Just do not want to come up with a name

Chapter 39 The Assault on District Thirteen

The Imitator, whether disguised as Wilson's wife or Wilson himself, was the only one besides the Skrulls capable of such near-perfect mimicry: the Master of Disguise.

After entering Sector 13 under Wilson's guise, the Master of Disguise didn't immediately search for Caitlin's whereabouts. Even as a Sector 13 agent, a blatant inquiry about the location of a high-priority inmate would raise suspicion among others, especially since Wilson's colleagues were professionally trained operatives.

Therefore, at that moment, the Master of Disguise, just like Wilson usually did, held a cup of hot coffee and sat down at his desk to begin his work. From every angle, he was indistinguishable from Wilson, and in terms of efficiency, the Master of Disguise even subtly surpassed him.

Soon, it was lunchtime. Seizing this opportunity, the Master of Disguise, while enjoying a high-calorie chocolate donut with his colleague, engaged in casual conversation.

As they chatted, the Master of Disguise steered the topic to Caitlin, subtly planting seeds of suggestion in the other's mind.

Facing his colleague, this agent showed no suspicion and, in a conversational manner, revealed Caitlin's detention location. He also mentioned that due to Caitlin's special status, she would soon be transferred to a specialized prison for superpowered criminals, and SHIELD agents would arrive to pick her up shortly.

Time was of the essence. Although there were minor risks, the current situation did not allow the Master of Disguise to complete his elaborate plan, forcing him to fast-track the rescue.

As lunch neared its end, the Master of Disguise excused himself to use the restroom, planning to proceed to the power room and cut off Sector 13's electricity.

Despite the urgency, the Master of Disguise was not overly flustered.

Sector 13's interior appeared devoid of any surveillance, cleaner than a shopping mall. However, as a specialized facility, the Master of Disguise absolutely refused to believe it lacked any defenses.

Despite the apparent lack of surveillance, he was certain that Sector 13 was riddled with hidden cameras and various defensive measures. If he couldn't disable these, even if he rescued Caitlin, she would soon be recaptured, and he himself might not escape unscathed.

Just as the Master of Disguise was about to make his move, an unexpected turn of events occurred.

The otherwise peaceful lunch hour was shattered by a massive explosion. Following this, over a dozen beetle-shaped drones, armed with weaponry, stormed into Sector 13, unleashing a barrage of gunfire upon the agents enjoying their lunch.

The drones' weapons fired simultaneously, creating a dense web of fire. Under the overwhelming firepower, the agents were forced to take cover, unable to show their heads. Some, caught off guard, were shot and killed on the spot, their bodies riddled with bullets.

Immediately afterward, Beetle and Black Spider made their sudden appearance.

Beetle unleashed a carpet of rocket fire upon Sector 13, injuring and incapacitating many agents. Meanwhile, Black Spider stealthily perched on the rooftops, using his webs to ambush unsuspecting agents.

"Truly two idiots."

The appearance of Beetle and Black Spider disrupted the Master of Disguise's plan. Though he didn't know how these two had teamed up, their brute-force assault on Sector 13 was extremely foolish.

As expected, after a few minutes of passive defense, the stunned agents began to counterattack.

Some retrieved handguns from their desk drawers, while others pulled rifles from beneath their tables. One even lifted a floor tile, revealing an RPG.

Sector 13's emergency defense measures were also activated. Turrets emerged from the ground, and remotely controlled machine gun turrets appeared on the ceiling.

With reinforcements arriving continuously, Beetle's drones were quickly destroyed. Even Beetle, who had been recklessly relying on his firepower advantage, was suppressed by Sector 13.

"What do we do? You said Sector 13 was insignificant!"

Hiding behind cover, Beetle cursed Black Spider as a pig teammate. He had believed Black Spider's nonsense and agreed to assault Sector 13 together. Not only did they fail to rescue anyone, but all his modified drones were lost. He had suffered a great loss this time.

"How was I supposed to know Sector 13 had this up its sleeve?"

Black Spider replied, "Stop with the useless talk. If we don't find a solution, we're all finished."

Both of them were acutely aware of the consequences of being captured; they faced a life of endless imprisonment. While they wouldn't be executed, the thought of spending the rest of their lives behind bars was worse than death to them as Americans.

Just as they were cornered by the suppressing fire, the entire Sector 13 suddenly went dark.

Who would have imagined that at this critical juncture, Sector 13 would experience a power outage? All turrets and remotely controlled weapons went offline.

"Hahaha, heaven isn't finished with us yet!"

Black Spider roared with laughter and charged out of cover. In the darkness, it was his domain.

His suit's built-in night vision allowed Black Spider to see in the dark as clearly as if it were daytime. Furthermore, as a night hunter, Black Spider excelled at hiding in the darkness to stalk his prey.

After activating the night vision on his suit, Beetle followed Black Spider out of cover, blending into the darkness.

The agents of Sector 13 were not so fortunate. No one had anticipated the sudden power outage. Who would carry night vision goggles around on a daily basis?

The result was that they all became blind. Before they could adapt to the darkness, Black Spider and Beetle systematically took them down.

Could it be that heaven truly favored them, pulling Sector 13's power plug at this very moment?

Of course not. Even if heaven had eyes, it would not aid criminals like Black Spider and Beetle, whose hands were stained with the blood of countless innocents.

Moreover, even if the power outage were due to an accidental cause, let's not forget that Sector 13 had backup generators that could be activated after a brief period of darkness.

The current situation, however, was that both the main and backup generators had short-circuited simultaneously. This was definitely not an accident.

Was this the work of the Master of Disguise?

No, it wasn't.

After Beetle and Black Spider broke in, to avoid revealing his identity, the Master of Disguise had to blend in with the agents, firing his gun symbolically.

Switching scenes, a dark figure darted out of the power room and moved swiftly through the pitch-black corridor, eliminating the guards at the cell block and using a key to open the cell doors.

Caitlin, imprisoned in her cell, heard the sound of the cell door opening and assumed it was another interrogation. But when she looked up, what she saw made her eyes light up.

"Kraven! Darling, you've come to save me."

Caitlin leaped off the cot and, with a skip in her step, ran up and threw her arms around Kraven's neck.

Her expression was enough to make a whole group of single people green with envy.
