Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Massive Hemorrhage
Serena Yeats’ face changed dramatically, wanting to say something to Elias Lancaster, but she could no longer speak.
What Elias Lancaster heard next were Serena Yeats’ cries again, each one softer and quieter than the last, and he heard them all.
He saw her strength, her effort, and her courage.
Half an hour later.
The second baby finally came out.
The doctor brought the baby to Serena Yeats, allowing her to take a look.
But Serena Yeats was already exhausted, everything in front of her blurred, and she immediately fainted.
"Serena..."
Old Madam Lancaster saw Serena Yeats faint and hurriedly called out to her in a fluster.
Elias Lancaster noticed something was wrong too and urgently called out.
"Serena, what’s wrong?"
The doctor quickly checked Serena Yeats’ condition.
"Old Madam, Young Madam is just too tired, it’s nothing serious. We’ll monitor her here for two hours and then transfer her to a ward."
The pediatrician on the other side frowned and said.
"Why isn’t this child crying?"
Old Madam Lancaster’s heart sank as she turned to look at the baby.
The obstetrician naturally heard too and said, "Give a couple of pats."
The pediatrician gave the baby two pats on the bottom.
"Smack, smack..."
The force was quite strong.
But the baby still didn’t cry.
The doctor couldn’t help but glance toward Old Madam Lancaster, then gave the baby another two pats on the bottom.
"Smack, smack..."
Hearing the continuous sound of smacking, Old Madam Lancaster frowned in distress.
Elias Lancaster also sensed the tense atmosphere.
"Mom, how’s the babies?"
Old Madam Lancaster immediately stood up, tightly grabbing the side of the hospital bed, her eyes firmly fixed on the baby.
At that moment, everyone in the delivery room turned serious and somber, and the chief physician immediately walked over to the baby.
All the doctors and nurses were observing the baby.
"What’s going on?"
Old Madam Lancaster asked tremulously.
But no one responded to her.
"Quick, clean the mouth and nose."
The nurse quickly cleaned them thoroughly, checked again, and told the doctor, "The baby’s temperature is normal, breathing is normal, alive."
Several doctors approached and checked the baby once more, their expressions somewhat surprised.
They looked at the tiny infant in front of them, who slowly opened his eyes, bright and black, full of spirit, the eyeballs moving as if looking at the people ahead.
Two small hands were still pushing at something, seeming to protest discomfort.
"Should be fine!"
One doctor reached out a hand to gently touch the infant’s hand,
the next second, his finger was firmly grasped by the infant.
"What’s wrong? What’s wrong with the baby?"
Old Madam Lancaster couldn’t wait any longer, hastily rushing over to see her little grandson.
But as she approached, immediately she locked eyes with a pair of shiny, soulful eyes, and then she happily reached out her hand to tentatively touch the infant’s hand.
Just like the doctor tried, the infant instantly grasped her finger.
"My little precious is really amazing!"
She was both surprised and joyful; she was frightened earlier, and now she wanted to give him a kiss.
That’s what she wanted to do, and she did so.
But she had just bent over when the doctor stopped her.
"Old Madam, this baby hasn’t cried, we need to carry out a detailed examination."
"Still need an examination? Isn’t he fine?"
Old Madam Lancaster wiggled her hand, still being held by the infant.
After explaining to Old Madam Lancaster about the situation of the two babies, the head nurse gave Serena Yeats and both babies wristbands.
"Mom, how are the babies? How is Serena?"
Elias Lancaster’s urgent voice came through.
But his mother didn’t have time to deal with him; she was joyous looking at the two cute little treasures before her.
Then, the doctor said with a smile,
"Congratulations, Old Madam Lancaster, on your golden grandchildren, congratulations to Master Lancaster and Young Madam, on the pair of dragons."
Following that were the congratulations of the nurses.
Elias Lancaster heard the blessings transmitted over, stunned for a moment, and soon his face was full of smiles.
There were now two little beings linked to him by blood in this world.
But thinking of Serena Yeats’ pain during childbirth, his heart ached, and he considered having a vasectomy once he recovers, so Serena wouldn’t have to suffer again.
These two children were enough.
Old Madam Lancaster felt a little disappointed, she had hoped for a cute little granddaughter.
But it turned out both were boys.
She picked up her phone, gazing at Elias Lancaster on the screen for a while.
"Elias, are you hurt?"
"Mom, I’m fine, take good care of Serena, I’ll be there soon."
Meanwhile, the doctor was holding medicine nearby, preparing to inject him to let him sleep for a while, or it would be really dangerous.
But Elias Lancaster was insisting they stay away.
"Mom, Serena just gave birth and will be hungry when she wakes up. Please prepare some porridge or soft noodles, and the babies will be quite restless. You should bring experienced adults from home to the hospital..."
Elias Lancaster instructed a lot, overwhelming Old Madam Lancaster.
"I got it, don’t worry, we’ll take good care of Serena and the babies."
Elias Lancaster nodded.
"Elias, are you injured? You’re now a father, you must protect yourself. If something happens to you, your wife and sons..."
Elias Lancaster nodded vigorously.
He set the phone aside.
The doctor immediately came over and injected Elias Lancaster with a calming medication.
"Master Lancaster, you need to control your emotions, or your heart won’t take it."
Elias Lancaster cooperatively extended his hand, happily saying, "I became a father, can’t control it."
The doctor helplessly said nothing more.
Elias Lancaster’s hand was tightly covering his chest, enduring the waves of pain his heart sent, looking outside with a face full of smiles.
All safe, that’s good.
An hour later, the helicopter landed on the hospital rooftop.
Elias Lancaster sat in a wheelchair, pushed down by Ronan Keaton.
He pushed Elias Lancaster into the ward but didn’t see anyone.
After asking, he understood that naturally birthed mothers needed to be observed in the delivery room for two hours, monitoring their uterus for bleeding and contraction.
But just as Elias Lancaster was about to reach the delivery room door, he saw the nurse rushing out!
Elias Lancaster had a bad feeling.
In the delivery room.
The machines suddenly made abnormal noises.
Serena Yeats’ breath suddenly weakened, and the doctor quickly examined and found postpartum hemorrhage.
"Not good, Young Madam is experiencing postpartum hemorrhage."
Old Madam Lancaster took the baby to wash first.
A nurse ran out with the surgical consent form.
As soon as she left the delivery room, Ronan Keaton intercepted her.
"How is Serena Yeats?"
"What’s your relation to her?" The nurse hurriedly asked.
"I am her husband."
"I am her brother."
Elias Lancaster and Ronan Keaton replied simultaneously.
"Are you Master Lancaster?" The nurse asked.
Elias Lancaster nodded.
"Then please, Master Lancaster, sign the surgical consent form. Young Madam has postpartum hemorrhage and needs surgery."
The atmosphere outside the delivery room suddenly became gloomy.
Elias Lancaster felt suffocated.
"She was just fine, how could there be a hemorrhage!" Ronan Keaton’s eyes reddened. "Elias, sign it now, let Serena undergo surgery first!"
Elias Lancaster took the surgical consent form with trembling hands, shaking so much he couldn’t hold the pen, which fell to the ground.
His heart was panic-stricken and pained, sensing something ominous.
A wave of dizziness came over him; he bit his tongue, spreading the pain, staying conscious.
Ronan Keaton was in better shape; he quickly picked up the pen and signed the consent form.
