Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Kidnapping
Elias Lancaster was startled, looked down at the baby in his arms, and couldn’t help but laugh.
"I read in a book that it’s good for babies to cry. Once you’re tired from crying, you’ll rest on your own!"
Then, he placed the baby in his arms onto the small bed and glanced at the other baby still sleeping.
"Can’t you be like your brother and not cry so much?"
Old Madam Lancaster, who had been standing outside the hospital room, paced back and forth anxiously.
After all, Elias Lancaster was in a wheelchair and could not care for others, much less two babies.
When she heard the crying, she became even more uneasy.
But she also remembered Serena Yeats’s narrow escape from death, and the young couple hadn’t seen each other for so long, they must have a lot to talk about, so she couldn’t bear to disturb them.
As the baby’s crying grew louder.
Old Madam Lancaster knocked on the door, but there was no response.
Then she pushed open the door to the hospital room.
"Elias Lancaster, don’t you hear your son crying?"
She saw Elias Lancaster by the bedside, tightly holding Serena Yeats’s hand.
Old Madam Lancaster immediately covered her mouth, afraid of waking Serena Yeats.
However, she still angrily pointed at Elias Lancaster and whispered, "Be careful or your son won’t like you in the future."
As she spoke, she picked up the baby and soothed him.
Elias Lancaster replied to her directly.
"That’s how I was brought up!"
Old Madam Lancaster was so angry she wanted to rush over and hit this unfilial son. If it weren’t for Serena and the two babies, she wouldn’t have let him off so easily.
Old Madam Lancaster took the two babies to the nursery, with two nurses taking care of them.
Until noon, when the nurse came for the shift change.
But the nurse noticed a somewhat unfamiliar person in front of her and asked suspiciously.
"Which department are you from? I haven’t seen you before."
"Oh, the head nurse just transferred me here. Today is my first day on the job."
"Then you need to pay extra attention to these two babies."
"Alright."
After the two nurses exchanged shifts, they left.
As one nurse was walking, she suddenly remembered that the shift change should involve two nurses; just now, there was only one.
She hurriedly turned back.
They hadn’t received any notice about newly transferred staff.
Moreover, the people taking care of the two babies these days were fixed and wouldn’t easily be changed.
As she thought about it, she quickened her pace.
She entered the nursery and looked at that nurse.
"I forgot to tell you, the two babies just drank milk."
But she underestimated this person; as she casually approached, ready to say something, she was suddenly pricked by a needle.
"You really..."
The nurse’s eyes showed horror, and the next second, she fell to the ground.
The woman’s eyes flashed with viciousness as she glanced at the baby in the crib.
He was staring at her with wide eyes.
The woman didn’t hesitate at all and directly picked up one of them.
"It’s The Lancaster Family that wants to drive me to extinction; you can’t blame me."
She coldly laughed and quickly walked out.
But just as she left the nursery, she heard footsteps approaching.
She immediately headed towards the emergency exit with the child in her arms.
It was the time when the bodyguards were having their meal, and Nia Irving had been delayed by some matters today.
But when she reached the nursery’s door, she immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly pushed the door open.
What she saw was the nurse lying on the floor, with only one baby remaining; the other was gone.
She picked up the baby and looked at the guards walking towards her.
"Quick, inform the Old Madam and Old Master Lancaster, one of the babies is missing."
The guards all turned pale. If something happened to Sonny, none of them would survive.
"What’s going on?"
Old Madam Lancaster and Old Master Lancaster came over.
Nia Irving said in a steady voice, "One baby is missing; only one baby is left."
Old Madam Lancaster couldn’t catch her breath and immediately fainted.
Elias Lancaster also heard the news, and Quentin Shaw pushed him over.
"There are people watching all the exits on this floor, nobody can get out," Elias Lancaster said. "Bring everyone over, guard all hospital exits for me, and search."
After speaking, Elias Lancaster started coughing.
Old Master Lancaster patted his back, "You need to take care of yourself; we will find him."
Elias Lancaster said coldly, "I’ll make sure she can’t live or die."
At this moment, Serena Yeats had just woken up in the ward.
Just as she was about to eat, she heard the news and the bowl slipped from her hand.
She stood up, grabbed a bodyguard, and asked, "Say that again."
The bodyguard’s eyes reddened, "One of the babies is missing."
Serena Yeats’s hands fell limply by her sides, and tears trickled down.
She quietly got out of bed, put on slippers, and stood up, almost losing her balance.
"Young Madam..."
Nia Irving also rushed over at this time.
"Serena, you can’t get out of bed now. Don’t worry; I will find him."
Serena Yeats reached out and took the baby in Nia Irving’s arms. "Let’s go find his brother."
Nanny Livingston, seeing her in tears, followed closely behind Serena Yeats.
Serena Yeats carried the baby and searched room by room.
When Elias Lancaster found her, her eyes were hollow, and her face was as pale as paper, but no matter what Elias Lancaster said, she wouldn’t listen.
He could only stay by her side.
Old Master Lancaster, upon inquiry, discovered that there was no such nurse in the hospital.
The director was sweating coldly, unable to comprehend how such an incident could have occurred.
Ronan Keaton also arrived at the hospital with a large group of bodyguards, personally leading a search throughout the hospital, room by room, floor by floor.
After reuniting with Elias Lancaster, they reviewed all the surveillance footage together.
Suddenly, Serena Yeats thought of the fact that they were currently on the top floor, leading to the area above...
She abruptly turned towards the escape route.
But then...
She felt a sharp pain in her stomach, and red liquid flowed down her legs. Nanny Livingston worriedly urged her to return to the ward.
But at this moment, Serena Yeats couldn’t care about anything else; she only wanted to find her child.
She reached the rooftop, looked at the wide open space, and saw there was nowhere to hide, except the two-meter-high platform.
It looked very tall.
"Serena, we’ve already searched here."
Serena Yeats didn’t speak, just circled the platform once.
She instantly burst into tears; where was her other baby?
With reddened eyes, she sobbed and turned back.
But as she was about to leave the platform, a baby’s cry broke the silence.
Serena Yeats couldn’t ignore the pain in her stomach and looked up at the platform above.
"Nia, he’s up there."
She handed the baby in her arms to Nanny Livingston, and the baby seemed to sense it and started crying.
"Nanny Livingston, stay back and hold him tightly."
She then turned her attention to the platform.
"Come out and give me back my child. I promise you whatever you want."
Nia Irving quickly climbed onto the platform.
Then they heard a shout.
"Don’t come any closer, or I’ll throw him down."
