Chapter 872: Tower of Chaos

Chapter 872: Tower of Chaos

Soon, while Maximus and the others were completing the final touches on the Tower of Chaos, most of the Archons dove into the battlefield, bringing a Chaos Void Outpost with them.

Over nearly a million years, they had barely built a hundred Chaos Void Outposts, not even enough for the Archons themselves.

Realizing it was too inefficient to construct them one by one, they took the chaos void outpost in the heart of the battlefield to devour the Dark Beasts for growth.

Maximus and the Overseers also reinvested their myriad energy to hasten its growth, hastening its division.

Though not as efficient at killing as the Overlords, the Chaos Void Outpost could alter the course of the battlefield.

If the Overlords were the infantry, the Chaos Void Outpost was like the tank and fighter jet of the battlefield.

Instead of targeting the masses, they were specifically built to fight the Origin Dark Beasts or defend in harsher terrain.

They could act as the first line of defence, dispersing the dense swarms of Dark Beasts, making it safer for the Overlords in the rear.

Furthermore, for the Origin Dark Beasts that even the Archons struggled to kill, the Chaos Void Outpost was like wings, giving them a critical edge.

Targeting the strongest dark beast they could find, the Archons went on a killing spree, finally venting their pent-up frustration.

From defence, they could now counterattack and soon be able to turn the tide of the battle.

With the Chaos Void Outpost, the dark beast they feared before now turned into resources they couldn’t wait to exploit.

---

As their battle against the Dark Beasts steadily turned in their favour, the Black Sigil, hiding in the shadows, began to grow anxious.

"How could this be? What’s happening? How did those people suddenly become so bold?"

In the depths of the chaotic void, the Thirteen Archon of End was in a panic over the sudden shift in the battle.

"It’s that outsider! Since he appeared, the course of the battle has changed!"

"The Aeon Plane...it seems one of the threads of fate we tried to sever before has survived..."

"Hmph! I say we kill that man! Since he dared to interfere with our plan, only death could save him!"

"Including those Overlords! How can they so recklessly slaughter the blessings of chaos?"

"No, we should wreak havoc in the central planar chaos region! Since they dared to leave their backyard unguarded, let’s set it ablaze!"

"Enough!" Lazarus, the originator of the Archon of End and founder of the Black Sigil, silenced everyone.

Suppressed by his aura, they obediently followed his command.

Like mutes gazing at their master, they waited in obedience for his next order.

"The Overseers must be watching us. For now, we’ll hide in the shadows and prepare for the perfect moment!" Lazarus decided.

Though he hated to admit it, Lazarus knew they were nothing against the combined power of their enemies.

With the inner and outer chaos regions now united, showing themselves would only invite a crushing defeat.

Lazarus himself barely had the strength to face multiple Overseer-level powerhouses, let alone over a hundred Archons.

As for targeting Maximus, an ominous premonition gripped him whenever he considered attacking.

It felt like a looming darkness; one wrong move, and his head would roll.

Trusting his instincts, Lazarus chose to lie low, plotting countermeasures for the sudden shift in the tide of the battle.

---

Hundreds of thousands of years passed in a blaze as the beings of the planar chaos region slaughtered the Dark Beasts.

"It’s finally finished..." Maximus sighed, gazing at the Tower of Chaos.

The Tower of Chaos stood as the centrepiece of the Shadow Void Land.

Holding all the knowledge, power, and paths of chaos, it could propel anyone to a higher realm with a mere infusion of energy.

Besides this, it could autonomously manage all the operations of Omni, freeing space in Maximus’s mind.

Teleporting trillions upon trillions of powerhouses every moment had begun to wear on him.

With the Tower of Chaos handling everything, he could finally be relieved of these burdens.

"This weapon should be enough to prevent any sudden danger..."

The Tower of Chaos wasn’t just an auxiliary architecture; it was the Shadow Void Land’s primary offensive force.

At its peak, once it contained all the paths of the Archons, the Tower of Chaos could unleash a blast capable of tearing through a wall of Origin Dark Beasts in half.

Maximus estimated that even if a being surpassing the tier 13 realm appeared, it would have to retreat in the face of the Tower’s firepower.

While admiring his work, Maximus didn’t forget to summon the Overseers.

"You’ve already finished the Tower of Chaos? That was fast," an Overseer muttered in surprise.

They thought it would take Maximus at least a million years to complete the tower; they didn’t expect it to be completed in just a few hundred thousand.

"We’re not only facing the Dark Beasts but also forces bent on destroying everything. We can’t afford to slow down," Maximus sighed.

As time passed, Eshka’s power grew stronger and stronger.

Maximus had a premonition that without proper preparation, doom would hunt him down.

Yet, if he prepared well and navigated the unfortunate future, he felt the key to his advancement would be within reach.

This advancement wasn’t just about the tier 13 Archon Realm but the mythical tier 14 realm, whose existence remained uncertain.

This was why, though he could suppress Eshka’s growing power of doom, Maximus chose not to.

Gambling on a future that could bring either doom or transcendence was a risk he was willing to take.

He always believed Eshka was a blessing sent by fate; now it was up to him to achieve the best outcome.

With no time to waste, Maximus urged the Archons to impart their paths of law to the Tower of Chaos.

Having already agreed, the Overseers and other Archons nodded, transferring their paths to the Tower.

Filled with reluctance and uncertainty, they watched as their paths of law slowly merged with the Tower of Chaos.

"This is for the future... for the survival of the Planar Chaos Region. No need to hesitate..."
