The madmen engrossed in scientific research merely grumbled that some bastard's experiment had failed again, causing such a disturbance that it ruined their own.
But they soon realized that things were not that simple, especially when one of them got mud splattered on their face from the slime monster's projectile liquid.
It was only then that these madmen, whose minds were solely focused on research, understood that one of their colleagues was dead, killed by this sudden intruder.
This immediately unsettled everyone present. Although they were madmen willing to go to any lengths for their experiments, their ruthlessness was directed at others and experimental subjects. They valued their own lives immensely, otherwise, they wouldn't have chosen to serve Darkseid to survive after he destroyed their homeland.
Seeing the fleeing researchers, Bai Qi had no intention of wiping them all out. After all, killing them would bring him no benefit. As long as they didn't cause trouble, sparing them was an option.
Upon reaching the main computer, Bai Qi looked at the completely unfamiliar Apokoliptian technology. He knew there wasn't enough time to study it, so he could only entrust the task of researching its usage and downloading data to his pocket watch.
"Pocket watch activated."
"Connecting to the Apokoliptian biological laboratory main computer, connecting..."
"Connection complete, commencing download, downloading..."
As the progress bar grew, data from the main computer was continuously downloaded into Bai Qi's database.
Unsure who was responsible, while Bai Qi was downloading data from the main computer with his pocket watch, the laboratory door suddenly opened. A squad of ten robots armed with laser weapons stormed in. The leading robot quickly scanned everyone in the lab and soon locked onto Bai Qi, the intruder. Without a word, the ten-robot squad unleashed a barrage of fire upon Bai Qi.
This barrage, instead of causing Bai Qi any harm, plunged the already chaotic laboratory into further disarray.
However, compared to the possibility of themselves being hit by the wildly flying lasers, they were clearly more concerned about the lasers hitting the main computer.
After all, all their data was ultimately gathered in the main computer. It was their lifeline. If anything happened to it, it would be worse than killing them.
What's more, Bai Qi was standing right next to the main computer. With them so close, several lasers narrowly missed the computer. A slight deviation would have certainly struck it.
"Stop it! You bastards, what are you doing! Stop shooting!"
Seeing the main computer nearly damaged several times, some of the agitated researchers could no longer sit still. They yelled, demanding the robot guards cease firing.
But their permissions were too low, or rather, as researchers, they were not on the same system as security. They simply could not command the robot guards to stop firing.
Fortunately, Bai Qi intervened in time, using his telekinesis to crush the ten erratically firing robot guards into metal discs.
He had no choice. Even if the laser guns wielded by the robot guards couldn't harm him, they would definitely damage the main computer. The pocket watch was still downloading data from it, so the computer could not be damaged in the slightest until the download was complete.
Seeing the robotic guards, meant to protect them, being flattened, these researchers felt no anger or fear. Instead, they let out a long sigh of relief.
At least for now, this sudden intruder didn't seem to have any intention of attacking them. As long as they didn't provoke him, they should be safe. And he was merely downloading data from the main computer, with no intention of destroying it.
Rather than having the robotic guards damage the main computer, it was better to let this person quietly download what he needed and leave.
Later, if an investigation occurred, it would be the robotic guards' failure to stop the intruder from stealing data, and their own inability to handle such a situation, given their lack of combat ability, would be understandable.
Seeing how cooperative the researchers were, Bai Qi didn't trouble them further. After quickly downloading all the data from the main computer, Bai Qi left on his own.
After Bai Qi departed, the people in the laboratory looked at each other, then at the robot guards flattened into metal discs. Without a word, they lowered their heads and continued with their experiments, as if nothing had happened.
Leaving the biological laboratory, Bai Qi went to another laboratory specializing in military technology. However, unlike the relatively laid-back researchers in the biological laboratory, the researchers in the military laboratory were all full of martial spirit. Upon seeing Bai Qi, an intruder attempting to steal data from their main computer, they immediately drew their personal weapons and attacked Bai Qi.
Unfortunately, the laser weapons equipped by the robotic guards couldn't cause Bai Qi even the slightest harm, let alone the laser handguns these researchers carried for self-defense. They couldn't even tickle him.
Their overly aggressive actions, however, brought about their demise.
Bai Qi had not intended to kill them. But when they chose to shoot at him, to prevent them from damaging the main computer, Bai Qi had no choice but to eliminate these overly aggressive researchers.
After downloading the complete contents of the two major Apokoliptian laboratories' main computers, Bai Qi had mastered most of Apokolips's technological knowledge and achievements. A small amount of core data was still stored in the palace of the Dark Lord, Darkseid, which was Bai Qi's next target.
With Earth's superheroes like Superman blocking the way, drawing Darkseid's firepower and attention, Bai Qi was confident he could collect all the remaining core data.
However, before that, some necessary precautions had to be taken.
Looking at the eyeballs that had returned after collecting energy from all directions, Bai Qi was satisfied and retracted them into his body.
It was unrealistic for just over twenty eyeballs to drain the entire energy of Apokolips. Bai Qi had never intended to do so.
If Bai Qi had only heard of Darkseid's strength before, then now, after a direct confrontation, he could confidently tell you that Darkseid was truly strong, both physically and mentally. It was extremely difficult to truly erase him.
Bai Qi could temporarily hold Darkseid in check, but he could not truly obliterate him, at least not with his current strength.
