Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Another Toast
"Oh my, you wouldn’t actually want to seduce me, would you? Let me tell you, I’m absolutely immune to temptation; I’ve been around the block," Shen Yan said, feeling a bit uneasy. Resisting temptation was one thing for older men, but against a handsome and somewhat rugged guy like Chen Tianlong, she had little defense.
Just in a blink, Chen Tianlong was beside her, smiling and raising his glass: "Come, let’s have another drink."
"Oh, can’t you sit across from me, Chen Tianlong? You just have to squeeze next to me, itching to take advantage?" Shen Yan, having spent some time with Chen Tianlong, spoke more freely now, especially after the forceful kiss he had given her today, leaving her somewhat caught between apprehension and thrill.
Now with Chen Tianlong beside her, she felt inexplicably excited.
The sensation was so subtle that Shen Yan couldn’t bear to evade it, nor did she want to spoil it; seeing Chen Tianlong’s lips about to touch the base of her ear, suddenly a voice rang out: "Yan, someone’s eavesdropping outside. Also, there’s something off about the fish, don’t ask me why, just keep quiet."
"Ah~"
Shen Yan was startled by Chen Tianlong’s words, immediately she covered her mouth, then leaned in close to Chen Tianlong’s ear, whispering, "Are you sure there’s something wrong? Who’s outside actually?"
The hot breath Shen Yan blew while speaking brushed against his ear as Chen Tianlong became somewhat excited; the feeling was indeed subtle.
"I don’t know either, but they’ve likely been watching us for quite a while. Later, you need to follow my lead: put the fish under the table, then bring the plate up, pretending it’s already been finished. If my guess is correct, someone will purposefully push the door open shortly..."
"You mean the person who pushed the door earlier?" Listening to Chen Tianlong’s explanation, Shen Yan recalled what had happened before, immediately finding it full of loopholes.
This was a group; it was impossible for everyone to mistakenly remember the room number, and no one else looked surprised.
"Smart, remember to do as I say later." Chen Tianlong said and was about to leave, but looking at Shen Yan’s smooth skin and alluring lips, he couldn’t help but tease.
"Hold on!" Chen Tianlong said casually.
"Hmm? Anything else?" Shen Yan paused, hurriedly leaned forward, and whispered.
"Don’t move, there’s something on your lips."
Before Shen Yan could react, Chen Tianlong pecked her lips, "Mmm, a shrimp tidbit, such a waste."
"You... shameless!"
Shen Yan was about to explode with anger; if she could scream, she’d definitely go berserk.
"Shh, don’t speak!" Chen Tianlong acted seriously, then retreated to his original seat.
"..." Shen Yan was speechless, wiped her mouth corner, glared at Chen Tianlong, and then moved the fish from the table to under it, dumping it into the trash bin.
Chen Tianlong had said this fish was tampered with, it certainly couldn’t be eaten, no matter what was added, Shen Yan found it nauseating.
After doing that, Chen Tianlong suddenly shouted, "Come, darling, have a piece of fish!"
Shen Yan was taken aback but quickly realized it; however, Chen Tianlong’s "darling" made her heart race—it was such an ambiguous word, sending tingles all over her body.
"Thank you!" Evidently, Shen Yan started to play along, and they began to act: "Wow, this is delicious!"
"Pfft~"
Chen Tianlong couldn’t help but laugh, but quickly stifled it.
Shen Yan glared at Chen Tianlong again, this guy was making her act and then secretly laughing—what’s the deal?
About five minutes later, the door was suddenly pushed open with a bang. As expected, someone walked in from outside and looked at the pair inside, feigning surprise.
Actually, this surprise was deliberate, with Bao observing the situation on the table. Seeing the plate already empty,
he didn’t give it much thought and hurriedly said, "Damn, went out the door again—you say my brain..."
"All right, all right, hurry and leave, don’t spoil my appetite." Chen Tianlong waved impatiently, signaling Bao to leave.
Bao quickly gave an "OK" gesture, then closed the door, returning to their room.
Two minutes later, four people emerged from the room, each holding a military dagger, commonly used by the Earth Dragon Organization for missions.
"Tian, are we really going to take out Chen Tianlong later? What about the woman?" Bao was somewhat moved by Shen Yan’s looks and couldn’t help but feel it’d be wasteful to kill her.
"You think at such a critical moment, don’t say I didn’t warn you. If trouble arises because of that woman, handle it yourself!" Tian Ji sighed, clearly hearing from Bao’s words that he was interested in the woman.
"Got it, Tian." Bao gritted his teeth, gripping his dagger tighter.
Four persons went to stand guard at the stairs while the other three approached the door, slowly pushing inside. Bao swiftly entered the booth, with Tian Ji following closely.
But once inside, it was completely empty!
"Bao, what happened?" Tian Ji frowned; he and Bao were cautious in their work, collaborating for years without failure, yet now they’d been discovered.
"Tian... Tian, honestly, I saw the fish was finished on their plate, and I kept quiet outside, they couldn’t have found anything unusual!" Bao was dumbfounded, in just those couple of minutes—how did they escape?
Tian Ji looked around at the table, his gaze landing on the plate with the grilled fish, swearing angrily: "You damn fool, eating fish and even the sauce—Bao, when did you become so brainless, damn it!"
Tian Ji was really furious; as they say, it’s not a god-like opponent one fears, but a pig-like teammate.
"Get out, they could still be nearby." Tian Ji calmed down and led his men downstairs.
Chen Tianlong drove Shen Yan around the square, eventually circling back to the barbecue fish shop.
By now, Tian Ji and his crew had seemingly left, probably in pursuit, while Mrs. Huang, seeing Shen Yan and Chen Tianlong hastily leaving without even settling the bill, realized something was amiss. Now seeing them return, she approached curiously: "Xiaoyan, what happened just now? Should I call the police?"
