clothes quickly."

It was the familiar worrisome tone, which warmed Ye Dong’s heart: "Sis, I’m fine. My clothes are wet because I can now produce ice." As she spoke about it, her big eyes sparkled, as if waiting for praise, "I must have the legendary superpower, look, sister."

A transparent ice crystal appeared in Ye Dong’s hand, Ye Qiu touched it, finding it quite cold, and then looked at the shattered zombies and zombie dog, hugging her sister with the relief of having survived the ordeal: "You’re very impressive, thank goodness you’re alright."

"And you too, which is great!" Ye Dong hugged her sister back, grinning with a smile, "Then what about you, sister? What superpower do you have?"

"It should be Space Power!" Ye Qiu conjured an apple out of thin air.

"That’s amazing!" Ye Dong was astounded, "Sis, how big is the space? Is it like in the novels where you can grow vegetables and fruits? Can people go inside it?"

"You’re thinking too much." Ye Qiu tapped her on the head, "It’s just over a dozen square meters, enough to store things, it’s not some kind of magical Immortal Treasure that recognizes its master through a drop of blood."

It’s not that Ye Qiu didn’t want to tell Ye Dong the truth, but she felt it wasn’t necessary, and she also didn’t want Dongdong to become too reliant on her space. The apocalypse had just begun, Dongdong’s mindset wasn’t mature enough, and the Spiritual Spring Space was too extraordinary for this apocalypse, which could bring endless trouble for them.
