Chapter 878: Explosion of Doom

Chapter 878: Explosion of Doom

In the Shadow Void Land, the Overseers and Maximus were in another gathering, discussing the recent turbulence at the frontline.

"Have you deduced how the Black Sigil is blocking your Omnis, Maximus?" Luxion, the Archon of Light, asked with a frown.

Just a while earlier, an unusual number of Overlords died on the frontline.

Initially, they didn’t think much of it, as such losses were natural. However, when they noticed not a single Overlord managed to escape or teleport back, they quickly sensed something amiss.

Upon deeper investigation, they discovered the death rate of Overlords had risen to over 30% in the last couple of hundred years.

Setting up multiple ambush points, they managed to catch who was causing the trouble: the Black Sigil.

"I’ve deduced it. They seem to be using concentrated particles of chaos and dark energy, destroying the Omnis at different frequencies," Maximus said solemnly.

The Omnis were adaptable but not invulnerable.

Just experiencing a sudden spike in chaotic energy, they could easily malfunction.

Combined with the corruptive dark energy, the Omnis could instantly turn into a death state, allowing the Black Sigil to go on a killing spree without anyone noticing.

Maximus hadn’t noticed it immediately because each time an Omni resurrected from its death state, it retained no memory of what happened before.

Like a newly born Omni, it would slowly revert to its preoperative state, wandering in the chaotic void while waiting for order.

Moreover, Maximus had been focused on comprehending the Archon of Laws while aiding his family, leaving the Omnis in a passive state.

Unless they discovered something major, their operations would remain unchanged.

"Do you have a solution to this?" Eryos, the Archon of Creation, asked.

"Not at the moment..." Maximus sighed.

Even if he detected the moment an Omni entered its death state, he had no leverage to quickly reach the enemy.

By the time reinforcements arrived, everyone would already be dead, and the Black Sigil would have escaped.

The Black Sigil was also quite decisive. To quickly kill various Overlords, they would even deploy multiple Archons, leaving their targets no chance to survive.

"Then what do we do now? Should we shrink the battlefield?" Aointh, the Archon of Space and Time, asked.

"For now, that’s our only option. We’ll pair each group with at least ten Chaos Void Outposts to ensure reinforcements can arrive before everyone is wiped out," Tiara, the Archon of Fate, muttered helplessly.

"Tsk! Those damn bastards! Do you have a way to find them, Maximus? Why not just kill them and be done with it?" Sunkrith, the Archon of Destruction, growled in anger.

These pests were really getting on his nerves.

Couldn’t they just leave the Planar Chaos Region alone?

Just when they were gaining the upper hand against the dark beasts, these damn pests showed up!

"Don’t worry, their methods won’t last long. Unless they have unlimited ideas, they can’t stump the Omnis forever," Maximus reassured.

Each time the Omnis encountered something new, they adapted and shared their growth with the others.

Time and time again, the Black Sigil would have to devise new frequencies or weaknesses to disable the Omnis; otherwise, it would fail.

So what if they could restrain the Omnis for millions or even tens of millions of years?

This wasn’t a fleeting war but a long one that might last billions of years.

The longer the time, the stronger their foundation and strength could grow, while the enemy could only stagnate.

Soon, they began discussing a more detailed countermeasure, vowing to make the Black Sigil pay in the future.

Taking swift action, they concentrated the Overlords at a few battlefields, centring on at least ten Chaos Void Outposts.

Though this slowed the pace of the battle, leaving them outmatched by the endless surge of dark beasts, casualties were kept to a minimum.

Facing Chaos Void Outposts that could withstand even an Origin Dark Beast, the Black Sigil’s actions were quickly halted.

Unable to fight head-on, they resorted to guerrilla warfare, harassing the Overlords to dissuade them from the battlefield.

Unfortunately for them, the Overlords were already so committed to the battle that they could even disregard their own lives.

In the past, their chances of advancing to the Archon Realm were negligible, almost impossible, but with the Tower of Chaos, it became only a matter of time.

Watching various individuals being cultivated by the Overseers as the new batch of Archons, they couldn’t help but grit their teeth in envy.

Lacking the talent and ability to be nurtured by generous sponsors, they could only work their way up, killing dark beasts until their last breath.

Treating the Black Sigil as a mere nuisance, they continued their path to strength, slaying everything in their way.

---

Meanwhile, back on the Aeon Plane, Maximus and his family continued to train.

Maximus didn’t take the threat of the Black Sigil seriously.

As long as they couldn’t massacre everyone instantly, they were merely a catalyst for growth.

Seeing his family and the Aeon Plane slowly advancing toward the Tier 13 realm, Maximus couldn’t help but smile.

---

Soon, amid the roar of war between the beings of the Central Chaos Region and the Black Sigil, tens of millions of years quickly passed by.

Surprisingly, even as the beings in the Central Chaos Region and the Omnis adapted and grew in strength and number, the Black Sigil managed to keep pace.

As if infused with endless vitality, they developed countless new methods, corrupted more Overlords, and continued to kill despite the Overseers’ suppression.

This wasn’t solely because their strength had grown, but also because the torrent of the dark beast tide had worsened.

What was once a trickle of water turned into streams, formed channels, and then began diverging towards them, nearly concentrating the migrating dark beasts toward the Central Chaos Region.

If before, the dark beast tide was merely passing by through the Planar Chaos Region, now it was shifting, redirecting its course straight toward them.

While observing the battlefield, Maximus suddenly noticed Eshka was about to advance.

"This—the Doom of Chaos is about to arrive!" Maximus’s eyes widened in shock.

Yet, instead of stopping or suppressing Eshka and the power of doom, Maximus remained still, watching everything with intense focus.

Though it was a disaster, he had a feeling it could also lead to a thread of hope for his own advancement.
