Chapter 1337: Chapter 1337: The Chubby Little Yellow Fellow (Part 4)
Shu Wen paused for a moment as if she remembered something, then looked at Grandpa Shu with an inexplicable expression and said: “Oh, and there’s one more thing I need to remind you of. Due to some reasons, Jiaojiao can only remember some people. Unfortunately, you’re not one of them, so you’re like a stranger to her now.”
Shu Wen felt that by saying this much, she had fulfilled her duty as a child. Of course, she would never admit that she was gloating over the fact that she was recognized by Ruan Jiaojiao before her old man was!
“…” Grandpa Shu.
The real question now wasn’t whether this cat was actually his beloved granddaughter but… that he was forgotten?!!!
Grandpa Shu was completely speechless, starting to have some existential doubts.
“Meow.” Brother Xi, I need to use the toilet.
While Grandpa Shu was still processing this issue, over there Ruan Jiaojiao couldn’t wait any longer and called out to Xiu Xi.
Xiu Xi immediately said to Shu Jiao: “Auntie, Jiaojiao needs to use the toilet.”
“Okay, come on.” Shu Jiao quickly took her from Shu Wen’s arms and walked toward the bathroom on the first floor, whispering as she walked: “We can’t set up a proper toilet here right now, so Jiaojiao will have to use paper for now, okay?”
“Meow.” Ruan Jiaojiao nodded obediently.
After Shu Jiao put her down, Jiaojiao hopped into the bathroom by herself and didn’t forget to gesture with her little paw for Shu Jiao to close the door.
Once Shu Jiao closed the door, Jiaojiao entered to use the bathroom. After finishing, she called out at the door, and Shu Jiao went back in to help her clean up. Grandpa Shu watched the whole process in astonishment.
He knew that, no matter how smart a regular cat might be, it couldn’t possibly be this intelligent. Her series of actions were completely anthropomorphized!
When Shu Jiao came out holding Ruan Jiaojiao and saw her yawning a little, she handed her over to Xiu Xi and said: “Xiaoxi, you take Jiaojiao to sleep first.”
Xiu Xi nodded, picked up Ruan Jiaojiao, and walked towards the room they used to stay in.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Shu Jiao briefly recounted the recent events.
Although it had been half a month, Shu Jiao still choked up when she talked about what happened then.
The piercing pain and despair of having Ruan Jiaojiao die in her arms was something she could never forget in her lifetime.
She finally looked at Grandpa Shu and said: “Dad, I know you’ve never believed in this kind of thing all your life, but this time it’s real. Don’t you know what kind of person your daughter is? Do you think I would deceive you? Or do you think I’ve really gone mad, acknowledging a cat as my daughter?”
Grandpa Shu didn’t say anything. His heart ached, yet he felt guilty, for he had indeed thought she was mad before, thinking they all were.
“Can she really return to her own body?” Grandpa Shu asked after a long silence.
“Yes, and we have to thank Xiaoqiong for that. If he hadn’t found that Master, I really…” perhaps she actually might have gone mad.
“It’s what I should do, as family. Sister, you’re being too polite,” Qin Qiong said cheerfully from the side, but after a glance from Grandpa Shu, he immediately straightened up and changed his tone to one of seriousness.
Qin Qiong was the same age as Shu Lang and had been used to joking around since they were young. He had never been particularly respectful even towards his own elders, yet facing Grandpa Shu somehow made him feel timid, though even he didn’t know why.
