Chapter 560: Murong

When quantitative force reach such a number, then it turns into a qualitative force that should be feared

Not only their archery is accurate most of the time, the force is also just right.

It is like getting a trained archer battalion. That is what it means to gains the support of the Murong people

Just like the Marynku people, these people that travels around in Nurshira and the edges of Yan and the beginning of the Great Steppe also have many the grassland people traits and habits.

Yet, they also have certain understanding of the people of Yan, how they fight and how they think. And that alone made them an invaluable asset

Murong Muhoba went to find the Kan not only to strengthen his tribe and his people but also because he had learned from the Yan

Knowledge is not in a vacuum.

When a new civilization contact one another, they would learn from each other

And that is what Murong people did.

They learned from the Yan. And even though they could not read the many classics in the hands of the scholar’s family of Yan, they also learns many things

It is enough for them to see that the Yan dynasty is about to fall.

They feel it in their hearts and that is why Murong Muhoba went to the Kan.

At first, he has a different plan. He wanted to become mercenaries for the court of Yan or serve one of the warlords that is forming all over the Land of the Middle Kingdom

Then he would get lands and maybe if he had the strength and influence that is strong enough, he himself could be one of the warlords all over the northern regions of Yan

If he is even luckier, he could even establish a regime to protect his people. To the Yan, they did not care whether you are a Murong, a Tuoba, Sirong, Songnu or whatever the names of these tribes are

To them, all of those people who are not of Yan race are Hu and barbarians and they would oppress anyone that is different from them

Murong Muhoba has lonely one reason why he seek powers. And that is to ensure the survival of his people.

The North was in chaos after the fall of Nurshira.

The aristocratic families of Yan that resides in Nurshira was mostly plundered.

The tribes of Hu in the Nurshira region descended down on the city of Nurshira and they were like vultures eating of a dead meat.

Most of the valuable things have already been carried out by the tribes of the grassland that sieges the city.

By the time the army of the Nurshira arrives from other cities, the city was destroyed.

Hundreds of thousands of people scattered and after that, the matter become even worse. The raiders from the grasslands now control this section of the wall of Yan.

And even now, the news of it probably did not yet reach the imperial city.

Not only because Nurshira is isolated and further away from the other northern border of Yan, it is also because the chaos that is now happening all over Yan dynasty

And even when they get the news, there is doubt that the imperial army could send any forces to pacify the north

Not only the north might be carved up between powerful families, the emperor might not have the prestige to commands the prefecture governors.

And even in the north themselves, even as they are being raided by the grassland people, they are still fighting against each other.

Yan dynasty is truly in decline. The imperial power could not deter them hence, the good situation of the grassland would continue

Most of the wall on the north has already either been breached or occupied by clan and tribes of the people of grassland that is coming down from the grassland to devour the northern region of Yan

The other northern area still have some defenses but the one section of the wall that is leading toward Nurshira is wide open

And he knows about Aeryon. Even before the siege of Nurshira, he heard of the name of Aeryon

It wasn’t until Aeryon become big enough and the situation in the north become so chaotic that Murong decided to learn more about the tribes in the north

And the more he learns, the more he is surprised.

The grassland has always been a chaotic land. It is not a place to establish a foundation for a family and a clan.

Even more so for the Murong.

Because they did not have enough influence to mesh with the tribes there.

The Murong had migrated out of the grassland for hundreds of years

While they remain with contact with the tribes of the grassland, it did not mean the Murong clan is one of the tribes of the grasslands.

Instead, they were more of the tribes in the Yan dynasty, one among the many ethnic minorities the Yan always oppresses under the banner of suppressing the Hu people

Hence, Murong Muhoba never even entertained the idea of returning back to the grassland.

That is until the emergence of Aeryon, Dama and the other tribes that seems to be at war. Because these wars are not just simple wars.

These wars that these great warlords are fighting has a more direct reason. It is the kind of war to establish kingdoms and empires

The Southern Great Steppe is not exactly a peaceful land. But there were never large-scale battle since the early Yan dynasty and since the last ancient Steppe empire

Both times were times that was so long ago, that one could not even fathom

The reason why there is no large-scale battle is because the tribes were not as large as it was in the past and also because in each region, there is usually only a few large tribes while the others are small tribes.

This was on purpose. Each time any tribes become bigger, Yan, Western Zhou and even Roma would take initiative to make sure any large enough tribe to be whittle down.

They unite the many against the few, aid the weak instead of the strong, and gathers rebellious heart to destroy any threat of a grassland empire

Since this is the case most of the battle in the grassland are about simple things and other than a few shocking defeats most tribes is entrenched.

This is the case in the Southern Great Steppe

At most it is some tribes fighting some other tribes for some stupid feud that started hundreds of years ago

It is divided and weak. The Steppe as a whole is strong. But if you pick it one by one, it is weak. If one had to describe the grassland, it is a house divided

But from Aeryon deeds, uniting the tribes, forgiving the enemies, attracting talents, promoting people regardless of background, integrating the tribes...all of this is something he knew

It is something he reads in those books of governing and leading and war and strategy. This is a person who is trying to unite the tribes

And each time Aeryon move across the area, Murong Muhoba could see Aeryon ambition. So, he decided to take a gamble.

If Aeryon is who he thought he was, then if he offered him his tribe and his people strength, unlike any other chief of the grassland, Aeryon would give him high rewards

And it was exactly like that.

He knew then that Aeryon and this prototype of a steppe kingdom is a place where he could serve and made a career.

And he knew Aeryon right now is forming his own court here. The more time passes, the more this court become more and more refined.

A kingdom is already formed.

Murong Muhoba is educated in the matters of the world and it is precisely because of this he is more acute and dept in dealing with political matters.

And he is more sensitive to danger than anyone else.

"The moment Aeryon make this decision, there is no turning back between the west and the east." Murong Muhoba knew there is not many rivals left in the Southern Great Steppe.

Once these rivals are pacified or destroyed, Aeryon path to unifying the Southern Great Steppe would have no obstacle.

All of the people in the tent right now is happy about Aeryon decision to coronate himself.

And truth be told, Murong Muhoba is also happy. The coronation of Khans means Aeryon probably want to sperate the regions he controls into states or prefecture or counties.

Aeryon and Mayeux alone could not monopolize all of the power. And Murong Muhoba is right

Maybe in the future, when communication is fast so that even half the other world away one could get message of what is happening, such total control of the state could be realized

But in ancient times, empires rely on prestige, connection and interest to maintain the position of rulers and the ruled.

One needs to trust the loyalty of the people they sent to distant lands.

But to Murong Muhoba, the Kan is in need of talents right now. Now, warriors and other talented men are gathering around him

And now he is about to crown himself. New lands would be distributed, people and resources would also be distributed.

Which mean, new position, new powers and new titles and riches.

And Murong Muhoba wanted to rise under this occasion
