Squid Who Loves Diving
Part Five Summary and Request for Leave
As everyone should have seen, the main subject of "Eroica" refers to the "Salvation Army," the kind of spirit and dream that never fades. When I first thought about writing this, I didn't have the story outline for The long night's embers yet and was still happily playing games.
At that time, I was playing "Disco Elysium." The final boss, or rather, not really a boss, was a suspect, an old warrior who had fallen into confusion and pain after witnessing his ideals and pursuits collapse and shatter in reality. In short, for many people in our country, it's a very relatable feeling.
After playing it, I told Qin Wang that I wanted to write about people and things that, faced with the collapse of ideals and the cruelty of reality, could still adhere to themselves and choose to continue being heroic after confusion and pain. Over the past many years, I have also heard of and encountered some, so I came up with the setting of the "Salvation Army."
This is relatively sensitive, and I originally planned to unfold the corresponding story in the early stages, so that Shang Jianyao's "for the salvation of all mankind" could immediately become concrete, vivid, and full, but in the end, I put it in the second half. This way, even if there were any problems, I could quickly rush to the ending without worrying too much.
Moreover, this also has its advantages. After such a long journey, repeated manic-style persistence, and even brainless impulsiveness, Shang Jianyao's ideas and thoughts are solidified by these people in the "Salvation Army" and are no longer empty.
This precisely fits the meaning of a hero's growth in the "Eroica Symphony."
In addition, under this lofty ideal, the second-level dream of Jiang Baimian, the third-level dream of Bai Chen and Genava, and the fourth-level dream of Long Yuehong, haha, are all displayed one by one.
This part returns to the writing style of a road movie or travelogue, but because there is a line of five holy lands connecting them, and the first four parts have gradually shaped the team members, I feel that it is better and more complete than the third part, which is also a travelogue.
Of course, there are also many problems. First, the part connecting the several holy lands, because the goal is too clear, it loses the due tension and the feeling of enjoying the scenery while traveling.
Second, regarding the "Salvation Army," because the "Old Task Force" is already too strong, it has not been able to expand too much. You should know that my original setting for the anti-secret control organization was much more than what was shown.
Third, there are not enough changes. There are no new members, and there probably won't be any new members. The following is the turning and combining in the introduction, development, twist, and conclusion. Also, the entire power system under "New World" is almost presented, and there are not enough new things in combat, and the lack of change leads to a lack of freshness and surprise in many cases.
Regarding the sixth part, the title comes from Haydn's Symphony No. 94, "Surprise."
This is a short chapter, similar to the second part, maybe a little more, maybe a little less, the specifics have not yet been determined. According to convention, I should ask for leave again. I originally planned to only ask for two days off for the short chapter, but today there is an event, and I have no time to think about the subsequent writing, so I will still ask for three days off, and resume updating at 12:30 noon on Saturday. Well, the weekend will still be a single update.
Okay, if you are bored while waiting for the sixth part, I can recommend two novels I am following:
One is «Mysterious Martial World: Xia Ke Hui Xi Lu», except that it updates slowly and the first dozen chapters play too many internet memes, it perfectly fits my preferences. The feeling of talking nonsense in a serious manner is really great. I even want to write a Cthulhu Xingyi Quan novel.
The other is «Dao Gui Yi Xian». Compared to the first one, this one is more inclined to madness and chaos. So far, the feeling of combining folklore and Cthulhu is not bad. I also read this author's previous book «Mysterious Undersea». I liked it quite a bit at the beginning, but later the plot progressed faster and faster, and the encounters became more and more dense. The rhythm was pulled too fast, and I gave up after seeing a third of it. I hope this one can maintain the current rhythm.
Finally, I wish everyone a prosperous 2022!
