“Who are you?”
“Help! Help me!”
The captain, lying on the hospital bed, saw the figure that suddenly appeared before him and cried out in terror.
“Who I am is not important, what is important is…” Ying Chen slowly raised his head and looked at the captain.
“Hmm, you don’t seem to be able to listen to me rationally right now. Then you just keep shouting! When you’ve had enough and are too weak to shout, we can chat,” he said.
With that, Ying Chen pulled up a chair and sat down.
The captain, seeing Ying Chen’s unperturbed demeanor, became even more terrified.
He raised his voice, increased his volume, and shouted all the ways to call for help he had ever learned.
He even went so far as to offer ten thousand yuan if he would just help him call the police.
But to his surprise, no one responded.
The hospital room seemed to have fallen into another dimension, cut off from the real world.
The captain’s cries for help simply could not reach the outside.
After a long while, the captain finally stopped shouting, exhausted.
It was then that Ying Chen, with a playful smile, asked, “Had enough shouting?”
The captain clearly realized something. He gave Ying Chen a fearful look but said nothing.
Nor did he continue shouting.
“By the way, does what you said earlier still count? If I just make a phone call to report to the police for you, you’re willing to pay ten thousand yuan?”
Ying Chen suddenly took out his phone from his pocket and said.
“…” The captain’s cheeks trembled.
He no longer knew whether to laugh or cry.
Who exactly was this person before him?
Clearly, he had come to silence him, yet before doing so, he wanted to make some money from a dying man?
He was willing to do something like call the police as long as he was paid?
Was this person simply not thinking straight, or was he overconfident in his abilities?
If it was the former, perhaps he could outsmart him and save himself;
If it was the latter, it would be bad. The other party was clearly confident that he could kill him and escape before the police arrived!
The captain decided to try and gauge which of the two Ying Chen was before making his decision.
Just as the captain was about to speak, he heard Ying Chen laugh, “It’s no use. Your little tricks won’t work on me. If you truly want to live, there is only one path.”
“What path?” the captain couldn’t help but ask.
“Cooperate obediently.”
To his surprise, these four words ignited a surge of anger in the captain: “Cooperate obediently? Dream on!”
“You stabbed me like this, and the doctor said I can’t get out of bed for at least half a year. Even if I can walk afterward, I’ll still have pain in damp weather! My life has been ruined by you! I haven’t even gotten married yet!”
“After you’ve harmed me so badly, you still expect me to cooperate with you and provide a fake test report? You must be dreaming!”
“So what if I die? Come on! My future is already ruined anyway. If you kill me, I can at least get the reputation of a heroic sacrifice, and my parents will receive some compensation!”
“Come on, do it here! Whoever backs down is a bastard!”
The captain puffed out his chest, pointed at his head, and shouted repeatedly.
Ying Chen watched the captain’s “suicidal behavior” with indifference and said expressionlessly, “Oh, so you have parents?”
*Swish!*
These few simple words turned the captain’s face deathly pale.
The defiant, death-defying look vanished instantly.
“You… don’t do anything rash! Do not involve my family, that’s a basic rule of the martial world!”
“You’ll be scorned by your peers if you do this!”
Hearing this, Ying Chen smiled playfully.
“So you’re not fearless after all!”
Then, Ying Chen’s figure moved. Before the captain could react, Ying Chen had already reached his side and struck him hard in the abdomen!
“It’s over!”
The captain’s heart sank.
He thought Ying Chen had attacked him, shattering all his internal organs!
But strangely, he felt a warm current slowly rise from his abdomen, coiling around his organs like a small snake.
His abdomen, which had been constantly aching, was miraculously no longer in pain!
“What… what’s going on?” The captain was stunned.
Ying Chen, meanwhile, had already returned to his seat.
“The so-called post-operative complications are nothing more than an imbalance of qi in the viscera. You don’t notice it during normal times, but when the weather turns damp and the body temperature drops, the qi in the viscera feels like ice blades slicing through the body, causing severe pain.”
“So, as long as this imbalanced qi is dispersed and prevented from causing trouble, the complications will be cured naturally.”
Ying Chen explained calmly.
The captain was both delighted and confused.
He was delighted that Ying Chen had resolved the complications that even the chief surgeon couldn’t fix;
He was confused as to why Ying Chen, who was supposed to kill him to silence him, was now saving him?
Did Ying Chen have some peculiar habit, like a cheetah that doesn’t eat carrion, liking to cure his victim’s illness before killing them, to gain a sense of accomplishment?
“Don’t look at me like that. Don’t worry, I’m not here to kill you.”
“And I’m not saving you so you can tamper with the test report. I just hope you can be discharged from the hospital soon and return to preside over the testing work,” Ying Chen said, looking at the captain.
The captain’s expression became incredibly complex.
After a long pause, the captain finally said in disbelief, “So, you’re not an assassin!”
“So, you’re a righteous person who acts for the good of others!”
“You also can’t stand what that fellow named Min has done, so you risked entering the hospital to treat me, just hoping I’ll return to oversee the testing and announce the results as soon as possible!”
“You’re worried that after I’m gone from the testing team, Mr. Min will bribe them, right?”
“A misunderstanding, a huge misunderstanding! I actually thought you were an assassin…”
“I’m sorry, please accept my bow!”
As he spoke, the captain struggled to get out of bed, walked to Ying Chen’s side, and bowed solemnly.
His face was filled with emotion, and his eyes were brimming with tears.
“Why has our country been able to develop and prosper to this day? Why has our national civilization been able to endure for thousands of years without perishing?”
“It’s because we have a succession of righteous individuals like you!”
“On behalf of the people of the whole country, on behalf of fairness and justice, on behalf of truth and perseverance, I thank you!”
With that, the captain bowed twice more.
Ying Chen adopted an expression of “That’s right, exactly so” and graciously accepted the captain’s three bows.
Then he patted the captain on the shoulder, “Remember what you said today: For fairness and justice! For truth and perseverance!”
“Goodbye!”
With that, Ying Chen’s figure flickered and disappeared from the room.
The captain, from beginning to end, never understood how Ying Chen had arrived or how he had left.
The captain stared blankly at the spot where Ying Chen had disappeared, and after a long while, murmured, “A dragon only shows its head but never its tail, that must be what they mean by this kind of person!”
“With the strong support of people like him, and the earnest expectations of the entire nation, how can I be defeated by my injuries?”
“Nurse! I want to be discharged!”
“I want to return to my post and continue the fight!”
The captain’s fighting spirit instantly soared, and he shouted loudly.
