Seventh Part Summary and Leave of Absence
This part was originally planned to have 160 to 170 chapters, but as I wrote, I realized that as the mysteries got closer to the truth, and the story got closer to the main plot, it didn't have as much narrative tension to expand branches, write about the local customs of different places, or slow down.
Therefore, I adjusted the structure of the story, compressed the Sui Mo City part and the part about going to other places to find the insane Great Elder Qin Ke, removed the trivial details, removed the travelogue-style exploration content. Similarly, Shang Jianyao's exploration of the mind room and the "205" dreamland were also reduced to some extent.
After presenting these with more obvious and flamboyant coincidences, I found that it actually fits the theme of this volume, "Fantasy". "Fantasy" comes from Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique", and I took the imagery of the last movement, "Dream of a Witches' Sabbath", to show a kind of madness, strangeness, and absurdity.
In addition, the second meaning of "Fantasy" is that everyone's expectation and longing for a new world in the grey lands is ultimately just a fantasy.
The preface, "Some have fallen, some have gone mad, some have gone with the wind", refers to the various characters who died, went mad, gave up, or helped the evil in the process of pursuing the new world.
The problem with the writing in this part is what I said at the beginning: when the story is already picking up speed and you can already see the ending, it is inappropriate to forcibly slow down, forcibly write travelogue-style content, and add several more links to solve problems and increase the sensory difficulty. After adjustment, it still has a certain effect.
It's not easy to say more about the writing summary at the moment. It may be better to talk about the whole book as a whole after the eighth part is finished.
Well, everyone should be able to guess the name of the eighth part. It is:
"To the New World"
According to the old rules, take a break for three and a half days, today, Tuesday, Wednesday plus Thursday morning, that is to say, resume updates at 7 pm on Thursday, and then we will enter the last part of the story of The long night's embers.
Thank you all for your continued support and companionship.
