Capítulo 2014: Chapter 76: Demi Immortal (Part 3)
“The guest likely doesn’t come to the Sea Market often, right?”
Wang Ba neither confirmed nor denied, merely asked in a calm voice:
“I wonder if there have been any interesting rumors over the years.”
The shopkeeper chuckled and replied:
“Since the Sea Market opened, I’ve been minding this shop every day. I’m not really sure what’s interesting, but if you’re interested, there are plenty of informants in the Human Market. It doesn’t take many coins to learn a lot of news.”
“Informants.”
Wang Ba mused thoughtfully.
As they were speaking, the voice of the Corpse-digging Ghost King came from the direction of the Five Ghost Kings:
“Boss, do you have any Ancient Corpses here?”
“Ancient Corpses? There aren’t many of those. Look at the cabinet on the left; those are all the possessions of our shop.”
The shopkeeper, acting as if he was familiar with them, didn’t treat the customer as an outsider and said with a smile.
Then he turned to Wang Ba and remarked:
“These Ancient Corpses were all fished out from the Sea Market. Most of them were cultivators who died inside during various openings of the Sea Market, nourished by some special things within the Sea Market, they ended up gaining some benefits, perfect for Corpse Path cultivators… Unfortunately, last time the Sea Market opened, I heard someone found an Immortal Corpse inside, but it couldn’t…”
“Immortal Corpse?!”
Wang Ba’s heart tightened, and he instinctively interrupted.
“Is the guest interested in the Immortal Corpse?”
The shopkeeper asked curiously.
Wang Ba quickly regained his composure, hearing the other’s words, he calmly shook his head and said:
“The Immortal Corpse, who wouldn’t be interested? I haven’t heard of this news in this market.”
“That’s true.”
The shopkeeper, hearing this, became interested in talking and said mysteriously:
“The matter of the Immortal Corpse is not clear to outsiders. It’s a rumor within our trade that when the Immortal Corpse appeared in the Sea Market, it caused a great stir. As for its appearance… it’s not much different from us or those cultivators of the Three Realms.”
Wang Ba’s heart was stirred, and he asked:
“Then the size of this immortal’s body is about the same as ours?”
The shopkeeper nodded directly and said:
“About, about. Taller than us, but about the same height as cultivators of the Three Realms. Aren’t immortals those ordinary cultivators who ascend? Naturally, their corpses are about the same.”
Speaking with a serious demeanor, he said:
“You wouldn’t believe how excited we were when we heard about the Immortal Corpse. The moment we got wind of it, we rushed to the Sea Market entrance. Unfortunately, we didn’t even catch a fur, and we almost got into a fight with the Jade Pot Realm. I wonder if the people from Wanbao Pavilion can defeat the Jade Pot Realm this time…”
Wang Ba, however, had lost much of his interest.
This shopkeeper’s cultivation level wasn’t high, only at the early stage of Void Refining, and had never seen an immortal corpse, so he was deceived by some minor rumors.
But he had seen it with his own eyes.
In the Immortal Forbidden Land, those bone seeds as large as domain stars, the never-ceasing white sands in the white mist area, the vast amounts of Immortal Blood covering many stars…
In any case, it couldn’t possibly be similar in size to an ordinary person.
Perhaps while alive, one could control their body size, but upon death, it was clearly impossible.
However, he did not expose the shopkeeper. Whether misled by minor rumors or merely boasting, he felt no need to say much.
But suddenly, he thought of something and inquired:
“I heard there’s someone named ‘Chen Xuan’ in the Human Market. Do you know him, boss?”
“Chen Xuan?”
The shopkeeper was slightly stunned, then reacted:
“Are you talking about that madman ‘Half Immortal Chen’?”
Wang Ba was taken aback, curious, asked:
“Why is he called Half Immortal?”
The shopkeeper shook his head and replied:
“Because that thing can no longer be considered a person. Always babbling to himself, sometimes mad, people and dogs avoid him, wishing he’d ascend already, hence the nickname ‘Half Immortal’… Are you looking for him?”
Wang Ba was initially expectant, but after hearing the shopkeeper’s description, he was a bit disappointed and nodded in acknowledgment:
“Someone recommended him to me.”
The shopkeeper raised an eyebrow slightly:
“Was it Master Zhe Yang from the Treasure Hall, or Lady Gongsun from the Coral Tower?”
Wang Ba was a little surprised, and thoughts swirled in his mind. He curiously asked:
“How does the boss know?”
“Hehe, this isn’t common knowledge. Before Half Immortal Chen went mad, he had a great relationship with those two. Even after his madness, they often provide support, recommending people over for any matters… Although Half Immortal Chen is unreliable, sometimes he inadvertently helps achieve some things, so despite his craziness, he lives quite well here.”
The shopkeeper was frank, hoping Wang Ba would buy more.
Wang Ba understood and learned of Half Immortal Chen’s whereabouts from the shopkeeper.
The Five Ghost Kings also picked out the Ancient Corpses they needed, without making Wang Ba pay, they exchanged a few Innate Dao Treasures for some tokens.
“Guest, come periodically for a look, you might find suitable goods.”
The shopkeeper sent him to the door, smiling warmly.
Wang Ba replied with a gentle smile and nod.
After leaving, Wang Ba and his companions followed the shopkeeper’s directions and finally found a middle-aged man, smelling of alcohol, lying sprawled on his back, snoring loudly in a corner of the Human Market.
Unlike most Outer World Cultivators, this scruffy middle-aged man looked similar to the cultivators of the Three Realms. Though haggard, he wasn’t ugly, and his body size was normal.
He lay on the ground carelessly, not minding the filth covering his entire body.
Seeing this, even Wang Ba couldn’t help but frown slightly, not to mention Yu Wuheng and Yu Yu.
