Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Demon Mark
"Kevin, Kevin!"
Holding his unconscious girlfriend, Geralt called out anxiously.
Kevin, lying in his arms, looked pale, completely devoid of blood color. If not for the faint signs of breath, anyone would think she was already dead.
Under Geralt’s rescue, Kevin slowly opened her eyes. Upon seeing Geralt, she couldn’t hide her surprise and weakly said, "Geralt, it’s so good, I never thought I’d see you again."
Being tempted by demons was something Kevin, as an ordinary human, couldn’t resist, which led to her mysterious disappearance, bringing her to this mountain church, as her heart had long been coveted by Andros as the final piece for resurrection.
"I will never let you leave again, I swear." Geralt tearfully hugged his girlfriend tightly, with a tone full of post-crisis joy.
Being alive and having saved Kevin, for him, this was the best ending.
Sun Yan and Sosia walked over, looking at this happy couple, Sun Yan promptly offered heartfelt congratulations: "Congratulations."
"Without your help, I couldn’t have defeated Andros on my own. Thank you both for your assistance. If there’s anything you need, as long as I can do it, I’ll help." Geralt sincerely bowed in gratitude.
If he hadn’t defeated Andros, he couldn’t have saved Kevin. In theory, Sun Yan and Sosia were his benefactors.
"We don’t have any demands, but if I had to say, I really like this shotgun. Why not sell it to me? I’m very satisfied with its power, and equipping it with my companions would be a great help."
Sun Yan pointed at the Demon Exorcism Shotgun in Sosia’s hand.
The era has changed, even exorcism weapons must advance or be eliminated by the times.
Exorcism used to be done with swords and magic staffs; now, it’s shotguns and Gatling guns. Can you handle that?
Exorcists who don’t keep up with the times will be eliminated, so Sun Yan plans to equip Sosia with a weapon to strengthen her exorcism abilities.
"No problem, if you like it, I’ll give it to you as a gift." Geralt readily agreed.
However, at this moment, his eyes suddenly widened in disbelief, staring at Sun Yan’s arm. A black crow head pattern had appeared on the inside of Sun Yan’s forearm without him knowing when.
"Damn Andros, it marked you with a Demon Mark before dying!" Geralt said angrily.
Sun Yan raised his arm, and if not for Geralt’s reminder, he really wouldn’t have noticed this thing, so he asked in confusion: "What is a Demon Mark?"
"High-level demons often use their souls to leave a special mark on those who kill them before dying. This mark constantly attracts demons until it takes your life, meaning you’ll live in constant danger from now on, facing demon attacks at any time."
Geralt’s expression was very serious: "Only archbishops have the ability to remove Demon Marks. After this, I’ll take you to Europe, where a known archbishop can help you."
After hearing Geralt’s explanation, Sun Yan felt relieved.
This Demon Mark attracting demons is similar to how Eastern people born on certain dates are prone to evil encounters.
Is that all? He thought it was a bigger issue, but once he returns to the Graveyard, he can have True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao assist him.
If Western archbishops can solve the problem, then for True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao, it’s no big deal.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
Loud barking came from outside the hall doors. Due to the previous crisis, Sun Yan had been completely focused on dealing with Andros, only now realizing Dahuang had disappeared at some point.
The hall doors were pushed open from the outside, with Dahuang happily jumping and running in, its tongue lolling. Following it were several faint souls.
Sun Yan glanced and saw that it was Lisa and several young men and women of her age.
The expressions of these souls were very vacant, like walking dead, only knowing to follow Dahuang forward.
"Indeed, although Lisa and the others escaped this church back then, parts of their souls were trapped here, unable to leave. That’s why they lost memory after returning from the mountain." Sun Yan looked at these souls thoughtfully.
When people are greatly frightened, their souls can leave their bodies, and if not fully returned in a short time, parts can float outside.
Such occurrences were common in Eastern ancient countryside.
To Sun Yan’s surprise, Dahuang the Dog King had the ability to guide souls; otherwise, it couldn’t have brought these souls here.
