Chapter 330 Surprise Attack on Arkham (2)

Captain Boomerang had barely finished speaking when King Shark responded.

"Ha, the shark finally has an idea."

From his tone, it was clear Captain Boomerang had low expectations of King Shark's intellect.

"Shut up, repeat your method."

"Show the footage from the same time yesterday."

"I can do that."

With that, Harley volunteered and ran to a machine to operate it.

"We can move without surveillance now."

"Do you mean Batman or Waller?"

"Both."

"The enhanced treatment area is over there, just across the yard."

After finishing the operation, the group gathered around a map to plan their next route.

"Let's move, keep it low-key."

Soon, the group encountered their first problem.

At the entrance to the yard stood four watchtowers, with four searchlights constantly scanning the area below.

"I can climb up."

Black Spider volunteered.

"No time."

As he spoke, Lawton stood up and, using his mounted sight, locked onto all four guards on the watchtowers.

Just as he was about to fire, Captain Boomerang interrupted him.

"You take two, I'll take two."

"Alright, on my command."

"Execute!"

The two moved simultaneously.

Lawton's high-speed bullets easily dispatched two guards, but one of Captain Boomerang's returning boomerangs missed its target, the other was dodged by the guard ducking to drink coffee just as it was about to hit.

Seeing this, Lawton angrily berated, "You missed!"

"Hold on a moment."

Captain Boomerang was unconcerned. As the boomerang returned, it successfully struck the guard again.

"How about that?"

Catching the boomerang, the Captain provocatively looked at Lawton.

Unexpectedly, Lawton shoved him away and said, "He used his radio. I considered that a miss, you loser."

Captain Boomerang, unable to tolerate such an insult, lunged at Lawton and they began to fight.

Just then, Harley whispered, "Gentlemen, incoming."

Two teams of people were approaching from the opposite direction, the front line carrying riot shields, followed by armed guards. In this situation, proactively attacking was clearly not a good option.

King Shark, however, paid no mind. Before Lawton could stop him, he charged forward.

His massive frame directly broke through their formation.

Harley followed close behind, kicking a SWAT officer to the ground.

"Truly low-key."

The situation had now fully exposed them, and there was no need to maintain their stealth. The remaining four exchanged glances and moved out swiftly, preparing to end the fight as quickly as possible.

"What's going on, Lawton? Why aren't you on the monitor?"

"The system must be malfunctioning. I'm a bit busy here, I'll call you back later."

"Don't lie to me, criminal. Go get the cane and come out."

Far away on the streets of Gotham, Batman looked at the Scorpion he had just knocked out with a heavy heart.

This was not right.

Gotham City's nights had been too eventful for the past three days.

First Rhino, then Vulture, then Mysterious Man, and now Scorpion. These criminals, originally from New York, had appeared in Gotham City in the past few days as if by arrangement, causing destruction with no apparent motive.

After all, even criminals had their territories. Such behavior of casually crossing borders was highly illogical.

As he got into the Batmobile, Alfred's video call came through.

"You seem preoccupied tonight, sir."

"It's about Harley Quinn, Alfred. Her behavior is bizarre, and these external criminals, their actions are completely aimless."

"More bizarre than usual?"

"It's as if she's happy to be caught."

"Perhaps she misses her Pudding."

"Perhaps. This incident might be related to the Joker's bomb. Arkham has a yellow alert tonight."

"Everything appears normal."

As Alfred spoke, he brought up Arkham's surveillance feed.

Looking at the multiple screens before him, Batman frowned and said, "That's Murgle. She doesn't work on Fridays. And Freek isn't working either. Those are Thursday staff."

It was precisely because Batman cared so much about Arkham that he remembered exactly which staff member worked which day.

"This isn't current footage. They're showing old footage. Something has happened at Arkham."

Meanwhile, in the yard, as Harley swung her final blow, the chaotic melee came to an end.

However, due to the reckless behavior of this group, Lawton was extremely displeased, and the team's relationships had become very strained. If not for the bombs implanted in their necks, these criminals would have likely resorted to violence right then and there; but for now, with a common goal, they could only press forward.

They entered the innermost area, the warehouse where all the patients' belongings were stored.

Wooden crates, each marked with a patient's name, were piled up like small mountains.

"Everyone take responsibility for one area and start searching."

As time passed, many found what they were looking for.

Harley found a beautiful, colorful wooden mallet in the crate marked "Joker." Captain Boomerang found a pink unicorn toy. Frost Queen found Mr. Freeze's freeze gun.

As Frost Queen was taking the freeze gun out of the crate, she happened to glance at the crate next to it, which was clearly labeled "Riddler."

"Jackpot."

Frost Queen gave King Shark a look. Without a word, King Shark stepped forward and flipped open the lid of the wooden crate, revealing the Riddler's cane.

"Hey, we got the item. Where are you two going?"

As Frost Queen took the cane out, she saw Black Spider and Lawton heading towards the depths of the warehouse. No matter how much Frost Queen called out, neither seemed to hear.

Frost Queen's words not only drew the attention of the others to the duo's abnormality but also alerted Amanda, who was pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

Amanda did not hesitate. She immediately pressed the buttons for the remote-controlled bombs attached to the two.

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

As time ticked by, no one saw the scene of their heads exploding and blood splattering.

"What's going on?"

Seeing this, Captain Boomerang couldn't help but ask, and he reached to touch the bomb on the back of his neck, confirming it was still active, his confusion grew.

The reason was actually quite simple. All of this had been arranged in advance. Lawton and Black Spider had long since been subdued by Bai Qi. Their presence in the Suicide Squad was by Bai Qi's deliberate design.

As for the bombs installed in their necks, they had been shielded by portable jammers the moment they entered the warehouse.

Amanda soon guessed the truth. Enraged, she ordered the other members of the squad to take down the two, or she would detonate the bombs in their necks.

Faced with the choice of killing others or dying themselves, these criminals did not hesitate, and at virtually the same moment, they bared their fangs at the two.
