Chapter 193: Chapter 0193: Liu Ruomei’s Bizarre Scheme_1
Master Xu unwillingly took out 3,000 yuan and handed it to Zhang Bin.
Zhang Bin patted the money and said with a wicked laugh, "Looks like I won’t have to pay for my hotel room tonight. It’s on Master Xu. Thanks a lot."
Tears immediately streamed down Master Xu’s face. So this bastard was just trying to win money for a hotel room? And I became the sucker who paid for it?
He howled in fury, yelling at Zhang Bin, who was already getting up to leave, "Do you dare play three games against my son?"
"Is your son that good at chess?" Zhang Bin asked in astonishment.
"Young man, don’t tell me you don’t even know Xu Yin, last year’s national individual chess champion! That’s Master Xu’s son," an older man sputtered angrily.
"So he’s the number one chess master today," Zhang Bin said. "In that case, I won’t play him."
With that, he walked away briskly, calling back from a distance, "Because I’m afraid he’ll lose so badly he’ll be too ashamed to show his face."
"You..." Master Xu was so angry he nearly vomited blood.
The crowd of onlookers fumed, wishing they could chase Zhang Bin down and give him a good beating for being so arrogant and brazen.
Liu Ruomei, walking beside Zhang Bin, let out a tinkling, bell-like laugh for the first time. Clearly, his words had amused her. Her laughter was like a hundred flowers blooming at once, breathtakingly beautiful.
Zhang Bin was almost mesmerized. He longed to pull her into his arms and hold her close. But he knew he had only managed to leave a slightly better impression on her; winning her heart was still a world away. So, the time wasn’t even right to hold her hand.
"Shall we go sit in the park again?" Zhang Bin asked softly.
Liu Ruomei checked her phone. "It’s already ten o’clock, so it’s getting late," she said. "I’ll walk you to your hotel. Tomorrow, I can take you around to see the beautiful sights of Qingshan County. You can head back the day after that."
"Okay," Zhang Bin agreed.
On the way, Liu Ruomei asked curiously, "Chen Junheng, why did you deliberately lose one game to him earlier?"
Could I tell her it’s because I genuinely couldn’t beat him? he grumbled inwardly. Aloud, he said, "Wasn’t I trying to give you a surprise?"
"That’s a pretty strange surprise," Liu Ruomei said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
The two of them strolled slowly, chatting leisurely. The evening breeze carried Liu Ruomei’s faint, intoxicating scent, and taking a deep breath of it was mesmerizing. They weren’t walking close together, keeping a distance of at least two feet between them.
He lamented internally. If he were here as Zhang Bin, she would surely be holding his arm intimately. Why would she be keeping such a distance? But with this identity, even touching her was a challenge. Was his method of saving her wrong? His confidence was starting to waver.
"You should still be in school, right?" Liu Ruomei asked tentatively.
"I left school a long time ago. I’m self-taught," Zhang Bin said. "I’ve decided to look for a job in Qingshan County to be closer to you. It’s just to give you time to get to know me. It doesn’t mean I have to be your boyfriend. I never force women."
"Isn’t that too much trouble for you? Won’t it hinder your career? You should really think it over," Liu Ruomei said. "Don’t make a huge sacrifice on a whim. you might end up with nothing."
"For someone like me, it makes no difference where I work. Whether I look for a job or start my own company, nothing is too difficult," Zhang Bin said. "I think Qingshan County is pretty nice. The scenery is beautiful, and with the Divine Doctor Zhang Bin around, you don’t have to fear terminal illnesses."
"What about your parents? Can you just leave them to come work here? You should calm down and think about it for a few days before you decide," Liu Ruomei said, her tone still one of rejection. It was clear she couldn’t accept this unfamiliar young man.
"That’s fine. I’ll consider it further," Zhang Bin said with a smile.
As far as he knew, her speaking to him like this was already a good sign. When it came to Bo Chengye, she had rejected him outright from the very beginning. So, he still had a chance to save this troublesome little sister-in-law—at least a better chance than Bo Chengye had.
Soon, they arrived at a hotel entrance. Liu Ruomei said, "I won’t go in with you. I’ll pick you up here at nine tomorrow morning..."
"Okay," Zhang Bin agreed with a mischievous chuckle.
After Liu Ruomei left, he didn’t enter the hotel. Instead, he returned to East Lake Residence and drove his own car back to Sanchahe Village.
He had thought about going upstairs to get flirty with Tian Bingbing, but he learned through Tutu that she hadn’t come home tonight. Instead, she was in the quiet room of the martial arts hall, diligently cultivating to break through to her second meridian.
That night, he naturally spent a wonderful time alone with Xiao Fang. In his sleep, however, he entered the Virtual World to study painting and analyze alien data.
But Liu Ruomei was not as calm as Zhang Bin. As soon as she got home, she went into Liu Ruolan’s room. Liu Ruolan had already bathed and was lying on the bed reading.
Liu Ruomei jumped onto the bed and nestled up to her sister, saying coquettishly, "Sister, I’ll sleep with you tonight."
"Why are you back so late? Don’t tell me you actually went on a date?" Liu Ruolan chided.
"Sister, you’re not right, but you’re not far off. I really did meet a young man. He’s the Hacker Rabbit King, his name is Chen Junheng, and he’s only twenty this year..."
Liu Ruomei recounted the entire meeting from start to finish, concluding with, "Sister, what do you think of this Rabbit King?"
Liu Ruolan was already staring agape, looking at Liu Ruomei as if she were a monster. "The Rabbit King is way too bold, isn’t he? To actually reveal himself to you, a police officer? He must be blinded by infatuation... Still, he must be incredibly intelligent, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to beat Master Xu at chess. But I still suggest you be cautious in your dealings with him. It all feels too unreliable."
"Are you saying his identity is too sensitive?" Liu Ruomei said. "Actually, the government doesn’t want to go after him. They want to recruit him, and they’ll give him the best possible treatment. So, even if his identity is exposed, it shouldn’t be a big deal."
"And you call yourself a cop? How can you be so naive?" Liu Ruolan retorted. "A top hacker like the Rabbit King must have done many earth-shattering things. He could even be an international fugitive wanted by Interpol. There’s bound to be a lot of trouble, and a single misstep could put you in danger."
"I’m not going to be his girlfriend, so how could I be implicated?" Liu Ruomei said. "My idea is to have your husband recruit him to work as his subordinate. With such a capable assistant, perhaps your husband could achieve even greater things..."
If Zhang Bin had heard this, his confidence would have hit rock bottom and he would have been moved to tears. Fortunately, he hadn’t set Tutu to monitor them, so he remained blissfully unaware.
