Chapter 20: Going to Work Together

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Going to Work Together

Serena Yeats walked slowly to the dining table and sat down.

Nanny Livingston brought over breakfast.

"Young Madam, this is lean pork congee and eggs. Did you sleep well last night?"

Upon hearing "last night," Serena’s face turned red, and she instinctively glanced at Elias Lancaster.

"Master Lancaster said you like strawberry cake, so today’s dessert includes it, along with other snacks."

Listening to this made Serena’s mouth water.

"Thank you, Nanny Livingston."

Nanny Livingston smiled, "As long as Young Madam enjoys the food..."

"Nanny Livingston, please sit down and have breakfast too."

Elias Lancaster interrupted Nanny Livingston.

"Alright, alright, you two eat first, I still have things to attend to."

Serena watched as Nanny Livingston left, blinking and then looking at Elias.

"Eat quickly, or it’ll get cold."

After breakfast, Elias Lancaster left the house.

But within two minutes, he returned.

Yesterday he brought Serena to work, and seeing the little girl there when tired felt wonderful.

As soon as he got into the car, he decided he would take her to work again, so he came back.

And just like that, Elias took Serena out with him.

Elias Lancaster was holding a bag in one hand and holding Serena’s hand with the other as they walked into the company’s lobby.

The people in the company lobby were stunned, their mouths agape at the sight of the two.

"Am I seeing things? Is it really President Lancaster?"

Elias Lancaster took a hat out of his bag and put it on Serena, covering her face.

"President Lancaster actually came holding hands with a woman?"

"Who is that girl?"

"Is President Lancaster in a relationship? Oh my gosh, this is big news!"

"The Living Yama actually has a woman?"

A few bold employees secretly picked up their phones and snapped a few photos of them.

Serena heard everything they were saying and couldn’t help but look at Elias Lancaster, who was earnestly taking her towards the elevator.

She reached out and tugged at his sleeve.

A sound of a sharp intake of breath came from beside them.

"That girl is so young and cute!"

"Look at President Lancaster’s expression, so gentle!"

"That’s favored treatment for sure!"

Elias Lancaster bent down, leaned closer to Serena.

Serena, a bit nervous, glanced around and whispered, "I think someone is taking our pictures, let’s walk faster to your office."

Elias Lancaster smiled, reached out to pat her head.

"Alright!"

Little did they know, this gesture sparked a hot discussion.

"Oh my! Is this still our President Lancaster? He’s smiling?"

"Why do I feel like that smile is terrifying?"

"President Lancaster’s head pat..."

"Got fed some relationship goals early in the morning."

"Am I the only one who noticed that the Living Yama is late? This is unprecedented."

Elias Lancaster led Serena to the office, settled her on the sofa with a tablet, and went to a meeting.

The news of the Crown Prince of Aethelgard, the famous ascetic Master Lancaster, coming to work hand-in-hand with a woman spread through The Lancaster Corporation’s building within an hour.

Even the cleaning lady knew about it.

Serena had no idea she was the center of attention across the company. She was sitting on the sofa, eating a small cake, watching something on the tablet.

A bit of cake got on the corner of her mouth, and with a quick movement, she licked it up with her pink tongue.

Elias Lancaster finished his meeting, pushed open the door, and saw this scene, his Adam’s apple bobbing and his deep black eyes fixated on her small mouth eating the cake.

Then, his gaze fell on the V-neckline that couldn’t quite conceal her figure, unable to look away.

"Uncle, you’re done with your meeting?"

Serena sensed a burning gaze upon her and looked up to see Elias standing at the door.

Elias Lancaster snapped back to reality, looked away, and walked forward, "Is it good?"

"Delicious."

Elias Lancaster bent down, placing his hands on either side of her, "Let me have a taste."

With that, he leaned down, and their lips met.

"Indeed, it’s delicious."

Serena lowered her head, her ears turning red. Lately, she’d noticed that Elias spontaneously kissed her quite often.

She had made up her mind; now that they were married, she would live well.

In the blink of an eye, three months passed, and because of the twins, Serena’s belly had slightly bulged.

Serena was dreaming, a wedding with Uncle in her dreams.

Suddenly.

"Ring..."

The phone’s ringtone pulled her back to reality from her dream.

Serena sleepily glanced at the caller ID, it was Nathan Sawyer, her childhood friend, so she answered it.

"Nathan."

"Serena, what have you been up to lately? I can transfer schools next semester, I went to your school today, and they said you took a leave of absence?"

Serena was at a bit of a loss for words; too many things had happened recently, and she hadn’t thought about telling Nathan.

"It’s not something that can be explained in a sentence or two."

"Did your parents stop you from going to school?" Nathan sounded a bit anxious.

"No, it’s just that some things came up." Serena’s voice carried a sleepy tone.

Nathan was taken aback on the other end, "It’s already ten o’clock, your parents let you sleep in this late?"

Serena wanted to say she was no longer living at that house.

But it wasn’t something to discuss over the phone.

Serena changed the subject, "Nathan, did you have something you wanted to ask me?"

"Nothing much, just wanted to let you know that I’ll be transferring to your school next semester so we can go to school together."

"That’s great! I’ll be able to see you more often."

"By the way, Serena, I just heard from the school’s security guard that your mom came looking for you at school."

Serena instantly became wide awake, nearly dropping her phone.

"Alright, I got it." She replied helplessly.

"Serena, the jewelry design competition starts accepting entries today. I’m meeting you at the café beside the school at two this afternoon, I have to go now, see you in the afternoon."

Nathan hung up the call, leaving Serena no chance to object.

Serena looked helplessly at the disconnected call.

Nathan Sawyer still hadn’t changed from childhood, always so lively and quick.

After getting up and freshening up, she had breakfast and went to find Nanny Livingston, "Nanny Livingston, my good friend has arranged to meet me at two this afternoon near the school, I need to go out."

"Alright, I’ll have the driver take you."

"Thank you, Nanny Livingston."

Subsequently, Nanny Livingston went to make preparations.

After waking up from her nap.

The driver promptly arrived at two to take Serena to the café near the school.

She got out of the car.

"Serena, my sweet little darling."

Nathan Sawyer ran enthusiastically towards her, enveloping her in a strong bear hug.

Serena reflexively protected her belly.
