Chapter 45: The Heads of the Hydra

Chapter 45: The Heads of the Hydra

"Let’s kill Dante."

It was like Angelina was looking at someone she didn’t know. The Richard that she was used to seeing was playful and unserious about everything. He was the sort of person who would rather go out drinking than even bother to involve himself in anything regarding the family, but this person standing in front of her had a fire burning in his eyes, and there was something evil deep inside of him that almost terrified Angelina. Angelina took a step back from her brother and said,

"What do you think you’re saying now? Do you even know what it means to threaten the boss—?"

"That man is not our boss!!"

Richard suddenly screamed at Angelina and Angelina flinched at the anger on his face! Richard’s eyes were red from pure rage, and he was seething at Angelina like he was going to strangle her if she said anything wrong! Angelina put her hand up towards Richard and spoke quickly.

"Alright, sorry. He’s not the boss. But I don’t think it’s smart to try to kill him. He’s protected by so many people, and he’s the fucking Grim Reaper! Are you forgetting how dangerous that man is!? Even if we succeed, it won’t be worth it since we’ll suffer as well. Do you really think they’ll let the people who murdered the bos—the head of the family—go? They’ll kill us!"

Richard seemed to finally calm down a little when he heard Angelina’s words. It was true that they wouldn’t be allowed to get away with murdering Dante. There were rules in the family that they had to follow no matter what, and one of those rules was that if anyone in the family betrayed the boss or the family, everyone close to that person would be put to death. It was a brutal rule, but it was something that everyone agreed on since it ensured that no one would dare to try to go against the family for their own personal gain. The world of gangsters was filled with cruel and vile people, and if you couldn’t even trust your own family to have your back, then what was the point of being a family in the first place?

But Richard had already thought about that. He knew that killing Dante himself would be bad for him, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t try to make life difficult for Dante. Richard gave Angelina a heated look.

"I’m going to ruin that bastard for what he did. If he thinks he’ll just waltz into our family and take our heritage without any consequences, he has another thing coming for him."

Angelina sighed and rubbed her forehead tiredly.

"Look, whatever it is you’re planning, just leave me out of it. I’m leaving the city and going to Paris for the fashion week next month, so please let me relax till then! I don’t want to deal with any of this nonsense! Now, if you’re finished, get out."

Angelina pointed to the door and told Richard to leave, and Richard gave her a dirty look before he clicked his tongue and walked out angrily! Once he was gone, Angelina locked her door before putting her hand to her chest and releasing a shaky sigh. That was the first time that she had ever felt any sort of fear in front of her brother, and she knew at that moment that Richard was not playing around at all. Whatever Richard was planning for the future, Angelina was sure that it would shake this entire family to its foundation!

...

Dante walked towards the meeting room on the other side of the mansion, and he was greeted by two men in black suits who gave Dante respectful nods before opening the door for him. Dante entered the meeting room, and he saw that there were already various people in there. The five heads of the various Lucas Family Branches were seated at a long table in the middle of the well-furnished room. The entire room had an old-school, British design that made it look like something you would find in the house of a count or a duke, and with how old the mansion was, Dante wouldn’t be surprised if that was actually what it had been used for in the past.

The heads all stood up once they saw Dante, and Dante walked past them and headed for the seat at the head of the table. Risa moved to stand behind Dante, and she gave everyone an even glance before putting all her focus on her master once again. The other faces in the room all looked at Dante with varying expressions on their faces. On Dante’s left side were Philip and Tim. Philip looked calm, but Tim had an excited look on his face, and he would have waved at Dante if not for Risa’s glare keeping him in check!

On Dante’s right hand side were three other people. The first was a woman with a seductive appearance. She was wearing a long gown that came down to show a lot of cleavage, and it had a slit going up the left side to reveal her long, sexy leg. This woman was named Roxxanne, and she was the head of the Phantoms who were responsible for carrying out spy missions and gathering information. Roxxanne had a full head of long red hair, and her eyes were a dark brown that could easily pull in any man, but right now she was giving Dante a heated look with a small smile on her lips that told Dante that there was a lot on her mind. Dante knew that Roxxanne was a very provocative person who always had one scheme or another in mind, and if not for the fact that she had always been loyal to the Lucas family, then Dante would have been worried that she was planning against them.

Beside Roxxanne was a large man with bulging muscles and a hard face! He was wearing a full black suit, but he was so large that he was almost ripping the suit apart! This man was one of the oldest members of the Lucas family and he had been serving as the head of the torture and interrogation department for the past fifteen years. His name was Floki, and as the head of the Inquisitors, he was the last person you would ever want to have as your interrogator! He knew every method on how to break a man and tear out information from him like opening a fresh wound! His interrogation techniques were so legendary that he was nicknamed the Scream Merchant by the other members of the Lucas family. The things that they had heard from his interrogation rooms were enough to put the fear of god into any man!

The final person on the table was a tall, lanky man with a street-smart look. He had on a perfectly tailored brown three-piece suit with gold buttons, and he was wearing a brown hat that came down to shadow his dark red eyes. He had a long face and a twisted smile, and there was something almost threatening in every move he made! This man was named Jackson, and he was the head of the Fixers, who were responsible for the sale of ammunition and drugs on the black market. There wasn’t any street corner or dark alley dealing in the Lucas family district that Jackson didn’t know about, and if there was any man you would want as your guide through the city of Stockham, then it was Jackson! He was so well-versed with the streets that he knew basically every single goon or thug that worked for the Lucas family and even for other families! It was Jackson who had alerted George to the presence of the small-time gang that tried to take over the third district drug market, and Jackson’s connections on the street ensured that the Lucas family retained their street cred even without lifting a finger!
