Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Are You Pregnant?
Serena Yeats experienced heavy bleeding, and stayed in the hospital for nearly half a month before returning to The Lancaster Family. These days, she always feels very hungry.
She was afraid there was something wrong with her body. After calling the doctor, she found out that breastfeeding also consumes a lot of energy.
Old Madam Lancaster wouldn’t let her bathe during her postpartum confinement, so every day when she saw Old Madam Lancaster coming, she would hide, afraid that she would smell bad.
But Old Madam Lancaster insisted, always getting close to her, and they took care of the two children together.
Old Master Lancaster seemed serious, but he was very fond of the two kids.
He wanted to see them several times a day.
Since they didn’t know when Elias Lancaster could return, Old Master Lancaster and Old Madam Lancaster discussed holding the full month celebration with Serena Yeats.
"Serena, let’s go ahead and plan the full month celebration. Let your mom start preparing for it," Old Master Lancaster said gently.
"Dad, I... I want to wait for Elias to come back before we hold it," Serena Yeats said, with her head lowered. "Elias is the child’s father. It’s not right if he’s not here."
Old Master Lancaster and Old Madam Lancaster exchanged glances.
"Serena, we’ll do as you say," Old Madam Lancaster said with a smile. "When that rascal comes back, let him personally handle his son’s full month celebration."
Serena Yeats looked up in surprise and was about to say something when she was interrupted by a servant.
"Master, Madam, Young Master Grayson and Young Master Sterling have arrived."
"Please invite them to the living room. We’ll be right down," Old Madam Lancaster said happily.
Brandon Grayson looked at the two little babies, absolutely delighted.
"Aunt Lancaster, can I hold him?"
He reached out to play with the little one in Old Madam Lancaster’s arms.
Old Madam Lancaster was a bit hesitant, but didn’t refuse, since they were like brothers growing up together with her son. She nodded her head.
She showed him how to hold the baby, how to support his bottom with his hand...
Brandon Grayson followed her instructions and carefully held the baby.
But he was holding Yara, who was always restless and liked to squirm. Brandon Grayson immediately got nervous.
"Aunt Lancaster, what do I do when he keeps moving?"
Old Madam Lancaster laughed and took Yara back, "Yara’s naughty, scaring Uncle like that."
Brandon Grayson found this more exhausting than working twenty-four consecutive hours.
Jensen Sterling initially wanted to hold the baby too, but seeing Brandon Grayson sweating profusely, he was too scared to do it.
The two men, finding it inconvenient to visit Serena Yeats during her postpartum confinement, could only look at the two little ones in front of them.
They chatted about which parts looked like Elias Lancaster and which parts looked like Serena Yeats.
They stayed until the evening, and Old Madam Lancaster invited them to stay for dinner.
Only then did Serena Yeats come downstairs to have a meal with them, but she chose a seat far away from them.
When they saw her current appearance,
Both of them were momentarily stunned.
Brandon Grayson’s mouth twitched.
"You didn’t tidy up after having a baby?"
The next second,
He received glaring looks from everyone in The Lancaster Family.
His face changed, and he lowered his head to eat.
Nanny Livingston spoke up from the side.
"During postpartum confinement, bathing is not allowed because it could cause chills. If it weren’t for the two young masters’ visit today, Young Madam wouldn’t even come downstairs; she rests well in her room."
Jensen Sterling quickly chimed in.
"Looks like we have a lot of influence. As soon as we arrived, we got to see her."
Seeing this, Brandon Grayson quickly lifted his glass and gestured towards Serena Yeats.
"Congratulations on becoming a mom, and congratulations to The Lancaster Family on having such adorable little ones."
"Thank you!"
Yara, being held by Old Master Lancaster, suddenly reached for the glass in his hand.
He laughed heartily.
"This little guy wants to fight me for a drink? Are you going to become a little drunkard when you grow up?"
The atmosphere at the dining table livened up instantly thanks to Yara.
After dinner,
Serena Yeats couldn’t help but look back at Brandon Grayson before heading upstairs.
She knew Nathan Sawyer had always been in touch with him, but Nathan didn’t attend her childbirth, nor did he visit after she came home.
Whenever she called her, Nathan would always claim to be busy and say she’d visit later.
She wanted to ask him about Nathan, but felt like it’d be prying into matters that didn’t concern her.
After returning to her room with Nanny Livingston,
there were still visitors, though Serena Yeats didn’t know who else had come to see the twins.
Ever since her postpartum confinement began, The Lancaster Family treated her like a national treasure.
Afraid she’d catch cold or not have a good confinement period.
She’s been counting the days on her fingers, wanting to finish the confinement quickly so she can properly wash her hair and bathe.
When Nanny Livingston found out what she was thinking, she told her that a sixty-day confinement is ideal.
Serena Yeats instantly felt hopeless.
Because her milk came in late, there wasn’t much, not enough for both babies to eat. They had to mix with formula for feeding.
But they really caused a fuss.
No one knows what’s been wrong these past few days.
Yara kept waking up and crying in the middle of the night. No one could calm him except Serena Yeats.
As soon as she held him, he stopped crying, but once she put him down, he started wailing again.
It became so exhausting that Serena Yeats asked the maternity nurse to move the twins’ beds to her room.
From that day on, she barely slept at night, getting up to feed them and holding them through the night every time they cried.
Just ten days later, she had visibly lost weight.
Nanny Livingston and Old Madam Lancaster both felt bad for her, but no matter how much they advised, Serena wouldn’t let the maternity nurse stay in her room at night.
They could only keep thinking of ways to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for her.
But she kept losing weight.
Just as Serena Yeats was about to finish her confinement, Nathan Sawyer finally came to see her.
Serena Yeats was overjoyed to see her and pulled her into the room.
"Nathan, come look, the babies are so much fun."
Nanny Livingston and Old Madam Lancaster paused, listening to them talking.
Then,
Nanny Livingston whispered,
"Has the Young Madam taken the little ones as toys?"
Old Madam Lancaster chuckled,
"They’re toys, after all, haven’t you noticed? Yara loves to laugh and is quite mischievous, while Yuri is very quiet and calm."
Nathan Sawyer looked at the children, full of surprise.
"Serena, your babies are so good-looking. I can’t believe you actually gave birth to them, and two at that."
Serena Yeats picked up Yara and placed him on the big bed.
He looked at Serena and laughed happily.
Nathan Sawyer’s eyes were fixed on him.
"Serena, he’s smiling, how adorable."
"Nathan, do you want to hold him?" Serena Yeats said, pulling Nathan Sawyer’s hand.
Her hand brushed against Nathan Sawyer’s clothes.
Today Nathan Sawyer was wearing a Korean-style dress.
But what she touched didn’t feel like clothes? Wasn’t the texture off?
Nathan Sawyer looked down at the little one on the bed, changing the subject.
"Serena, what’s his name?"
Serena Yeats recalled how much Nathan Sawyer had thrown up during the competition, and an idea formed in her mind. She looked at Old Madam Lancaster.
"Mom, I’m hungry."
"Okay, I’ll go get something ready," Old Madam Lancaster replied, pulling Nanny Livingston out of the room, knowing the sisters had things to talk about.
"Nathan, are you pregnant?"
