Chapter 479: Chapter 468: Fierce Ghost
Master Hui Guang was riding in Mr. Chu’s car when they passed by Green Lake. He stared at the lake with a sharp gaze. Mr. Chu slowed the car and asked, "Master, is there something wrong with this lake?"
"Oh, it’s nothing." Master Hui Guang withdrew his gaze and decided not to share what he had seen; it was just a little ghost that hadn’t done any evil. Why bother making an issue out of it?
Miss Song had just had a miscarriage and was still very weak, but she insisted on coming out to welcome Master Hui Guang. As long as Ye Qiu had not been dealt with, she could not be at peace.
"Boss, Mr. Chu and Miss Song have invited another master from the Ci Yun Temple to their home. I checked, and this master is quite influential online," the police officer monitoring Mr. Chu and Miss Song reported to Captain Ling.
"Don’t act rashly, I’m on my way over," Captain Ling hung up the phone, feeling that something was fishy. What exactly had Mr. Chu and his group encountered? Why was it always a divine woman or a master?
Could it be... had Ye Qiu really turned into a ghost seeking vengeance? But was that even possible?
"Master, how is it?" Miss Song asked anxiously.
Master Hui Guang walked around the villa and then shook his head: "Amitabha Buddha, benefactors, there is currently nothing unclean in this house."
"Has that ghost died then?" Mr. Chu followed up.
"Not yet."
"Then what should we do? Should we lure it out like Divine Woman Liu did?"
"This monk does not summon ghosts, only liberates them."
"So if she never appears, are we helpless? Master, you can’t always stay with us. What if she comes seeking revenge one day?" Miss Song spoke with anger in her voice, seemingly disappointed in Master Hui Guang’s capabilities.
"As the saying goes, ’If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve got nothing to fear from a ghost knocking at your door.’ Why should you be so afraid?"
Miss Song was taken aback by Master Hui Guang’s words, then said, "Once someone becomes a ghost, can you still expect them to be human? Fierce ghosts won’t reason with you."
"Benefactor, there’s no need to get so agitated. While it’s said that every deed has its consequence, the mortal world has its laws, and the underworld has its regulations. As a ghost, it indeed should not harm people in the mortal world, and I will do my utmost to prevent it," Master Hui Guang explained.
Miss Song always felt that the monk was insinuating something, but with no one else to turn to, they had to depend on him. Thus, she reluctantly said, "I hope you can keep your word."
"Knock knock, Mr. Chu, Miss Song, we meet again," Captain Ling said as he entered with his subordinates.
"What are you doing here again?" Mr. Chu asked, his tone tinged with annoyance and fear.
Captain Ling accurately captured his emotion and then wondered internally, what exactly was Mr. Chu afraid of?
"We’re here to deal with matters related to the case, after all, the death occurred at your place, and we have the right to come and inspect at any time. This is the search warrant." Captain Ling was thorough in his actions, leaving no room for Mr. Chu to find fault.
Miss Song’s expression turned cold, but mindful that Master Hui Guang was still there, she didn’t speak too harshly: "Captain Ling, even if our home is the scene of a death, you can’t just keep coming indefinitely, right? It severely affects our lives."
"Of course, we won’t disrupt your lives indefinitely. Rest assured, once we’ve collected enough evidence and found the perpetrator, we’ll withdraw," Captain Ling said with a smile, then proceeded to conduct the search as per the rules.
"So this is Master Hui Guang from Ci Yun Temple? I’ve long heard of your great reputation," Captain Ling said as he looked at the master.
Master Hui Guang pressed his palms together and chanted, "Amitabha Buddha."
"I wonder what brings Master Hui Guang here today?" he asked, staring intently.
Chu Cheng and Song Jin tensed up, and before Master Hui Guang could answer, Song Jin hurriedly said, "It’s just that someone died in the house and it brought bad luck, we invited the master to perform a ritual."
"Is that so?" Ling Xiao asked skeptically.
Master Hui Guang did not respond. Song Jin continued, "I heard from Chu Cheng that Xiao Ran is currently with Captain Ling. Captain Ling, according to the rules, we should be able to take Xiao Ran back now, right?"
The more she changed the subject, the more Ling Xiao felt something was amiss. However, Xiao Ran was now his weakness. If Chu Cheng and Song Jin insisted, he really couldn’t keep Xiao Ran with him any longer.
Seeing Ling Xiao’s face turn sour, Song Jin proudly raised her chin: "Captain Ling, how about this, to save you the trouble, I will just have Chu Cheng follow you to pick up Xiao Ran later."
Ling Xiao narrowed his eyes, his tone somewhat cold: "You are suspected of child abuse, I’ve already discussed this with Chu Cheng, and we’ll decide on Xiao Ran’s custody after the community coordination."
Song Jin was not intimidated: "If that’s the case, then I can only hire a lawyer. Captain Ling, do you think you’ll get to see Xiao Ran after this?"
"You..." Ling Xiao clenched his fists, "Song Jin, don’t go too far. The villa you are living in now was bought with Ye Qiu’s death compensation, right? Do you feel at peace living here? Aren’t you afraid that Ye Qiu’s restless spirit might come for revenge after his death?"
These words hit their sore spot, making Chu Cheng and Song Jin’s expressions even more uneasy. Song Jin gritted her teeth: "Captain Ling, you are still a public servant of the state, do you also believe in such superstitions?"
"It’s not about superstition, I just believe in justice and that conscience guides humanity. Some people who aren’t afraid of being struck by lightning should not commit such conscienceless acts."
"Captain Ling, you need not worry about us."
"Amitabha Buddha." Having heard all this, Master Hui Guang sighed, seemingly warning Chu Cheng and Song Jin with a glance.
They could deceive Ling Xiao, but they could not deceive Master Hui Guang. At that, Song Jin immediately shut her mouth.
Ling Xiao felt even more suspicious. Now, he would rather believe that ghosts exist in this world; at least if Ye Qiu turned into a ghost, there might still be hope for Xiao Ran.
Ling Xiao’s team conducted a routine inspection around the villa, but the delay was bound by time limits, and he had to leave with his doubts.
Finally relieved of the bothersome visitor, Chu Cheng and Song Jin relaxed and then asked Master Hui Guang: "Master, since those two ghosts haven’t appeared, what should we do?"
"I will perform a ritual at your residence to dispel the Ghost Energy, and place a Buddha statue outside the door. If any ghost appears, I will come myself."
"Ci Yun Temple is not close to here, if an evil ghost arrives, will the master be able to come quickly? What if we are harmed by the evil ghost?"
"You need not worry, both the Buddha statue and the talisman I have given you can withstand for a while."
Song Jin was still not reassured, continuing to press: "But even with your amulet last time, my child was still lost."
It was precisely because of the loss of that child that Master Hui Guang felt so guilty, which led him to come out of retirement. He sighed and took off the Buddha Beads from his hand: "Take these, benefactors, and you will certainly be safe."
Song Jin did not refuse, slightly reassured: "I hope the master’s actions will be timely as you said."
"Amitabha Buddha!"