For Sun Yan, Dahuang’s special ability is extremely important.
"As long as I bring these lost souls back to Yellow Rock Town, I can successfully complete my task. What a relief."
Sun Yan strode toward Betty and Nira, who were hiding in the corner, and gently said to the two little girls, "Betty, you’ve been out for so long, your mom and dad really miss you. It’s time to go home."
Betty tightly held Nira’s hand and asked seriously, "Can I go home with Nira?"
Sun Yan looked peacefully at Nira; it was she who painted and made those dolls at the Curry Family.
Whether it was her paintings or her dolls, they all corresponded one-to-one with the situation inside the church. Her actions seemed to be a plea for help to the outside world. Clearly, this little girl’s background was by no means ordinary.
And looking at her clothing, the style clearly doesn’t match this era.
"Who exactly are you, and how do you know so much?" Sun Yan asked curiously.
"Betty, you should go home. That’s where you belong." Nira reached out to stroke Betty’s cheek, affectionately speaking like an elder sister.
Betty tilted her head in bewilderment, asking, "Won’t you come with me?"
"I only belong here; here is where I should stay."
Nira released Betty’s hand, stood up, and resolutely walked toward the corner of the hall. Her figure grew fainter and gradually disappeared from Sun Yan’s sight.
"According to the information I’ve gathered, Count Joseph had a daughter, but to summon a demon, he sacrificed his daughter’s body to the demon as an offering. Could it be that this little girl is..." Kevin, nestled in Geralt’s arms, whispered as he watched Nira disappear quietly.
Geralt looked at this hall filled with sin with complex emotions: "It’s all over. We should go back."
The group rose to leave; Dahuang’s eyes lit up as he watched the pile of Andros’ bones that had turned into charcoal. He secretly ran forward and grabbed a piece in his mouth, then chased after Sun Yan.
The first rays of morning sunlight rose from beyond the mountain.
Sun Yan and the group successively walked out of the church doors. Having successfully destroyed Andros, they could now leave this place peacefully. This church would be abandoned forever.
Geralt supported his girlfriend, suddenly turning back to look at the soul lingering behind the door that hadn’t come out, and asked, "Priest, won’t you really come with us?"
The priest shamefully shook his head: "My body has already fallen; my soul has also questioned my faith in God due to the strength of the demon. Now, I only want to stay here to atone for my sins. Please help me bring the news of Andros being destroyed back to the church; I’m relying on you."
Seeing the priest’s determined resolve, Geralt could no longer insist. For the priest, who was left with only a soul, perhaps this was the best end.
With Betty and Lisa’s souls in tow, Sun Yan successfully returned to Yellow Rock Town by retracing their steps, delivering Lisa’s missing soul and Betty’s soul back to their respective residences.
At the Curry Family doorstep.
"I’m really thankful for your help this time, Jackson, Sosia. Without you, I can’t imagine how devastated I would have been if I lost Kevin."
Geralt handed Sun Yan a business card: "This is my contact information. If you encounter any trouble in the future and need help, call me. I’ll come to help you immediately."
’Exorcist Association’
’Member: Geralt Rain’
Looking at the title on the business card, Sun Yan realized Geralt wasn’t just a lone ranger; he had a mysterious organization behind him.
Sun Yan put away the business card and nodded: "Definitely."
After a brief farewell, Geralt left with Kevin.
Sosia relaxed her tense nerves, couldn’t help but stretch lazily, revealing her slender and smooth abdomen.
As a woman who regularly exercises, even without transforming into a werewolf, Sosia’s figure is undeniably stunning.
Blonde hair, long legs, slender waist, large bust; the perfect image of a mature beauty.
"Where do we go now?" Sosia asked wearily.
Sun Yan twirled the car keys around his fingers as he walked briskly toward his beloved car: "Of course, we go home."
After receiving the reward for this quest, he was eager to find out what use the Earth Shrine had. Risking everything to destroy Andros was indeed for this prize.
"Woof Woof!" Dahuang wagged his tail, joyfully tagging along, trotting after Sun Yan.
