Chapter 97 Zhao Min's Request

"Is the person this country bumpkin cherishes the one and only Gu Qinghan?"

Seeing how Shen Lang changed when facing Gu Qinghan, and Gu Qinghan even kissed him on the face, Wang Yuyan frowned, displeased.

Zhao Min and Lin Danqing, standing nearby, were both stunned. They never expected Shen Lang to not only be so skilled in combat but also to have such a close relationship with Gu Qinghan.

Recalling her earlier dissatisfaction with Shen Lang, Zhao Min blushed, feeling quite embarrassed.

Yu Xiao and Yu Fei, witnessing this, showed little emotional fluctuation.

Especially Yu Xiao, no one knew better than her what kind of person she liked.

Shen Lang was an exceptionally outstanding man, and such a person would always attract many women, both now and in the future.

If Yu Xiao were to dwell on this, become hysterical, nitpick, and throw a tantrum at Shen Lang, it would not bring her closer to him. Instead, it would drive him further away.

Yu Xiao was clear-headed. To avoid jealousy and inferiority, she had to become more outstanding herself, to the point where she was worthy of Shen Lang.

It wasn't just Yu Xiao who thought this way; Yu Fei, standing beside her, felt the same.

In that instant, the two sisters had the same realization.

"Little brother, be at the Military Security Department at nine tomorrow morning. We'll escort Nalan Wushuang and Tang Zixuan to Nanshan Execution Ground from there at half-past nine," Gu Qinghan said, her red lips just pulling away from Shen Lang's cheek, a blush spreading across her face.

"Sister, don't worry, I'll be there on time," Shen Lang replied, a little shy and embarrassed by Gu Qinghan's bold advances.

"Alright, it's a deal." Gu Qinghan looked at Shen Lang and smiled, "I'll head back to the Military Security Department to handle Tang Chunqiu and the others' affairs. See you tomorrow."

"Sister, have a safe trip—" Shen Lang watched Gu Qinghan, smiling gently.

Soon, Gu Qinghan walked downstairs and drove back to the Military Security Department.

After Gu Qinghan left, Lin Danqing approached Shen Lang, saying with great gratitude, "Mr. Shen, I'm truly grateful for your help today. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Thank you."

"You're too kind. I should be thanking you," Shen Lang said, looking at Lin Danqing with deep respect. "If you hadn't protected Yu Xiao, I don't know what harm Mrs. Tang and the others would have inflicted on her. I won't forget this favor."

"If I'm not mistaken, Old Lin suffers from severe coronary heart disease. Although you've been taking medication, the effects don't seem to be very significant," Shen Lang continued, "When this illness strikes, it can be life-threatening, and immediate treatment is crucial."

He then took out a yellow glazed bottle and handed it to Lin Danqing, saying, "This bottle contains heart-protecting pills that I refined myself. There aren't many, only five. Take one every week, and after finishing them, your coronary heart disease will be cured."

"What?" Lin Danqing's expression shifted to one of shock and disbelief. "Mr. Shen, are you telling the truth?"

Lin Danqing was already over seventy years old and had retired. However, being the best Chinese language teacher in Nanling City, he was rehired after retirement and even became a vice-principal. But the school had too many matters, and coupled with his age, he was diagnosed with coronary heart disease during a physical examination six months ago. Despite taking medication, the effects were poor, and Lin Danqing often felt chest tightness and dizziness, even nearly collapsing on the roadside a few times. To hear Shen Lang, with just a glance, diagnose his condition and claim to cure it, Lin Danqing couldn't help but be astonished.

"Of course. Patients are like parents to me; I wouldn't joke about a patient's health." Shen Lang placed the yellow glazed bottle into Lin Danqing's hand. "The medicine is given to you. You can choose to take it or not; the decision is yours."

"Mr. Shen, you jest. You are Director Gu of the Military Security Department's younger brother; how could I possibly doubt your words? I am merely shocked and can't believe that Mr. Shen, at such a young age, understands medicine and can even refine medicine." Lin Danqing continued, "I have heard that doctors who can refine medicine have at least fifty years of traditional Chinese medicine practice. I never expected Mr. Shen, so young, to also understand medicine refining. It truly seems that there are always talented people emerging, and the revival of Chinese medicine is promising."

He then took out a pill and asked Shen Lang, "Mr. Shen, I'm currently feeling chest tightness and shortness of breath, very uncomfortable. Can I take it now?"

"Of course—" Shen Lang nodded.

Upon receiving Shen Lang's confirmation, Lin Danqing directly put the pill into his mouth. The pill had a light fragrance and dissolved instantly. Soon, Lin Danqing felt a surge of energy in his heart, which opened up his previously constricted chest. Suddenly, the tightness in his chest vanished, replaced by indescribable lightness and comfort. Even his mind felt clearer.

"Mr. Shen, your medicine is truly miraculous. After taking just one pill, I feel more than half healed." Lin Danqing had taken many medicines and could tell which ones were effective and which weren't upon consumption. Looking at Shen Lang with a mixture of shock and joy, he said, "Thank you, Mr. Shen."

"Old Lin, there's no need for politeness. This is just a small token of my gratitude," Shen Lang smiled at Lin Danqing. "Take it regularly, and after finishing all the pills, you will be completely healed."

"Thank you—" Lin Danqing looked at Shen Lang, unsure how to express his immense gratitude.

Shen Lang smiled, then turned to Zhao Min. "Teacher Zhao, your health is very good, and there's nothing I can help with at the moment. If you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask."

"Mr. Shen, I never imagined you'd also understand medicine, let alone be so skilled. It's truly astonishing," Zhao Min said, also amazed that Shen Lang's simple bottle of pills could treat Professor Lin's coronary heart disease. She continued, "My health is indeed fine, but I'd like to ask if Mr. Shen would be willing to treat a patient for me." She added, "Rest assured, I won't shortchange Mr. Shen in terms of compensation."

Shen Lang chuckled. "As I said earlier, Teacher Zhao, if you need help, just ask. There's no need to mention compensation. May I ask who you'd like me to treat, and what is their ailment?"

"She is my elder sister. I don't know what her illness is, but ever since she went to Sichuan three years ago, she has been in a deep sleep and hasn't woken up," Zhao Min said, sighing. "For the past three years, our family has consulted many doctors and visited numerous hospitals, but none could diagnose her condition." She looked at Shen Lang, "If Mr. Shen can help with this, both I and my family will be eternally grateful to you."

"I see..." Shen Lang said after hearing Zhao Min's words. "Then, Teacher Zhao, please arrange a time, and I'll visit your home with you. However, I can't guarantee a cure."

Zhao Min replied, "My sister is gravely ill, and while our family is worried, after three years, we've almost lost hope. Mr. Shen, please don't feel any pressure. If you can cure her, do so; if not, don't force it."

"Let's do our best and leave the rest to fate."
