As the maidservant approached, Xiao Yu quickly waved her away.
"No, you don't have to. I can do it myself."
Seeing this, Rem didn't insist. She waved her hand, signaling the other maids to leave.
The maids first curtsied slightly to Xiao Yu, then to Rem, before forming a neat line and exiting the room in an orderly fashion.
Watching the maids leave one by one, and then looking at the row of exquisite clothes before her, Xiao Yu felt somewhat like a princess or royal from ancient times. But ultimately, Xiao Yu was still just a little girl from an ordinary family, no different from her peers before she came to the antique shop. Being thrust into this situation so suddenly made her feel unaccustomed.
Just like this row of magnificent clothes, she hadn't felt anything while being controlled by the dark energy before. Now, wearing them, they were comfortable and beautiful, but she felt awkward no matter what. Helplessly, she took them off again.
"Um... Miss Rem, do I still have my old clothes?"
Rem nodded and said, "Yes, but Rem doesn't understand why you would choose to wear clothes worn by commoners instead of these fine ones?"
Rem's question momentarily left Xiao Yu speechless. However, seeing that Rem didn't press further, Xiao Yu felt relieved.
After changing back into her old clothes, she indeed felt much more at ease.
Next, the priority was to find a way to leave this place.
But then again, would the Holy Lord let her leave so easily?
The answer was, of course, no.
As Xiao Yu pondered how to escape, she failed to notice Rem observing her silently. By the time Xiao Yu reacted, Rem was already close to her face.
"Ah!"
One moment she was contemplating how to escape, the next her head turned, and she almost bumped heads with Rem. Seeing Rem's expressionless face, Xiao Yu jumped three feet high in fright, scrambling to a corner and warily asking Rem, "What... what do you want?"
Rem tilted her head, looking Xiao Yu up and down impassively. "I just find it very strange. Based on your behavior, you are so ordinary now, no different from any ordinary human girl I know. Yet, why does Master care so much about you?"
Rem's question stumped Xiao Yu once again.
Indeed, from the time the Holy Lord disguised himself as Bai Qi and came to school, to the words he spoke during her resurrection, and now, the palace, the luxurious clothes, and the arrangements for her daily life were all meticulously handled. She was just an ordinary little girl, so why would the Holy Lord be so concerned about her?
But before Xiao Yu could figure it out, she saw Rem stand up, walk slowly out of the room, and return with a black meteor hammer in her hand.
"What are you doing?!"
Xiao Yu wouldn't be lying if she said she was scared seeing Rem approach with the meteor hammer. Especially when the meteor hammer struck the floor. Xiao Yu clearly saw that this seemingly small meteor hammer had dented the marble floor.
Xiao Yu thought she must have said something wrong earlier.
If this meteor hammer hit her, with her small frame, there was no doubt it would be the end of her.
But in the next moment, the situation took a drastic turn, and the sudden halt made Xiao Yu's mind reel.
Rem, holding the meteor hammer, suddenly knelt on the ground and reverently put the weapon down in front of her.
What... what was going on?
Xiao Yu was first startled by Rem kneeling on the ground. Once she recovered, she quickly stepped forward to help her up.
It was ridiculous; the other party was clearly older than her, and this was like shortening her lifespan.
Even as Xiao Yu tried to help her up, Rem made no move to rise.
"Please, Miss Chen, tell me how I can gain Master's more attention."
"Huh?"
Although Rem was a doll activated by Bai Qi using the Rat Talisman, Bai Qi had put considerable effort into making her as close to the anime as possible. He had magically modified her body and crafted a one-to-one replica of her weapon, the meteor hammer, to match the storyline.
Despite Rem's current somewhat naive demeanor, she was formidable in combat. Even a well-trained special forces soldier would lose at least half their life if struck by this meteor hammer.
However, it was unclear at which stage of the modification process something went wrong, causing Rem to develop an indescribable, special emotion towards Bai Qi. It wasn't love, but if one had to describe it, it was somewhat akin to a daughter's feelings for her father.
After being created by Bai Qi, Rem had devoted herself entirely, working diligently by his side, attending to his daily needs. A casual compliment from Bai Qi could make her happy for a long time.
But ever since Xiao Yu arrived, Bai Qi's attention was entirely focused on Xiao Yu, and what little remained was dedicated to dealing with Talas and the affairs of the Illuminati. He had no extra energy to pay attention to Rem beside him.
The stark contrast was difficult for Rem to accept. She had often thought of secretly eliminating Xiao Yu when Bai Qi wasn't paying attention, so that her Master would focus on her again. Yet, at critical moments, she hesitated, because taking care of Xiao Yu was also a task assigned by her Master, and she couldn't betray his trust.
After much deliberation, the current scene unfolded.
She sought advice from Xiao Yu on how to gain her Master's attention, even offering her most cherished meteor hammer in return.
Xiao Yu could see Rem's determination. If she didn't give her some explanation today, it was unlikely the other would get up.
There was no other choice; Xiao Yu could only agree first and then think of another way, lest someone else see this and she wouldn't know how to explain.
"Alright, alright, I promise. Please get up now."
Seeing Rem still refusing to rise, Xiao Yu added, "If you don't get up, I won't tell you."
This statement proved effective. As soon as Xiao Yu finished speaking, Rem quickly stood up in less than a second, standing respectfully before Xiao Yu. She even took out paper and a pen from her pocket, ready to meticulously record every word Xiao Yu was about to say for future study.
Seeing Rem's earnestness, Xiao Yu felt a pang of guilt. The other was so serious about learning, yet she was about to fabricate and deceive her.
But at this point, Xiao Yu had no other option. She cleared her throat and began to impart her "experience."
Unfortunately, Xiao Yu had no actual experience. Everything she said was made up on the spot, leading to many instances of nonsensical statements and intermittent explanations that any discerning person would recognize as lies.
However, Rem not only failed to notice but also meticulously recorded every single word Xiao Yu uttered.
