Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Sick
Can we go back to The Lancaster Family now?
Looks like it’s already too late.
Elias Lancaster picked up Serena Yeats in his arms and moved towards the sofa, then the stairs, and finally, the bedroom.
It wasn’t until close to noon when Serena finally fell asleep.
During the one week that Yara and Yuri weren’t around.
Elias Lancaster didn’t idle; apart from teasing his wife, he just teased his wife, using every trick in the book.
Serena felt every day that her waist was no longer hers.
Amidst her pleas, Elias Lancaster agreed to stop teasing her and gave her a break.
She finally had a proper sleep.
A peaceful sleep.
She knew that allowing her to rest last night meant Elias Lancaster wouldn’t spare her today.
Taking advantage of him showering in the evening, she seized the opportunity to quickly put on clothes and sneak away.
The bathroom door swung open from the inside.
Elias came out, drying his hair, only to find the bedroom completely empty.
The wife who was lying on the bed was nowhere to be seen.
Where’s my wife?
Elias searched upstairs and downstairs but didn’t see any sign of Serena, and no one answered the phone.
He squinted his eyes, his wife had run away,
his eyes flashed with a dangerous light.
If she dared to run, she’d get a good scolding upon returning.
Serena took a cab straight to The Lancaster Family.
Hearing the doorbell, Nanny Livingston answered the door, surprised to see her, "Young Madam, what brings you here?"
"Nanny Livingston, are Dad and Mom at home?"
Serena thought only they could save her from this predicament.
Nanny Livingston smiled, "They took the two young masters to the holiday villa for a few days."
"Then I’ll go find them."
Serena said as she turned to leave.
But...
Just as she turned around, she saw a car drive slowly up to her and stop.
The car door opened in response.
As she saw the face inside, her legs felt weak.
Elias Lancaster was sitting in the car, gazing at her intently with half-closed eyes.
Serena felt like crying but had no tears.
How did he catch up so fast?
Elias stepped out of the car and walked toward her, his tone gentle, "Honey, what brings you here all of a sudden?"
"Uh... I missed Yara and Yuri, came to see them."
Serena’s eyes darted about, feeling very flustered inside.
"Why didn’t you call me to come with you?" Elias looked at her, "Or were you deliberately trying to run away?"
"I wasn’t!"
Serena helplessly reached out to pull his sleeve, "I just missed the kids so much, how could I run away."
"Really?"
"I can’t cling to my husband enough," Serena nodded earnestly.
"Seems like Serena can’t leave me."
Serena nodded vigorously.
But as soon as she spoke, she suddenly felt herself lifted in the air, instinctively throwing her arms around Elias’s neck.
She cried out in surprise. "Hubby, what are you doing?"
"Of course, we’re going home. My wife can’t leave me, so we must stick together."
Elias lifted Serena into the car.
"I haven’t seen the kids yet, no rush to go home." Serena tried to get out of the car.
Elias swiftly grabbed her waist, pulled her back into the car, closed the door, and locked it.
"Honey, why are you running?"
Serena, "..."
Three days later, Nathan Sawyer and Brandon Grayson came to see Serena.
Nathan noticed Serena seemed to lack energy.
"Serena, what’s wrong? You look so tired, didn’t you get enough rest?"
"I’m sleep-deprived."
Serena couldn’t speak out her troubles.
That day, failing to sneak out and being caught back...
Elias kept her by his side every day, not letting her out of his sight for even a second.
She couldn’t rest during the day, even less at night.
She felt like her soul was about to leave her body.
Nathan, however, just assumed she hadn’t slept well, "Don’t worry, Yara and Yuri are well cared for by their grandparents, they’re their precious darlings."
Serena knew this, but...
"I want to bring Yara and Yuri back."
Serena still felt the kids should be closer to their parents.
The next day.
The man returned from the study to the bedroom, seeing the person on bed looking so adorable, he couldn’t resist wanting to bite gently.
He couldn’t help but plant a kiss on her forehead.
But as he kissed her, Elias sensed something was wrong; Serena’s body temperature felt off.
His face darkened, placing a hand on Serena’s forehead, finding it unusually warm.
"Honey, are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
The man asked anxiously.
Serena opened her eyes momentarily, then closed them, her eyelids heavy and body weak, "I’m not feeling well."
Her voice was small, faint, her breath hot.
Elias was immediately worried.
Serena was already somewhat frail, and childbirth had further depleted her, though she’d recovered well during confinement, getting sick now wasn’t good.
He helped Serena dress.
"Come on honey, give me your hand."
Seeing how weak she looked, his heart ached.
"I’ll take you to the hospital!"
He dressed Serena and slipped on her shoes, carrying her out.
Once in the car, he sent a message to Theodore Lynch.
When they arrived, the doctor was already there waiting.
After the examination, the doctor delivered the results.
"President Lancaster, your wife is suffering from sleep deprivation, leading to decreased immunity, causing a cold and fever."
Elias sighed in relief, though his brow was furrowed.
"Thank you."
In the hospital room, when the nurse gave Serena an injection, she flinched, muttering about the pain with a fever clouded mind.
The man’s heart shrank, and he hurried forward, gently stroking Serena’s cheek, softly comforting her.
"There, there, it’ll stop hurting soon."
Once the nurse secured the needle and left.
He held her un-needled hand, kissing it. "Honey, it’s all my fault."
Theodore Lynch soon arrived at the hospital.
"Is sister-in-law alright?"
Elias nodded, "She’s fine, already starting to recover from the fever."
"Master Lancaster, you’re really something, managed to wear her into a hospital." Theodore teased.
Elias’s face was dark.
"Scram, don’t disturb my wife’s rest."
Serena slept until the afternoon before waking, the fever-reducing injection left her feeling much better after a restful sleep.
"Honey, are you feeling better?"
Serena nodded, "Elias, I’m much better, I want to go home!"
Elias knew that because of her delivery experience, she didn’t like hospitals, even feared them a bit, so he hurriedly took her home.
"Let’s go home."
After this illness, Elias simply weaned the two little rascals, no more storing milk.
Serena was unwilling.
Breast milk is nutritious, she went through so much trouble to get it back.
"Yara and Yuri are still young..."
"Formula is nutritious enough."
Then, the man whispered something in her ear...
Serena’s face turned an instant shade of red, even her neck was blushing.
