"What do you want to do? Don't kill me."
Zuo Ao Ran never thought he would die so easily. The demonic energy within him had not yet been unleashed when his demon core was destroyed by a sword.
Even more frustrating, he had lost the effect of his personal domain. His soul was now under someone else's control, and he could be scattered at any moment.
"Why are you on the Xuan Tian Continent?" Leng Xing Zhi calmly swept his gaze over Zuo Ao Ran's soul. At a visible speed, the soul became even more transparent.
"I came to find the Yin Soul Wood. My soul was injured by Yin Fire. Without the Yin Soul Wood, my soul will split," Zuo Ao Ran cried. If he had known they were so powerful, he would have bought the Yin Soul Wood regardless of the spirit stones.
Chu Ling Wei walked to her senior brother's side and looked at Zuo Ao Ran, who was now only a soul. He still had a human appearance, but the two horns on his head marked his distinctiveness.
Leng Xing Zhi smiled faintly. This smile made Zuo Ao Ran's body tremble involuntarily.
"I'm telling the truth, I'm not lying to you."
"Is the Demon King Xie Zhi still alive?" Leng Xing Zhi interrupted him.
Upon hearing the name of their Demon King, Zuo Ao Ran's body trembled uncontrollably. This was the pressure from the strong upon the weak, stemming from the very soul.
"He is still alive."
Leng Xing Zhi did not need his answer. These words flowed from his thin lips, and Zuo Ao Ran's body gradually faded.
Chu Ling Wei watched his body slowly fade. His mouth continued to open and close, likely in supplication, but no sound could be made.
With Zuo Ao Ran's death, his personal domain also disappeared.
"Wei Wei." Huan Mao saw Chu Ling Wei standing not far from him and pounced into her arms with surprise. He had been extremely worried just now.
"You, you're not allowed to run off alone anymore." Chu Ling Wei pinched Huan Mao's ear. This fellow, upon seeing his enemy, had disregarded his own life.
Huan Mao's wronged voice reached Chu Ling Wei's ears, "I'm sorry, Wei Wei. I just wanted to find the location of this great demon, I didn't expect him to be so cunning."
Before Chu Ling Wei could scold him again, they were already surrounded by over a dozen cultivators at the Hua Tian realm.
They all emanated the same gloomy aura as Zuo Ao Ran.
"Kill!"
These individuals had only killing intent in their eyes. Their master was dead, and they knew they could not live either. Their only recourse was to avenge their master.
Chu Ling Wei stepped back and immediately summoned her magical artifact to defend against their attacks.
"It's been a while since I stretched my muscles. Today, I'll show you how powerful I am." Nangong Luo laughed, his spirit beast and magical artifact appearing simultaneously, and he immediately engaged in battle.
Huan Mao, skilled in illusions, unleashed his techniques as these individuals charged towards Chu Ling Wei, surrounding them with blood-colored energy.
Chu Ling Wei gave them no chance to recover. Spotting one, she thrust her sword directly at his dantian, taking his life.
"Wei Wei, I'll hold them off, you deal with them one by one."
Huan Mao stayed by Chu Ling Wei's side, trapping these individuals in illusions, helping Chu Ling Wei briefly immobilize them so she could kill them.
One person and one beast, their coordination was impeccable. In less than two breaths, they had killed two Hua Tian realm cultivators.
"I didn't expect junior sister to be quite capable as well."
After a fierce battle, Nangong Luo wiped his magical artifact and teased.
No wonder their master had taken in a female disciple. Her killing actions were swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.
"If I weren't capable, how could I be your junior sister?" Chu Ling Wei said without humility, tilting her chin. She never feared a fight.
Chu Ling Wei's words made Nangong Luo and the others laugh.
Her words resonated with them.
"Let's go, we can't stay here for long."
The commotion they caused was too great; several powerful figures were already heading their way.
Leng Xing Zhi waved his hand, brought them onto his magical artifact, and departed rapidly.
As for the corpses on the ground, they were left untreated.
The news of the deaths of those Hua Tian realm cultivators who had been causing trouble on the Xuan Tian Continent should be made known to those people.
However, Zuo Ao Ran's corpse was collected by Leng Xing Zhi into his storage space.
Upon returning to the inn, everyone was somewhat weary.
Chu Ling Wei retrieved spirit tea from her spatial dimension and placed it on the table.
"Senior Brother, we killed that great demon. Will the demon race pursue us and seek revenge?" Chu Ling Wei recalled that Zuo Ao Ran was of royal demon lineage and likely held a significant position.
However, even if they were pursued, she was not afraid.
"Yes."
Leng Xing Zhi's reply was direct. He continued, "But only if they find out who killed him."
In essence, if they couldn't find out who killed Zuo Ao Ran, they wouldn't rampage across the Xuan Tian Continent.
The demon race wasn't foolish enough to antagonize the entire Xuan Tian Continent for one individual.
"I wonder if the demon royal family has any secret techniques, or perhaps they've placed curses on these princes and grandchildren that transmit their final moments back or something?"
Chu Ling Wei looked at her senior brother. Novels often depicted such scenarios.
Leng Xing Zhi chuckled. His junior sister's earnest gaze, eager for an answer, was too endearing, stirring his heart slightly.
Nangong Luo also laughed, teasing, "I didn't expect junior sister to know so much."
"That's certainly possible. For instance, the tokens worn by all direct disciples in our sect have a secret technique placed upon them. If a direct disciple dies, the token will transmit the disciple's final recorded images back to the sect," Su Yan explained to Chu Ling Wei with a smile. No one wished for their diligently cultivated disciples to die easily; they would undoubtedly investigate the cause of death.
"Senior Brother had already considered this, otherwise, why do you think he died so easily?" Nangong Luo felt like tapping his junior sister's head.
Their junior sister, sometimes aloof, sometimes adorably naive, was quite an interesting person.
"So that's how it is. I thought it was because I was so powerful that I killed the great demon."
Chu Ling Wei suddenly understood, having almost believed she had killed a great demon all by herself.
"Hahahaha"
Nangong Luo laughed even louder at this remark. He absolutely adored his junior sister.
A deeper smile touched Leng Xing Zhi's lips, his eyes shimmering with emotion as he continuously followed Chu Ling Wei's movements.
The great demon was dead, and there was nothing more to worry about. Chu Ling Wei returned to her room and had a good night's sleep.
The next day, she awoke to bright daylight.
"Feng Ming, you're awake." Chu Ling Wei heard Feng Ming's call from within the spatial dimension and brought him out.
"Wei Wei, my injuries have recovered by fifty percent. I can now defeat a seventh-tier spirit beast." Feng Ming was overjoyed. He jumped into Chu Ling Wei's embrace, showing off his newfound abilities.
"What's there to brag about being able to defeat a seventh-tier spirit beast? You still can't transform," Huan Mao said coolly from the side. He, at least, could transform.
The smile on Feng Ming's face vanished instantly. His gaze turned cold as he lunged directly towards Huan Mao.
