Chapter 327: Chapter 322: Apocalypse Sisters
"Captain, time is almost up," said a soldier dressed in military uniform to the man leaning against the car door.
The man stood about one meter eighty-five tall, with sharp eyebrows and a cold gaze, appearing like an unsheathed treasure sword, valiant and extraordinary.
"Luo Yong, go inside and hurry them up. We will depart on time in ten minutes." The deep and hoarse voice rose, not only was the man handsome, even his voice was so pleasing it could impregnate someone.
"Yes, Captain."
"Mrs. Zhao, Miss Li, please hurry up. We will depart on time in ten minutes."
Hearing the soldier’s urging voice, Li Lewei frowned impatiently. She could still feel her Grandpa’s status must not be low, having a dedicated military escort even after the apocalypse. She felt displeased being hurried by a low-ranking soldier.
But she wasn’t foolish and knew that during such times, it was better to make friends rather than offend someone. Little did they know that those young ladies in the stories ended up in a bad state because they were too spoiled. She could not allow herself to end up that way.
"Thank you for waiting for us for so long. It’s because things happened so suddenly, my mom and I were a bit panicked. Please tell your Captain that we will definitely come out on time," Li Lewei said with an apologetic face.
With her refined appearance, being the distinguished daughter of the Li family, Luo Yong had often heard people say how willful and capricious Li Lewei was. He never expected that one day she would talk to him so amiably. It seems that rumors can’t always be trusted!
Luo Yong took a liking to Li Lewei and stopped urging her, helping her carry her luggage onto the vehicle instead.
Li Lewei, pushing a small suitcase, was stunned the moment she saw the man leaning against the car door; her first thought was that the astonishingly handsome male protagonist described in novels actually existed.
Li Lewei unconsciously adjusted her demeanor, striving to present her best self.
"Yiming, I’m really sorry for making you wait so long," Zhao Lihua came out and said apologetically to the man.
"No trouble at all, Auntie. It is my duty," Ying Yiming nodded reservedly, then said to his subordinate soldiers, "Get on the vehicle, let’s depart."
"Mom, he is..." Li Lewei cautiously asked, not sure if her original self knew this man or whether she was acquainted with him. But since he didn’t greet her, their relationship must be average, right?
Zhao Lihua, not noticing her daughter’s abnormality, said with some distress: "This apocalypse is really a curse, my Le Wei has been unconscious for two days and her memory is all muddled, he is your Grandpa Ying’s eldest grandson, Ying Yiming. Didn’t you used to love following him around and playing?"
Upon hearing this name, Li Lewei’s heart skipped a beat. Ying Yiming, wasn’t that the name of the male protagonist in the apocalypse novel she read before transmigrating? Wait, her name is Li Lewei, isn’t she then the pampered childhood friend of the male lead destined to die in that novel?
"Is Grandpa Ying perhaps named Ying Chang’an?" Li Lewei took a deep breath, her voice lighter as she asked.
"Yes."
Li Lewei’s heart sank, it seems she really did transmigrate into that novel, and became a minor character whose name was only mentioned a few times.
She couldn’t help but roar in her heart, why is it that other people become the main character when they transmigrate, yet I’m just a minor character? This isn’t fair!
Li Lewei’s eyes reddened, and she remained silent for a long while.
The car slowly starts moving, and as she gazes at the grievously wounded city through the window, she finally realizes there’s no going back. Her eyes harden with determination, no, she is no longer the foolish and arrogant Eldest Lady of the Li family. She is Li Lewei from the 21st century, and she will not let herself end up like that again.
Li Lewei looks ahead at the car in front of her, which carries the male lead of this world, Ying Yiming. He is one of the most formidable Superpower Users in this world and eventually even establishes the most secure and immense base on earth. As long as she clings to his coattails, she is sure to survive safely to the end.
Li Lewei strengthens her resolve, silently apologizing to the female lead of this world, Ye Dong. Ying Yiming is someone she definitely will not give up on.
"Sister, don’t get out of the car, I’ll deal with them," Ye Qiu says as her and Ye Dong’s car stops in front of a gas station with several Zombies wandering inside. Concerned for Ye Qiu’s safety, Ye Dong says this.
"I can’t always rely on you, Dongdong." Thus, Ye Qiu responds, "I must learn how to fight. While they’re still weak, I have the chance to train."
"Then stay close by me, don’t wander off." After several days of combat, Ye Dong has become adept at using her Ice power, and unevolved Zombies are not a match for her at all. Therefore, she doesn’t refuse her sister’s wish to train herself as she has the absolute strength to ensure Ye Qiu’s safety.
Ye Qiu holds a Japanese military sword in her hand, which they took from a collector yesterday. If he hadn’t been lecherous, perhaps he wouldn’t have died so miserably.
Even without any superpower, but having drunk Spiritual Spring Water and bathed in medicinal baths, Ye Qiu’s physical fitness is still stronger than that of ordinary people. Coupled with her skill in finding Zombie’s weak points, even without Ye Dong’s assistance, she manages to kill two Zombies in short order.
"Awesome!" Ye Dong gives her sister a thumbs up.
Ye Qiu cracks a smile, then suddenly stares intently in a direction and speaks in a deep voice, "Someone’s coming."
Even though she hasn’t sensed it herself, Ye Dong doesn’t doubt her sister at all. She attributes this Skill to her sister’s intelligence which has always been superior to her own since they were children. Haven’t the news reports said so? People with a sharp mind also have strong spiritual power. The reason her sister always discovers things first is that her sister is amazing.
"Should we hide?"
"No time for that, get in the car, there are Zombie Rats," Ye Qiu says gravely.
"Damn it," mutters Ye Dong, not daring to delay.
Although Zombie Rats are not high-level, they generally appear in swarms. Once they set their targets, it’s a fight to the death. The last time she and her sister encountered them, they might have lost their lives had not her sister come up with a desperate plan on the spot.
"Help, save us," the people being chased by the Zombie Rats cry out.
Ye Qiu and Ye Dong do not respond and quickly start the car.
"Stop, stop the car!" yells the man at the front, holding a three or four-year-old child in his arms. The child is not crying or making a fuss, yet the man’s eyes are red.
At this moment, looking at the man and child in the rearview mirror, both Ye Qiu and Ye Dong can’t help but feel compassion. The apocalypse is merciless, but they find themselves incapable of being indifferent.
Ye Qiu’s car slows down, but the man doesn’t get on. Instead, he tosses the child onto the car, casting an apologetic look at the Ye sisters. He offers one last longing look at the child, then resolutely turns around, his weapon aimed at the few people behind him.
"Duan Ping, have you lost your mind?"
Before leaving, the only thing Ye Qiu hears the man who was hit saying is this sentence. No one follows them afterward, and even the Zombie Rats are largely killed or wounded in an explosion and no longer pose a threat to Ye Qiu and the others.
